Important information:

From 1st January 2023, a tourist tax of RM 10 per room per night is applied to all foreign guests. This tax is not included in the room rate and must be paid upon check-in. Guests with a valid Malaysian Identity Card or valid permanent residents MY PR Card are exempted. Effective 1 June 2014, the Penang State Government will be imposing a local government fee of MYR 3 per room per night, payable directly to the hotel upon check in.

- The name on the credit card used for the booking should correspond to the guest staying at the property. For reservations made by a third party, you will need to complete an authorization form and present a copy of the person's ID and credit card.

Pros:

Amazing pools and food was great. Unreal location overlooking the sea and only a 10 minute walk to the heritage town. Staff were very accommodating and helpful

Old world style and class in Penang.
Pros:

Old world feel with modern luxury.

Cons:

The beds pillows… too stiff, that’s the only thing. Everything else was great 👍

A joy to revisit E&O after some years staying at other Penang hotels
Pros:

The quality of the Heritage Wing room renovations whilst maintaining the original character
The overall service level with one exception
The gym is adequate
The F&B especially breakfast at Sarkies resturaunt

The service level at 6/F is below par except for the Maitre 'D

Pros:

Clean, comfortable, wonderful staff, complimentary food and drinks for some customers. Pool areas were lovely and you do feel well taken care of. If you aren't vegan, the food buffets are absolutely incredible!

Cons:

Not enough vegan food variety on the buffets - breakfast, dinner and canapés. Bread and fruit, but far less tofu than expected (we took from the curry for breakfast, which was delicious!) No vegan sweet options, all cream, butter or eggs.

Superb, character-filled hotel.
Pros:

The view from the room was superb. The breakfast was good (although the coffee could've been better).

Cons:

The TV resolution was terrible. The air conditioning in our room leaked.

Overall a stay that meets my expectations.
Pros:

The breakfast and the staff managing it especially the chefs, always good manners and accomodating. Smiling faces on everyone which is hard to find nowdays.

Cons:

1. I find the air conditioning very difficult to adjust to my comfort. Its just too cold at night. And during the day the air cond shut off automatically when the balcony doors are open which is too strictly applied. Overall I think the fan in the air conditioning system is too strong even on a low fan mode.
2. I cannot access to the beaches on both sides of the hotel.

Once is enough will not return :(
Pros:

The bed is comfy and its a quiet facing by the sea vwhich is good. Spacious rooms but housekeeping can be improved. As the showee gels were not top up and the waste bin was placed haphazardly

Cons:

Pla don't use the wioden toothbrush provided. Its a hazard the coener of my mouth was tearing and my guns swell abit. Try to avioud at all cost ! Don't know c why the hotel provide such toothbrush for the amount of money we paid its not fully acceptable
