fantastic holiday lovely to see carl and other staff
Frustrating week with outdated rooms, a terrible pool, and limited food.
We recently stayed here as a group of two families with kids aged 11 to 16. Unfortunately, the hotel fell far short of expectations. We will definitely not be returning.
Our rooms were very old and disappointing. Instead of a proper modern shower, we had a basic tub with a flimsy, dirty plastic curtain.
The swimming pool situation was a major letdown for the kids. The hotel only has one pool. It is tiny, old, and visibly dirty. Because it is the only pool, it was constantly overcrowded and unusable for older kids. They went in only once for half an hour and never went back saying it was disgusting. You could actually see some green patches on the water surface.
The dining experience was highly repetitive over our week-long stay. While the food tasted nice, the selection was extremely poor. The restaurant was always chaotic and packed. Breakfast lacked basic items like jam, olives or watermelon. Pancakes were only served once during the entire seven days. The deserts / cakes were very limited and tasted badly. Runny puddings were the worst. We could taste a chlorine on cakes and fruits that were cut into slices.
Reception staff were very unfriendly.
Overall, not a 4 star hotel. We would not come back to this hotel.
Do not book this hotel if you're expecting a genuine 4-star experience.
We booked this holiday knowing we were travelling on a budget after a more expensive trip earlier in the year. We weren't expecting luxury, but we were expecting a 4-star hotel. This isn't one.
Reception staff were unfriendly from the moment we checked in, and that attitude continued throughout our stay. The only people who seemed interested in customer service were the occasional bar staff. The lifeguards spent more time cleaning than watching the pool.
The pool area is completely inadequate for the number of guests. People were queuing before 8am for sunbeds that couldn't even be claimed until 9am. Search this hotel on TikTok—you'll see exactly what I mean. The pool area is overcrowded and feels more like a prison yard than a holiday resort.
The rooms are extremely dated. They were clean, but that's about the only positive. The bedding was stained, there were marks all over the walls and furniture, and nothing about the room reflected a 4-star standard. It's desperately in need of refurbishment.
The food was repetitive and mediocre. Pork seemed to dominate the menu, and after a few days we'd had enough. Breakfast was basic, with very limited fresh fruit compared to other 4-star hotels we've stayed in. We ended up eating at the beach restaurants several evenings instead, and the food there was far superior.
The daytime entertainment appeared to cater almost exclusively to Spanish guests, so we didn't bother with it.
The evening entertainment was unintentionally hilarious. We found ourselves laughing most nights—but not because there was a comedian!
One thing that really affected the atmosphere was the behaviour of some guests. Holidays are for relaxing and enjoying yourself, but there was excessive drinking throughout the day. We witnessed people stumbling around, falling over, spilling drinks onto other guests, walking around topless, and even joining complete strangers' tables uninvited. It made parts of the hotel feel chaotic rather than relaxing.
The biggest disappointment is that this hotel simply doesn't deliver what it advertises. A 4-star rating comes with certain expectations, and this hotel falls well short.
Torremolinos itself is fantastic. Beautiful beaches, brilliant restaurants, great shopping, markets, and plenty to do.
Visit Torremolinos, but book a different hotel. If you're expecting a true 4-star experience, this isn't it.
Whether you like this hotel or not totally depends on what you are looking from a holiday and how much you you want to relax or enjoy your personal space...
Pros. Drinks lovely. Food lovely if you're not fussy (I'm not) , fussy eaters are best suited to eat at the snack bar where there are burgers, sausages and chips ect. Rooms basic but clean and serviceable. Good location to wonder into town. Shuttle service to the beach. The inside of the hotel and toilets where always clean.
Cons. The pool is chaos in the mornings, people are out at 7.30 sitting around the pool on plastic furniture holding spaces ready for the sunbeds to be released, there is a lot of hostility. The outdoor area is way too small for the amount of guests and everyone ends up on top of each other, squeezing out and around lungers and people when you want to get a drink or go to the pool.. It's not a relaxing environment at all. They do have an adult only sunbathing terrace on the 8th floor but obviously that's not suitable if you want to use the pool, the lift is so slow its almost going backwards and its a huge amount of steps if you walk it.
Pool towels are not provided, you must bring your own.
Children are not allowed inflatables or balls in the pool.
A shocking amount of sunbeds, parasols and plastic furniture are damaged and dirty, in the evenings the loungers where just stacked up, never hosed down and it shows.
You don't get given a map or any instructions when you arrive at the hotel so you have to work out where everything is yourself.
Unless you go to the restaurant at the very earliest sittings that too is chaos, people don't queue, push past each other, always a hectic experience. Perhaps a one way system and some directional arrow would help with this.
The whole hotel experience felt loud and chaotic.
The surrounding area has a busy road so its very noisy at night.
With regards to value, I have to admit that I have paid less and had better.
We only booked for 5 night and I was worried it wouldn't be enough but, I was more than ready to leave.
Had a week long all inclusive stay at Sandos Griego last week.
A fantastic stay, selection of food in the main buffet restaurant was fantastic and there was never a shortage of food even though it was very busy. There was something different every day and it was brilliant. There was always plenty of tables at all sittings throughout the day and was clearly well managed by staff.
Staff were very kind throughout the hotel. Special mention to Carl and the staff in the Gioconda restaurant. Fantastic food and service.
Bar was always fairly good in terms of queueing and great selection of drinks.
The pool was busy but most mornings beds were always available even after breakfast.
We had two Superior rooms for our booking and they were very nice, spacious and very comfortable.
We will definitely be back in the near future!
I have to agree that this is a very cheap hotel given the location, but at the same time very disappointing. I agree with all the negative reviews as our stay reflects that.
If you are looking at the reviews and some of the very positive ones you might find that the reviewers have only one contribution, not all, but a lot of them. When I stayed at the hotel I was “bribed” to give a really positive review to keep their four-star status. Unfortunately, that is not the case. This is a cheap hotel and if you book it, expect a cheap experience. Look at the prices of nearby hotels and perhaps if you prefer a four-star experience then book elsewhere. It is not the hotel’s fault, it will be your fault for booking a sub-standard hotel.
We have just arrived home from a lovely visit
We have been using this Hotel for the past 10 years and really enjoy our stays. I can't understand some of the negative reviews we have always found the Staff in the Restaurant and on the Front Desk more than helpful,a big shout out to Edel in the Restaurant he has always looked after us.we look forward to our next visit
I genuinely don't understand how this hotel has so many positive reviews, because our experience was incredibly disappointing.
From the moment we arrived, the service was poor. We were simply handed our room key with little to no explanation about the hotel. No one told us where anything was, how the all-inclusive worked, or what facilities were available. We also weren't given any information leaflet or guide with restaurant opening times, entertainment schedules or other useful information, leaving us to figure everything out for ourselves.
The staff were extremely unfriendly throughout our stay, and some were outright rude. Customer service was severely lacking, which immediately made us feel unwelcome.
One of the most ridiculous aspects was having to get up at stupid o'clock just to carry your own sunbeds to a spot if you wanted any chance of getting a space by the pool. For a hotel of this size, this simply shouldn't be necessary.
Another disappointment was the pool rules. Children weren't allowed to use inflatables or even play with a ball in the pool, which seemed unnecessarily restrictive. For families on holiday, it's natural for children to want to have fun in the pool, and this rule took away a big part of that enjoyment. It made the atmosphere feel overly strict rather than relaxed and family-friendly.
The hotel also has around 420 rooms, yet the lifts are tiny, making them constantly overcrowded and resulting in long waits, especially at peak times.
The restaurant was another major let-down. At breakfast, lunch and dinner it was absolutely packed, making every meal feel stressful and uncomfortable rather than enjoyable. The food itself was poor, with very little choice considering the size of the hotel. The pizzas were consistently undercooked and often still raw in the middle, while the overall quality of the food was very questionable.
We also felt that the hotel mainly catered to its Spanish guests. Much of the entertainment and activities were aimed at Spanish-speaking visitors, and there was very little effort made to accommodate or engage guests from other countries, which left us feeling overlooked.
The drinks throughout the hotel also tasted watered down, which was another disappointment and didn't reflect the standard we'd expected from an all-inclusive resort.
To make matters worse, the walls are paper thin. We could hear conversations, televisions, doors slamming and people moving around in the rooms next to us, making it difficult to relax or get a decent night's sleep.
Overall, this was one of the most disappointing hotel stays we've had. Based on our experience, I'd be far more inclined to believe the negative reviews than the positive ones. We certainly won't be returning or recommending this hotel to anyone.
My partner and I arrived at Sandos Griego on 7th July - 14th July. We read that there were steeps steps to the hotel. There is one lot of steps that are a little steep with cases and there is anothe set of steps that are wider so if you wanted to go that way you could pull your case up them but there is also a slope to go up which we used then cross the road and the hotel is there. We updated our room on booking so that we had a shower and also tea making facilties. We were on the 5th Floor and had a balcony overloking the pool. We did not experience too much noise NO late drinkers outside making a noise only the occasional banged door shutting but that is the people not the hotels fault. In our room we also had a large television which had BBC1 ITV and more channels so we were able to watch the England match in our room as it was too late to watch it downstairs in the cafe which had a tv. The staff in this hotel were superb especially the ones behind the bars which one always had a queue. The evening entertainment was good we could always find a seat around the pool or in front of the stage. We did go down to the pool area and although they had started David let us join in which was fun and a great way to meet people. I would like to the thank and praise the Manager of the dining room. The restaurant was so well organised lovely greeting when you enter to give your room number, the waiters and waitresses work so very hard clearing tables and the ones in the kitchen who we rarely saw deserve praise for the fantastic food they cooked. The food was amazing always something to get your taste buds going and the sweet area was delicious. I was very impressed one day we went passed the reception where a number of guests had arrived not sure how many but could be as many of 12 or more the receptionists were booking them in and a security guard was stood there watching the reception. The position of the hotel is great its in a quiet area but down the steps and turn right and a short walk take second left and there you are at the start of restaurants and the shops. If out shopping do not go into the small watch shop on the right as you walk down. My partner purchased a lovely watch for me and they give you a free battery but wont fit it so I took it to my local shop and she said the battery inside was corroded the technician looked at it and said he cleaned the watch but the mechanism was not working and there was no replacement . I was heartbroken but do not want anyone else to get caught out like we did. Overall I think this is a fantastic hotel and one of the best all inclusive deals I have had. I would certainly love to book again and thank you all at Sandos Griego for a great weeks holiday.
Booked this hotel as we went years ago and highly rated them then and this time too. Excellent food, drink, staff, entertainment etc highly recommended with lots of shops etc close by.
My experience came with a health issue this time. I experienced seizures whilst on holiday. Everyone from; my partner, staff, guests, experts from health centre to hospital. I cannot thank you enough and I will always be in debt and grateful you all looked after me! Thank you from the bottom of my heart xx
The rooms are OK with comfortable beds. The bathroom however was far too small with an oversized sink that meant squeezing through a narrow gap as the bidet is behind the door.
The shower worked but we couldn't isolate the bath tap so both ran at the same time. The taps/shower were also against the long wall which made showering without banging your legs on it, impossible.
The pool area is severely overcrowded and the hotel staff really need to do something about people "reserving" sunbeds by the pool with towels and then walking away. Some were empty all day and the "occupants" were nowhere to be seen. Rude and inconsiderate people who don't care about anyone else really should be challenged. The staff could at least do regular checks, removing towels where people have simply walked off and gone out for the day!
The main restaurant is terrible. Not because the food is inedible, but because it's overcrowded. Tables are crammed in making navigation difficult and some of the guests seemed to think they're more important than anyone else, barging and pushing their way through. The same people would then hover around the food, dithering and holding everyone else up. The other "restaurant" La Gioconda" can only be booked once during the stay. We thought we were in for a treat; oh how wrong we were! It's dreadful. Whilst it's less chaotic, it's still self service and the food we had was vile. The "steak" was so tough it was inedible, and then ended up being served in the regular restaurant the following day. Someone had broken a glass on the table at some point and my partner caught his hand on small shards left behind. This in itself makes it clear that they don't really clean the tables properly. I'd avoid it if I ever came back.
Drinks are plentiful and the staff at the bars work hard. So do those in the main restaurant, clearing things away and replacing food, but there seems to be a staffing issue overall. They don't seem to have enough staff so sometimes the food runs down and isn't replaced quickly enough. Some tables are also left too long without being cleared.
Snacks are OK but there's a lack of variety.
The coffee shop bar is nice.
Overall, we'll probably find a different hotel next time but it was OK in terms of what we paid. Our friend however paid over £300 more because he needed a separate room. His room was much smaller with a single bed. It isn't fair that people on their own who book separately but at the same time are ripped off like that. That may be more of a Jet 2 issue though although the hotel set their own rates in partnership with the hotel.
Hotel overcrowded, not enough parasols, pool area space is ridiculously small for the amount of people. Location of the hotel was perfect, short stroll into town for bars and restaurants, just a shame the beach bar is far away and need to catch a bus to it. The food was plentiful but didn't really cater for gluten free, staff in the restaurant worked really hard, not enough staff on at all. Rooms were nice and clean and could not fault them, air con was great in all areas, the atmosphere and entertainment was good. The noise level was low, Overall good value for money just a shame that it was overcrowded when we was there.
Pleasant 3day stay. Decent superior room. Cleaned daily. Only eat breakfast and lunch. Dining room can get vey busy. Food was ok. Self service beer and soft drinks. Cocktails not that great. Premixed. Pool area very busy but you can find a space. No pool towels. Plenty of beds but you can’t access them till 9am. There’s a roof terrace on top of pool bar building if you want quiet area. 5 min walk into start of main square. Great local bars and food. Go to area behind hotel for fantastic local cheap restaurants. No great views just concrete jungle. Overall decent stay
Just returned after my 4th visit to this hotel, Location is ideal 10 minutes stroll and your in the busy precinct with plenty of restaurants, bars and shops, very clean area with a great atmosphere.
Hotel is fine and clean, but some areas are bit tired but this is a popular hotel and each time we have been is always full, so will take some looking after. Our room on this occasion was fine but the bathroom was too small ( couldn't swing a cat ) but we are easily pleased so just got on with it.
The pool area is too small for the quantity of people but as said it is a busy hotel, saying that we only qued up for 20 minutes to get our beds and a spot at side of pool., it’s very noisy round the pool and there was a lot of Spanish families there who like to shout a lot, no disrespect LOL
There is a beach area which we like, free shuttle bus there and back, if you wish to walk like we did it’s 2.4km. 16€ for 2 sun beds and parasol, 8€ day after so not bad, there is also cantina across the road from the beach with Free facilities, drinks and food etc, the staff here are great, welcoming and can’t do enough for you.
Food in the hotel is similar to most Spanish hotels and there’s always something to eat.
If you like a drink like I do then the bars are great, drinks very good, and bar staff brilliant and welcoming.
Overall another fantastic week had by us 4 adults, and will be back next year as we love it
Would definitely return !
First time staying at an all inclusive hotel and we absolutely loved it . The staff are fabulous and the accommodation is spotless and the restaurants well stocked plenty of food and drink to chose from . A special shout out to Carl the manager he can't do enough he's attentive caring and really looks after everyone thank you Carl from your special (Scottish friends )
This is our fourth time at this hotel we always look forward to come .
We arrived At around 1pm our room was ready we were room 723 looking over the back road , it was very small especially the bathroom , it was dated but clean .
The staff are friendly and helpful especially the bar staff . Drinks were good especially the prossecco bags of chrisp and ice pops . Food was ok some days were better than others staff worked hard In restaurant . The bar at the front of the hotel is lovely. The pool on a morning is manic it’s ridiculous because there’s loads of beds. So we opted for the beach great area so chilled and you could use facilities over the road staff were fab especially Antonio absolute gentleman. One thing which was annoying there was no plug point near mirror.Great holiday .
In my opinion, this hotel does not meet the standard of a four-star property. It was far too small for the number of guests staying there, and the facilities were inadequate.
There was only one swimming pool, which was consistently overcrowded and made it difficult to relax. The restaurant was also far too small, resulting in a crowded and stressful dining experience at every meal. Our room was very dated and in need of refurbishment, which fell well below the standard we expected.
One of the biggest disappointments was the so-called beach bar. It was not actually located on the beach, but on the opposite side of a busy road, which was misleading and inconvenient.
The majority of the guests were Spanish, who were extremely rude and queueing was frequently disregarded in the communal areas, making the experience even more frustrating.
drinks good atmosphere great shows and entertainment amazing many spanish people but also english! lovely place to stay would come again
Honest review
Hotel is very central to get to a lot of places walking or using transport. Hotel is clean and tidy, we stayed in a superior triple room, room was cleaned Daily with fresh towels and new bottle of water every day, also had mini fridge and kettle in room.
Drinks there was a good selection and bar staff friendly. They also do crisps and nuts if you ask. Food was a bit hit and miss the restaurant is also very busy. We did eat at La Gioconda the other restaurant at the hotel and would definitely recommend you book a table there it was lovely food and less chaotic. We also did eat out a few times as plenty of restaurants close by.
The pool area was also busy we did have to get sunbeds by 7.30 to be able to get them together. Having said that the days we went to the beach in the morning we came back and could get a couple of sunbeds for the remainder of the afternoon.
This hotel id definitely say is more of a 3*. There are improvements needed however did it effect our stay? NO. We were there with other family members and we all had a good time and made nice memories together and that’s what it was about. I do think some people writing reviews are very picky.
Ignore the bad reviews. Your holiday is what you make it!
We had a nice ' superior' pool view room.....though to be honest the 'superior' bit just means it's been refurbished recently and has a walk in shower too.
Everything was great from the food to the staff , the hotel is one of the cheaper ones in Torremolinos most likely because it's up in town, if it had been a beach-front hotel it would be way more expensive.
I've a couple of little suggestions though........as we were only on the 2nd floor sometimes we'd just walk up , there's quite a lot of dirty marks on the stair-well walls , probably kids with food or ketchup on their hands......it looks terrible especially when it's there day after day of our holiday and the cleaners havn't cleaned it nor the maintanance guy painted over the dirty marks with white paint.
Cleaners......our bed was only changed once in 8 days? .......It seemed far more frequent 6 months ago when we were at the hotel.
Restaurant.......Peking Duck..........now i've ate Duck a lot and although this was lovely it tasted suspiciously like Chicken..........there was no 'duck' taste about it..........if it is indeed Chicken just mark it as 'Peking Chicken'.......i always meant to say to Carl about that but i forgot haha.
Another small thing......up at the rooftop solarium once you open the door with your card it's quite a high step.......a lot higher than a normal step, so maybe sitting something there so folk can step onto it then up to solarium level would help.
Overall these are small 'observations', no real complants and for the price the hotel is excellent and in a good location , and we will most likely be back in Sept or October.
Your guide to the flawless travel experience
