Holiday Inn York City Centre by IHG

Bar was not well stocked, they had no vodka or white wine. Also thought £16.99 each for breakfast was expensive, if I’d known this was the price I’d have went across the road to Wetherspoon for breakfast for under £5.

Die beiden Zimmer die wir buchten, waren extrem dunkel und wir bekamen als Ehepaar ein Zimmer mit einem schmalen Bett, unsere Tochter als Einzelperson ein breites Bett . Die Badezimmer waren beide super unterschiedlich, teils schimmelige Duschköpfe. Ich als Milben allergische Person habe die ganze Nacht Asthma gehabt, trotz Tabletten.

First impressions of the hotel, dated and could do with a good paint job and carpets cleaned, the room wasn't much different, dirty paintwork scratched paintwork, cracked shower tray, dirty windows from top to bottom of the hotel, restaurant was ok , but the breakfast was as good as a witherspoons breakfast but 3x the price, overall the price of the room was expensive for the standard offered.

Check out slow gray and black paint over painted and to dark.

The hotel was clean but a little tired- scuffed paintwork in corridors/ communal areas and the sink in our room had a leak. We also didn't like that you couldn't open the window at all although I know this is quite common in hotels nowadays.

The food offer in the evenings was actually pretty good and we enjoyed eating there. On arrival at just after 8pm staff told us we could still order dinner which was great. On our second night we asked if we could order early so as to eat as soon after dinner service began at 6pm as possible as we were going out. The lovely lady on reception did her best but did say at 5.50pm that the chef wasn't in the kitchen and our food didn't arrive until 6.40pm. We felt a little rushed and didn't order starters or dessert. Another couple who were also going to the same concert didn't get get their food until after us.

The concierge unit where you can order an uber via a 3rd part website was also a bit of a let down. At 10.45 we ordered a car to take us to the station at 11.30 ( train was at 12noon) - order was confirmed but no car arrived. Again reception staff very helpful in providing a taxi firm number who actually sent a car and we got the train by the skin of our teeth. Use the Uber app or better still use a proper taxi firm and leave lots of time to get to the station on Race Day !!

Attitude issues, room not what I expected, noisy, not clean, the only positive thing is the smell at the entrance is good, I can’t recommend this place for friends…

Old and dirty, definitely not a four star hotel. Maybe two! Smelly room and smelly bathroom with plastic curtains at shower!

Sadly alot of the property looks quite dirty, we used the stairs to go down to breakfast and full of stains which was not good to see , shower in room very mouldy .
Also we came back in the evening and thought we would have a drink at the bar , sadly after quite a wait no one came to serve us , so we decided to go and use the wetherspoons over the road which was abit disappointing to see lack of staff on an evening .
Breakfast was ok , but the coffee was not pleasant and the juices seemed very watered down which were not nice either , communal areas seemed quite grubby but reception staff very friendly
