Haunted but Fabulous Hotel!
Pros:

The hotel is fabulous! Gorgeous Oval Room restaurant with friendly staff, the Terrace Cafe with live music, the Ten spa, are all excellent. The room was large and comfortable. The architecture and design are stunning and give a true feeling of luxury from a bygone era. And the ghost of course - our elevator kept stopping on the fourth floor, doors would open, then close, and we’d carry on. We didn’t even know the haunted story until one of the other hotel guests explained “Oh, that’s just the ghost” when our lift stopped for no reason again on the fourth floor. Plus there’s the stairwell visual which is a little scary from the top of the ninth floor - we couldn’t look over the rail without holding on! (Dizzying!) I added a pic below. We will be back!

Don't drink the water bottle in the room, it's a trap to grab more money from you.
Pros:

Beautiful older and well looked after railway hotels. Good size room and comfortable beds.

Cons:

Reporting this hotel to consumer affairs for placing a bottle of flat water on the nightstand and then charging a ridiculous $6 for drinking it. There was nothong on or near the bottle to tell me it had a price attached so I assumed it was co.pkomentary, like the coffee and tea. If you're going to charge for it, fair consumer laws require you clearly make that obvious with the price attached. It was not. The coffee was also there too and that was free. How are we supposed to know what is free and what isn't. This really annoyed me and I will not stay at this hotel again for this one reason.

I will be following up with my MP as we need stricter laws against this deceptive practice.

Also a restaurant charge had been added to my room by somebody else. They did remove it but this shouldn't happen either.

Upscale hotel and relaxing stay
Pros:

The hotel had a nice ambiance. The lobby and restaurant options were nice. So many in one place was great so we didn’t have to leave the hotel. The room was clean and the bed so comfortable, I want it at home. We laid around for two days relaxing here beforr heading off to see polar bears in Churchhill. We would choose this hotel again if we found ourselves in Winnipeg for a couple days. It was like a vacation before our vacation.:)

Cons:

It seems weddings are held here on weekends so at night there were loud guests and esp annoying, children running down the hall by our room. So I was woken up a few times by that. Still a nice stay but we were tired and wanted more quiet.

Pros:

Localisation, chambre, produits d’accueil L’Occitane en Provence

Cons:

Of ik hem even wilde bellen vanuit Canada.
Uiteindelijk nadat ze mijn Creditcard hadden gezien waren ze wat vriendelijker en kregen we de sleutel.
Op de kamer stond een flesje water, wat later in rekening werd gebracht.
Geen mini bar.

Great place to stay in Winnipeg
Pros:

We enjoyed the spacious room and the grandness of the hotel. The staff was friendly and welcoming and the restaurant and sunset terrace bar are good quality places. While the sunset terrace has good value for money, the oval room restarant is rather pricey. We enjoyed the breakfast, but it is also on the expensive side. However in general, the hotel is good value for money. The hotel is a social hub for Winnipeg, the trainstation and the amazing Forks is very closeby.

Cons:

The cleanliness of the room/bathroom was not as impeccable as one would assume (it was quickly addressed) and the bed has been used a bit too many times.

Historic Charm, Incredible Service, and an Amazing Stay
Pros:

The Fort Garry Hotel was absolutely amazing and easily one of the best hotel experiences of our entire trip. From check-in to check-out, the staff were exceptional—friendly, welcoming, professional, and genuinely seemed to care about making our stay special.
That outstanding service continued everywhere we went, including the Vice-Regal Lounge, The Oval Room Brasserie, and TEN Spa. The staff in the Vice-Regal Lounge were wonderful, the maître d’ at The Oval Room deserves a special mention, and the staff at TEN Spa made an already memorable experience even better. Truly, we encountered wonderful service throughout the entire hotel.
If you're considering upgrading to the Vice-Regal Floor, do it! It was absolutely worth it. The breakfast was amazing, and the freshly baked cookies—with chunks of croissant baked into them—were next level. Seriously, those cookies alone deserve their own review!
Another absolute highlight was Hammam 101 at TEN Spa. What a unique and incredibly cool experience! I highly recommend adding this to your stay, especially if you've never experienced a hammam before. It was unlike anything else we did on our trip and made an already special stay even more memorable.
I genuinely cannot figure out how The Fort Garry is rated only 4.2 out of 5. Our experience was outstanding. The beautiful historic property, exceptional staff, Vice-Regal experience, wonderful food, and TEN Spa combined to make this one of the highlights of our three-week road trip.
We absolutely loved our stay and cannot wait to return. Of all the hotels and experiences along our trip, The Fort Garry is one we will remember for a very long time.
