Pros:

Front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. Plenty of parking near by.

Cons:

When we got to our room, the room was not clean. Beds were made, but you can tell someone laid on top of it and left an imprint on the pillow. The towels on the bathroom were left in the floor.

The front desk staff helped and gave us another room, unfortunately one of the bathrooms had no hot water. We managed and stuck to using one bathroom.

Lions Gate is fantastic
Pros:

William and Justin at the front desk are awesome! William really helped me out and made our stay fantastic. Room 4119 was awesome ADA. Carmen and Edith were our hotel room ladies. Those women are always smiling and so friendly.

Cons:

Was not a fan of the breakfast. Seemed very repetitive. Plus they close at 9am.
The pool was closed the whole time and it was hot.

Pros:

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Relaxing Stay with Excellent Service and One Suggestion

This was another enjoyable stay at Lions Gate Hotel. I’ve stayed here before and will absolutely continue coming back.

The property itself is one of my favorite things about this hotel. Although it’s located just off Watt Avenue, once you enter the grounds it feels like you’ve stepped away from the traffic and noise. The buildings are spread throughout the beautifully maintained former McClellan Air Force Base property, giving it a peaceful, park-like atmosphere that doesn’t feel like a typical roadside hotel. The Manor House rooms are separate from the main lobby and Officer’s Club, which adds to the quiet, relaxing environment.

Our room was spotless and very well stocked. The housekeeping staff did an excellent job. The room was spacious, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and there were four large, fluffy pillows that were supportive without being too soft. The shower had excellent water pressure and plenty of hot water.

We stayed during a stretch of Sacramento weather with temperatures in the upper 90s to over 100 degrees. The air conditioner kept the room comfortable, and when we wanted a little extra airflow, the hotel promptly provided a box fan, which made the room even more comfortable.

Parking was plentiful and convenient, and the property remained surprisingly quiet throughout our stay.

Breakfast each morning was another highlight. It wasn’t just a continental breakfast—it included hot items like eggs, bacon, sausage, fresh waffles, coffee, tea, juice, and other breakfast selections. It was a great way to start the day.

I also want to recognize Assistant General Manager Violeta. She was professional, responsive, and genuinely cared about resolving concerns. Her customer service was outstanding and made us feel valued as returning guests.

The only reason I’m mentioning one issue is because I think it can easily be improved. We specifically reserved an ADA King room because we expected the accessible room with both the roll-in shower and Jacuzzi tub that we’ve enjoyed during a previous stay. At check-in, we even confirmed we were receiving the correct room. Unfortunately, we were assigned a different ADA room that only had the roll-in shower. The front desk explained afterward that these are different room types, but the website wasn’t clear enough to distinguish between them. I think updating the room descriptions and photos would help prevent future guests from making the same mistake.

Overall, this was a wonderful stay. The room was clean and comfortable, the grounds are beautiful and peaceful, the breakfast was excellent, and management demonstrated outstanding customer service. Despite the room mix-up, we left relaxed and looking forward to our next visit.
