Location and staff
Awful smell for the 16hrs we were there. Worst in the car park but it was in the hotel too. It smelt like pig manure. Also there was a different awful smell but the bins round the back.
No AC only a small fan that was next to useless so no chance of sleeping in the heat.
Bathroom needs a good clean. One socket didn’t work.
Breakfast good, could maybe expand choice for fresh fruits & yoghurts
Bar prices too expensive
Comfortable bed, room good, location to other food outlets, parking facilities
Price of food and drink,no air con.
Location great, staff really good, great breakfast
There was nothing we didn’t like
Were we just judging this hotel on the room only, it would score much higher. However, a stay isn't about the room only.
We checked in and the room was ready, which is always good. The room was an Accessible Room and it was comfortable and had all we needed. If it had one fault, it was in the bathroom, where once you had a shower and the floor in the wet room was wet it was lethal, akin to an ice skating rink.
We choose to eat in the restaurant as we didn't want to venture too far and we could only see fast food restaurants near by, with hindsight we should have gone to McDonalds. The food was bad. The Pizza was burnt in part and lacking in cheese. The Beef Pie was Gluten Free and therefore you needed a kanga-hammer to get through the pastry. Once you had done that, the pie was OK, but the chips were inedible. We had asked what time food was served and we were told 6.00pm. When we arrived at 6.00pm, the restaurant full was virtually full and most people were at least half was through a meal.
Breakfast wasn't much better, the scrambled egg was either a big solid slab or a runny mess. The Hash Browns, a bit like the chips, had been at dinner.
Bearing all this in mind, the most upsetting thing was the lack of flexibility on a late check out request. My husband is a Diamond Elite Member and that allows check out at 2.00pm, if available. We have been given 2.00pm many times and sometimes even 4.00pm. On this occasion we asked for 2.00pm and were told no. We explained we were going to a funeral and wanted to leave our bags and come back and change. My husband is a wheelchair user and changing in a small space is not possible. Travelling in funeral clothes would be uncomfortable, as we had a long onward journey to Liverpool. We were told no one is allowed later than noon to check out. I explained the funeral was 11.45 so that would be no use, but there was no empathy.
We ended up paying Stasher to leave our bags at Premier Inn, perhaps we would have been better staying there in the first place.
On check out my husband did say we hadn't enjoyed the stay for the reasons above and the person on reception, who I believe was the manager did not charge for the food but that didn't prevent the obvious disappointment and upset. We had to travel to Liverpool in funeral clothes and arrived very hot and uncomfortable - thanks HIE Lichfield.
