The hotel is decent, its very well located within walking distance to the city center. You can literally walk to all the best attractions in the city such as the John Ryland Library and Science Museum. Lively areas such as Deansgate are just a 10 minute walk. This was so great for us and allowed us to see the city with so much ease. Additionally its walking distance to Victoria station which was very practical for us.
The room we got was lovely. It had a huge window with a great view of the city. The room was very spacious and had a lot of storage space for clothes and luggage, this was greatly appreciated as we had a lot of luggage with us. The bed was comfortable and thanks to the big window the lighting in the room was excellent.
As a car enthusiast, I did enjoy seeing the Porsche 911 in the lobby everytime we entered :-)
The reception and concierge staff were overall quite friendly and pleasant. Value for money was quite good, for the room size we got too.
While its a decent a hotel there were a couple of issues we faced that I feel require some attention:
The shower pressure was extremely low. It took very long to take a shower. This is something that needs to be addressed, as the level of water pressure literally felt like a drizzle rather than a shower.
Also in the bathroom there wasn't any hook or rail to hang any of the towels and napkins other than the one rail in the shower. Even adding just one more rail for hand towels by the sink, would be very helpful.
The minibar is stocked full with weight sensors (this is fair enough in large hotels like this) however this meant there was no space in the fridge for us to put our own food in. Having some space in the fridge, or having a separate mini fridge so that guests can put their own food in would definitely be something greatly appreciated(and frankly expected in a 5 star hotel).
The breakfast was lacking, while it did have some decent options in the buffet, the variety was lacking. Additionally my wife, who is a vegetarian did not have a lot of options to choose from. I would like to add that at the one time we had breakfast, we asked for the avacado toast and requested that it be topped up with some garlic and other vegetables. The server told us that this would not be possible. At no point did she ask the kitchen if they could do that. Honestly this is something that should not happen at a 5 star hotel. Not being able to accommodate such a simple request was very bewildering to me.
I think the hotel has a lot of potential, but it really feels more like a 4 star hotel. It lacks a certain quality of service and amenities to really be considered a 5 star. Would we stay here again on our next visit to Manchester? Perhaps, but as more 5 star hotels begin to pop up in the city, i think the competition will be tough.
Location
Breakfast was very poor .
Room service was terrible and ruined our stay
Very clean, excellent service, afternoon tea and free room upgrade.
Only staying for one night
Great location, big rooms, very comfortable.
Showers were not powerful enough.
We enjoyed our stay here due to the up-market feel and décor. Our room was very spacious with comfy chairs and a table. Very clean.
Had a good dinner before catching a nearby tram to the theatre.
Breakfast was pricey.
Stunning room and facilities
Wish the snacks in the room were free because they looked incredible
good location.
my bedroom was on 26 degrees on arrival and the lowest setting was 22 degrees, which is far to hot for a restful evening sleeping. Complained on my first night and offer a new room at 1am which i declined. The air con unit was checked and found to be working at 18 degrees, however the room temp was 22 degrees. If you like sleeping in a cool room sub 22 degrees this is not the hotel for you. - very unhappy customer.
Very spacious rooms, lovely cocktails and overall beautiful stay
