Clean, comfortable and wonderful staff
No complaints
Rooms and lobby felt nice
The breakfast
Great location, very good concierge and staff was very helpful.
the lunch (chicken burger) and unusual fries was very good.
the dinner options were limited, with some "sold out" [hardly anyone was ever in the restaurant] and the food was overcooked and poor quality.
the breakfast buffet was a total money grab. the "hot" food was cold, i.e. cold undercooked sausages, limp cold undercooked bacon and cold scrambled eggs. overall selection was poor and well picked over ~1 hour after breakfast started.
My husband and I stayed at the Columbus Monte Carlo hotel to celebrate my 40th Birthday. What a wonderful place it was. The hotel was spotlessly clean and elegant. The restaurant and bar was superb, a special mention to Shavi who worked in the restaurant, he went above and beyond to makesure all our needs were met, he also recommended where to watch the England match which was kicking off after the bar had closed.
The only issue was that when we stayed the gardens were being renovated so they looked like a construction site, this was at the back of the property though and could only be seen on the way to the swimming pool.
We had a very enjoyable stay at the Columbus Hotel Monte-Carlo. The reception team were outstanding—friendly, professional, and genuinely welcoming. They went out of their way to accommodate our requests and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived.
Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable, making for a great night’s sleep.
Overall, a lovely hotel with excellent staff, and we would happily stay again.
The only area that could be improved was breakfast. It felt a little disorganised, with tables not always cleared promptly, a fairly limited selection, and birds helping themselves to leftovers on the outdoor terrace. There was also only one coffee machine, which often resulted in queues.
I waited before giving feedback because I expressed disappointment with several aspects of the hotel at check out. The receptionist said she would pass my comments on to a manager and someone from the hotel chain would soon contact me. Two weeks have now passed and no one from the hotel reached out. It left me feeling that communication was poor and no one at the hotel truly cares about guest satisfaction.
What are the positives of the property? The hotel is in a pleasant location in Fontvieille, facing the Princess Grace Rose Garden and close to a large shopping centre. There was a wonderful balcony with a fabulous view of the sea.
The beds were comfortable, the room was clean, the shower, air conditioning, wifi and tv worked well. An in room minibar was provided. Many of the multilingual staff members were pleasant and helpful but...
The room was somber and poorly lighted. The dark, monochromatic, minimalistic decor and cheap furnishings clashed with the warm and bright Mediterranean surroundings. When we made the booking, the hotel chain reached out and asked if we were celebrating a special occasion (we were) but no acknowledgement or special gesture was made during our stay. The garden leading to the swimming pool was under construction, so workmen, dust and wooden planks blocked access to the pool, which was shared by the hotel with residents of neighbouring apartment buildings. The hotel description did not state that the pool was a communal one. We did not use the pool due to the dust, noise and inconvenience of the building work. I have a Hilton Honors number, but it was not applied because the reservation was not made directly with the hotel chain, however, I was told that my loyalty number would be passed to the hotel, so we would get discounts and points for purchases such as meals. That was not the case: the hotel had no record of my Hilton Honors number, gave us no discounts or points and subsequent unsolicited e-mails advertising the Hilton Curio chain repeatedly spelled my surname incorrectly.
While one of the waiters of the restaurant, an older gentleman, was able to accommodate my family member's dietary needs and provided truly excellent service, the meal I ordered 'wok de veau' was one of the worst meals I have ever had. Pot noodles underheated in a microwave would have had more flavour. While waiting in the lower lobby for a transfer, we overheard guest service employees complaining about their working conditions and other hotel guests. It made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Why have those types of conversation when hotel guests are sitting directly behind you?
The high season prices were indeed very high. I understand that we paid for a prime location during peak season for a special occasion, but the hotel let us down on so many levels.
Alles! Het was perfect!
Niks alles was inorde
Relaxed atmosphere with polite helpful staff
I liked everything
Excellent location for the stadium. Super comfortable bed. The staff were very welcoming and we got an early check in.
We tried to get a drink on thr restaurant terrace but we waited 20 minutes without being served or given a menu so left.
