We stayed at Super 8 on May 1, 2026 as part of a lacrosse team group booking, and the experience was extremely concerning.
At 8:00 a.m., one family discovered a bed bug in their room (with photo evidence) and reported it to the front desk. By 8:30 a.m., another family reported multiple bites consistent with bed bugs. While the front desk staff were polite and apologetic, they indicated pest control would be brought in, but could not provide a timeline. Our team had to leave at 9:00 a.m. for a game, and families understandably wanted to be present for any inspection.
From that point on, communication broke down. The general manager was unavailable for several hours. By 10:40 a.m., with no update, families began searching for alternate accommodations for the following night.
We were then contacted by the assistant general manager and told that if we did not want to be charged for May 2, the entire team needed to check out by 11:00 a.m. giving us effectively 10 minutes notice while we were all still at our game. We were also told this was necessary so housekeeping could prepare the rooms to be resold that same day. This was alarming, given the potential presence of bed bugs.
After escalation, we were granted until 12:30 p.m. to check out. Our game ended at noon, forcing families to rush back, pack quickly, and scramble to find new accommodations.
Even more concerning:
• No support was offered to mitigate bed bug exposure (no laundry services, no bagging guidance, no prevention advice)
• No refund was provided for the May 1 stay
• At 5:00 p.m., we were told pest control results would not be available until at least May 5, raising serious concerns that rooms may continue to be rented in the meantime
This situation was not handled with the urgency, transparency, or care you would expect, especially given the health and financial impact on multiple families.
I strongly recommend choosing a different hotel.
