The breakfast was the best! The room was clean and comfortable. Staff were very kind.
It seemed the lobby had seen better days. And I believe the receptionist was behind some type of clear protector and there were signs taped up about rules that seems tacky. Not the best first impression.
Clean property and everyone was super friendly and helpful
I loved everything
I was disappointed that when I originally booked the hotel I was not informed that the pool closure was until May and than the 3 days later I get an email that it was closed until July. I choose this hotel specifically because of the pool for my kids. Also the toilet would not flush correctly.
Pet friendly, classic style, good breakfast
Located in business section of city
Easy parking, comfortable beds, efficient staff and great breakfast, close to Shaw Park for morning walk or run
Pool out of service, noisy air conditioning unit
Location and staff
Dog friendly.
How can a hotel that charges the highest rates in the region hire people so ill-equipped to welcome guests? The worst customer service of all time! Our family was served by a young woman with red hair and a face full of piercings, who had such a rude and repulsive attitude that it made us want to cancel the reservation immediately after we arrived.
Location, breakfast
First room had men’s underwear on floor then put us in the next room.
Lamp didn’t work.
Curtains were falling down and dirty at the bottom.
Bathroom door didn’t lock
No full length mirror
Makeup mirror mounted too high
Toilet too low
Convenient for us. Attending graduation at Wash U. Breakfast buffet was outstanding.
Did not clean the rooms Said they were understaffed. Did not like the attitude of some of the front desk staff.
The fresh omelettes were outstanding, and made the breakfast buffet super appealing. We liked the simple spaciousness of the room, the comfortable beds, the clean bathroom and the shower's digital controls. Parking was a bit confusing at first, but ultimately not a problem. The ease of entry/exit, access to the city and MetroLink was outstanding.
We didn't encounter any negatives during our stay.
I loved the breakfast and there were eateries within walking distance of the hotel
Front parking entrance was not usable.
It was a great family place and super clean.
We stayed here a little over two years ago and loved it. Unfortunately, there were certain issues this time around.
The magnificent lobby with the gorgeous chandelier still wowed me every time I returned. Parking is still free. The well-run delicious breakfast buffet is still offered. And best of all our favorite, talented, multi-tasking omelet man returned to help out during that busy graduation week.
That's where the raves end. Our room was comfortable and quiet, but we think the bathroom may have been a handicapped bathroom. There were grab bars everywhere. This was not a problem, but the shower was. There was hardly a separation between the shower floor and bathroom floor to keep the water inside of the shower. That together with a shower curtain that was too short and too narrow, caused a slippery, dangerous flood every time we showered.
Housekeeping was another issue. When I requested daily housekeeping for our 4 night / 5 day stay when we first arrived, I was informed there would be no housekeeping that week, but I could pick up towels etc. at the front desk. So, we got our towels from the often-unfriendly reception staff, got our own coffee and creamer, scrounged around for a place to empty our overflowing trash, and made our own beds. On the morning of day 4, we saw a staff member with a cart of towels. We asked if she would give us some. She flatly refused. She said the request needed to be placed at the front desk by 10 AM. This interaction took place at 10:10. I quickly went downstairs and requested towels be delivered but we never got them.
We are no longer quite as enthusiastic about the Clayton Plaza.
