Worst nightmare.. I would give this hotel a -10 if there was one on the choice.

I booked this hotel after watching a YouTube video that gave a very positive impression, but unfortunately my experience was completely opposite.

When I arrived in Paris, the weather was quite hot. After checking in, I turned on the air conditioning, only to find that the room was not cooling at all. The vent was simply blowing regular air. I went to the front desk to inquire about the issue and was informed that the air conditioning had not been working for several days. When I asked whether a fan could be provided, I was told that the hotel did not have any available.

Another concern was the elevator, which was extremely small and appeared poorly maintained. I chose to use the stairs instead. Fortunately, I was traveling with only a small bag on a day trip, as carrying heavy luggage up to my third-floor room would have been quite inconvenient.

I was also uncomfortable with the area immediately outside the hotel. There were groups of individuals loitering near the entrance, which made the environment feel unsafe, particularly for guests returning late at night.

The overall condition of the room was disappointing. The curtains were noticeably dusty, and the towels were rough, worn out, and in need of replacement. Due to the lack of proper cooling and the overall condition of the hotel, neither my family nor I were able to sleep comfortably, which significantly affected our stay.

Overall, this hotel did not meet even basic expectations for comfort, maintenance, and guest experience. I would not recommend it based on my stay.

Pros:

Literally over the road from Gare de Nord, made this an easy base to explore Paris for the weekend.

Room was compact and had everything you need - comfortable bed, clean linen and a good shower! And air conditioning - which although wasn’t the most powerful, saved us from the worst of the heatwave!

There is a lift - tiny - but a lift (yay!) nonetheless as we were on the 5th floor and the alternative would have been awful in the heatwave.

Staff (reception is staffed 24 hours per day) were all pleasant and helpful.

Super views of Gare du Nord’s architecture.

Will happily stay here again, next time we’re in Paris.

Cons:

It’s not that we didn’t like anything but this is a compact hotel in a convenient location so do not expect loads of space. And it’s a city location next to the biggest train station with tons of bars and restaurants around - it’s going to have noise. The double glazing helps with the worst of the noise but if you are super noise adverse then this not for you. It didn’t bother us particularly and we stayed the night of the PSG winning the Championship Final so I daresay the noise was louder than usual!

I travelled from Switzerland to Paris to spend a short but very important time with my daughter before her graduation. Unfortunately, the apartment I booked through Booking.com turned out to be fraudulent.

The host’s phone number was invalid, no one responded to messages, and when I arrived at the address, several other travellers were already standing outside. There was even a notice stating that no Booking.com apartment existed at that location.

After a long journey, I suddenly found myself in Paris without accommodation. More importantly, I lost precious time that I had planned to spend with my daughter before her graduation. I had invested significant money and travelled a long distance for this visit, yet because of this situation I was only able to spend two hours with her. The person responsible did not simply cause financial loss; they took away time that can never be recovered.

What is particularly concerning is that this listing still appears on Booking.com. I sincerely hope Booking.com strengthens its verification and monitoring of hosts to prevent other travellers from experiencing the same situation.

This experience added to a growing sense of disappointment during my visits to Paris. However, the fraudulent listing itself is not the responsibility of the city, but rather a matter that Booking.com should address through stronger controls and verification processes.

I would, however, like to give special recognition to Steven from Booking.com Customer Support. Throughout the entire ordeal, he remained calm, professional, empathetic, and genuinely committed to helping. Thanks to his efforts, I was able to secure a safe place to stay at very short notice. His support made an extremely difficult situation far more manageable.

The fraudulent listing was deeply disappointing, but Steven’s outstanding assistance deserves to be acknowledged and recognised.
