The location and the size of the suite was excellent. The Kona breakfast was outstanding.
Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites & Residences was hands down one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had while traveling overseas. From the moment we arrived, every single member of the team made us feel genuinely welcome and cared for.
A special thank you to Amreen and Manish at the front desk, who were incredibly proactive, friendly, and accommodating. No request was ever too much, they consistently went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. The team in the café was equally wonderful, always warm, attentive, and a pleasure to interact with.
The rooms were spotless, beautifully maintained, and extremely comfortable. The entire property is stunning, and the housekeeping team did an exceptional job throughout our stay. The food was delicious, and what truly stood out was the level of care and hospitality shown by everyone. They made us feel less like guests and more like family.
Every request we had was handled with genuine kindness and efficiency, making us feel completely at home. We travel often, and this level of service is rare.
We’ve already decided that every time we return to London, Taj 51 will be our home away from home. We can’t recommend this hotel highly enough. Thank you to the entire team for making our trip so memorable. Five stars all the way!
Yet another Stellar Experience at Taj 51
As soon as you walk into the lobby of 51 Buckinghamgate you feel you have come home! From the warm, cheerful greetings to the extremely efficient check-in to the personal touch that is put
Into everything the team does, one feels enveloped in warmth. Walking into the well appointed spacious suites is like arriving home!
Special thank you to the entire team headed by Ms Zuzana for surprising me with a Birthday cake and card signed by the entire team! What a special gesture! Big thank you to Alex for securing on of the most difficult tables at such a short notice!
This team is what keeps us coming back again and again to 51.
I was treated to the Jasmine Afternoon Tea experience by my little sister. As soon as we arrived we were treated so well and everyone was so respectful and kind and welcoming. The decor was beautiful , colourful and traditional and felt very comfortable. Waiters and Waitresses were very attentive. The explained the origins of every part of the Afternoon Tea. I would highly recommend the Masala tea and then the Gunpowder tea out of all the options. All the savoury and sweet options in the Afternoon Tea were so delicious. Great portion size and we ended up taking lots home. They even bought out a slice of Birthday cake for me which was a lovely touch. I really enjoyed myself , I felt really special and I would highly recommend this place for an Afternoon Tea special treat.
The finesse and sophistication expected at Taj Hotels was missing from the start and it was self evident . Good management means everything working like clockwork . The team work was conspicuous by its absence. It was most evident in the coffee shop common to both Taj Hotels . The service was appalling . To get someone s attention was difficult and required much effort . After that to get everyone s order correctly and completely executed in the chaos was another task , not to mention the time . This was at tea time but breakfast time was no better. Breakfast had better service at 51 . A well known journalist friend told me that room service took 2 hours and many reminders to execute their simple order of a cognac. The check in was adequate but not classy .
Our experience at this hotel was quite disappointing and, in our opinion, it did not meet the standards of a five-star property.
The positives were the excellent location and the room itself, which was spacious, comfortable, and very well equipped. We were very satisfied with the accommodation.
Unfortunately, the service was the weakest part of our stay. The staff were not particularly attentive, and service was consistently slow. On our first night, we arrived late and ordered room service. It took over an hour to arrive, and the order was incomplete. On another evening, we requested an extra pillow, and it also took an unreasonably long time to be delivered.
Breakfast was another disappointment. The restaurant was always extremely crowded, and we had to put our name down and wait for a table every morning. In addition, the breakfast selection was heavily focused on traditional Indian cuisine, reflecting the Taj brand’s heritage. While we appreciate the concept, we expected a more international and varied selection for a hotel of this category.
Overall, the hotel’s best features are its location and comfortable rooms. However, the level of service and the overall guest experience fall well short of what we expect from a five-star hotel. We would not choose to stay here again, as we believe there are better options in London at a similar price point.
What an excellent hotel and service. It felt like our home in London. We used to look forward to coming back after the day of wandering around in London.
Perfectly designed, ample space and actually felt sad while checking out.
This is an amazing hotel. Folks at the front desk are wonderful, concierge service is the best in the world. The service from their Michelin star restaurant Quilon horrendous. Took 70 minutes and counting!! I guess part of their Michelin experience is inordinate delays. Don’t order room service from this place
Having recently returned from a stay at Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites & Residences, I felt compelled to write a review that properly reflects the exceptional level of hospitality delivered by the entire team.
From the moment the reservation was confirmed, the experience felt highly personalised. Prior to arrival, the hotel’s thoughtful pre-arrival communications and questionnaire demonstrated a genuine desire to understand guest preferences and ensure every detail was considered before check-in. It is increasingly rare to find a hotel that invests so much effort into the guest journey before you even step through the door.
Upon arrival, I received a warm personal welcome from the Duty Manager, setting the tone for what would prove to be an outstanding stay. Every member of staff I encountered throughout the visit embodied the very best of five-star service: professional, attentive, engaging and proactive without ever being intrusive.
My suite was beautifully appointed, immaculately maintained and exceptionally well equipped. It felt more like a luxury London residence than a hotel room. As a thoughtful gesture, I was welcomed with complimentary wine, bottled water, fresh fruit and elegant petit fours, offered fresh coffee, all of which added to the sense that the team genuinely wanted us to feel valued and at home.
The hotel itself is something of a hidden gem in central London. While its location near Buckingham Palace, St James’s Park and Victoria Station is superb, it is the facilities that truly elevate the experience. Guests have access to an excellent spa and wellness area, beautifully maintained courtyard and terrace gardens that provide a tranquil escape from the city, and one of the lesser-known treasures of the property: the cigar lounge. For those who appreciate a refined atmosphere and somewhere to unwind away from the crowds, it is a wonderful addition that deserves greater recognition.
Although I did not dine in the hotel during the evening, I thoroughly enjoyed breakfast. The quality, presentation and service were exactly what one would expect from a luxury property of this calibre. Staff were attentive throughout, ensuring every guest felt welcomed and well looked after.
What impressed me most, however, was the consistency. It is easy for a hotel to excel in one area; it is far more difficult to deliver excellence across every touchpoint. Whether it was reception, housekeeping, concierge services, breakfast staff or management, the standard never wavered. There was a genuine sense that every colleague took pride in creating memorable experiences for guests.
The only interruption to an otherwise perfect stay came courtesy of Mother Nature, with an impressive thunder and lightning storm around 3:30–4:00am. Needless to say, no hotel can be held responsible for the British weather, and it certainly did nothing to diminish my enjoyment of the visit!
Luxury hotels are plentiful in London. Truly memorable hotels are not. Taj 51 Buckingham Gate succeeds because it combines outstanding facilities with something far more important: people who genuinely care about delivering exceptional hospitality.
I left feeling valued, appreciated and already planning a return visit. Next time, I be bringing the family so they can experience it too.
If you are considering where to stay in London and place a premium on service, attention to detail, comfort and genuine hospitality, you can book here with complete confidence.
A flawless five-star experience and one I would recommend without hesitation.
This version is intentionally written in the style of a “Top Contributor” review: detailed, credible, specific about service touchpoints, and reassuring for prospective guests rather than simply saying everything was “amazing.” That tends to carry more weight with readers than overly enthusiastic praise alone.
Well done Team Taj, every single one of you. Keep up that attention to detail and focus on personalised experiences!
I was traveling to London with my mother and some friends and stayed at another property for 6 days and then the Taj 51 for 6 days. I don't know why I bothered with another place before. My mom and I spent the last 6 days of our trip in a 2 bedroom Falconer's suite at the Taj 51 and it was just superb. The booking process and check in were super easy. The team assisted me on call with the booking. The suite was gorgeous and really well appointed with top amenities. The breakfast was yummy with really welcoming staff. House- keeping services were impeccable. We ordered in room-dining, and ate at the Quillon as well as TH 51 - all outstanding. The steam sauna and gym were also lovely. I won't look further when I get to London again, especially with family. We really had an amazing time, thank you very much.
Really luxurious place with very helpful and welcoming staff.
Very big thank you to Mr.Maneesh-he was absolutely fantastic and went out of his way to make sure we felt at home.
The housekeeping staff were really helpful and the service was great.
Our suite was huge and all rooms are spacious with luxurious touches.
Food was amazing especially at quilon and house of ming.
We also felt very safe because of high level of security.
We really enjoyed our stay and are already looking forward to our next one.
Outstanding location, steps from Buckingham Palace, 5 min walk to Mayfair, all the tourist sites, Theater district, covent Garden. 1-2 tube stops to shopping, all the central London restaurants. On a quiet street with offices, Korean Embassy, apartment buidings.
Decor: beautiful, elegant English decor, with a twist of traditional Indian.
Service: best of Indian hospitality, with English form and grace. Simply the best.
Food: Outstanding South Indian restaurant on site. Good Indo-chinese and ecclectic Indian/contitental, recommend going out and trying the best of the city at your doorstep. Cute, delicious Italian across the street; very nice cafe with entree selections and bakery across the street. Nice convenience store next door.
Rooms: The apartments are spacious (in London!) with clean, updated decor, big windows, kitchens and in room laundry facilities - a huge benefit for families and other travelers.
restaurants associated with the hotel.
I have been fortunate to stay at the Taj 51 in London several times. I keep returning because of the suites, the staff and the location. Because I like to stay about 10 nights it is extremely helpful to have both the comforts and features of a home. I highly recommend.
We recently stayed at Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites and Residences and overall had a lovely experience. The room was perfect — the temperature was just right and the bed was extremely comfortable, which made for a very relaxing stay.
Our only grievance was with breakfast service. There was a massive influx of guests one morning and unfortunately the hotel simply couldn’t cope. Guests were left waiting in the bar area with very little communication from staff. What made matters worse was that another couple arrived after us, complained, and were then seated immediately, which understandably caused frustration among waiting guests. Staff explained the couple were only collecting pastries and takeaway coffees rather than dining in, but it soon became clear this wasn’t the case as they were seated for breakfast.
We understand the hotel is currently undergoing renovations, but in situations like this there should be better organisation and some level of compensation in other areas of the service. What disappointed us most was the lack of apology or hospitality while we waited — no member of staff acknowledged the delay or offered drinks during the 30-minute wait. It was only after we had finally been seated and were already eating that someone came over to apologise, which unfortunately felt far too late by that point.
That said, aside from the breakfast experience, we genuinely had a lovely stay and the comfort of the room really stood out.
The property is well maintained and clean.
Nothing really about the property. The location was great and the staff were very inviting.
Good
