Don't go there in the summer months.
Pros:

Location, and has a nice garden

Cons:

The hotel is absolutely not ready for hot weather, so staying there during the heatwave was a nightmare. The hallways were as hot as inside a car under the sun with no air conditioned. The room was like an oven, and the fan provided by the hotel was not enough. The hotel administration has to seriously think what to do about its, as the hot summers are only going to get worse. Rooms with wall to wall carpets don't seem like a good idea when climate change is here.
Plus, the room we stayed looked a bit jaded. The carpet had stains and was ragged in many places. I don't expect that when paying 176 pounds per night! (and that's no breakfast included)
Plus, the night concierge didn't seem to keen to help us moving our luggage when we arrived at 11:00 PM, with the horrible heat in the facilities

Ils acceptent les chiens et il y avait une petite attention pour eux.

Cons:

Chambre petite, étouffante ! Très compliqué de dormir par la chaleur. Les couloirs et les chambres ressemblent plutôt à un hôpital qu’à un hôtel avec le mot « royal » dedans. La salle de bain est vétuste, aucun effort de décoration. C’est une chambre très très simple pour le prix. Très compliqué de sortir les chiens pour leurs besoins.

Pros:

Die zentrale Lage, das freundliche, sehr hilfsbereite Personal - Koffer wurden getragen, Trinkgeld nicht angenommen! Die Parkierungsmöglichkeiten am Hotel - allerdings auf gut Glück. Schöner bewirtschafteter Garten.

Cons:

Parkplatz ist nicht reservierbar, das Haus ist ein wenig in die Jahre gekommen und überteuert - letzteres vielleicht nur am Wochende?

Excellent location in centre of Winchester. Intersting building tastefully modernised. FRiendly, helpful satff. Comfortable rooms.

Perfect location, breakfast delicious, clean and comfortable room.
Pros:

Sadly our room was in the annex, but the hotel is in a perfect location to explore the city. The staff are very friendly.

Cons:

Air conditioning in the annex, it was very hot and stuffy.
