Worst 5-Star Hotel Experience in Paris – Grand Hotel Champ Elysees is a Total Scam
If you’re searching for a luxury hotel near Champs-Élysées or a genuine 5-star hotel in Paris, do NOT book the Grand Hotel Champ Elysees. This place is a complete rip-off that has destroyed its reputation after switching from Radisson Blu. We paid over $5,000 for a week and it was pure misery from day one.
The air conditioning never worked once during our entire stay. Zero. The AC is controlled by the front desk and they only turn it on for pathetic 20-minute bursts when you call and complain. The room was hot, stuffy, and unbearable the whole time. When they finally sent maintenance at 3AM, they couldn’t fix it and instead gave us a dangerous, raggedy old fan that kept breaking, rattling like it was about to explode, and shutting off randomly. Absolute garbage.
An employee straight-up admitted the AC disaster started right after the hotel was converted from Radisson Blu — the new owners are apparently cutting utility costs and screwing over guests to save money. Disgusting.
This is not a 5-star hotel Paris. We had to haul our own heavy luggage up to the rooms like it was a cheap hostel. Their so-called 24-hour room service? I called three times in the middle of the night and got complete silence. Their concierge is nonexistent — don’t even bother. After realizing they couldn’t fix the AC nightmare, their big “solution” for our $5k stay was offering to bring cold water bottles. What a pathetic joke.
The rooms weren’t even properly stocked with water — another cheap tactic. The only remotely decent thing was that some staff members were polite, but politeness doesn’t cool down a boiling hot room or make up for this level of incompetence.
Grand Hotel Champ Elysees – avoid this overpriced disaster at all costs. If you want real luxury near Champs-Élysées, look elsewhere. This hotel is resting on old glory while delivering budget-level service and major comfort failures. Never again.
Location and very friendly staff

Thanks everything is perfect
All services

The location is very good actually....very nice part of Paris and close to some main attractions. Ease of parking is the best in Paris without valet services.
It is pretty clear that they have staff troubles. There was never someone at the reception, we always had to call for someone in the back room. It felt like a family run business that was having growing pains with the business. I don't think it is a high volume hotel as the bar is not manned even though you get two free drink vouchers at check-in........ but when we tried to collect, there was no bar man (waited 30 minutes by the way) and when one did come he was not a bar tender. Pretty poor experience actually and the person assisting was sarcastic and was irritated he had to help us. The shower head was falling off the wall, and the water pressure was pretty poor. Sorry to say but I would not book here again even though the rooms are on the nicer side for Paris.
Greta location. Staff were so friendly and helpful!
The AC didn’t work properly but they tried to rectify it when we asked. The property promotes a wonderful view but you have to turn your head out the window to see it. unfortunately there was scaffolding at the time next door, so couldn’t see the view we hoped.
The hotel is set in a truly fabulous location. I was kindly offered an upgrade, and my room had a remarkable view of the Arc de Triomphe.
The room itself was excellent: elegant in style, beautifully lit, with a very comfortable bed, a well-appointed bathroom, and all the amenities, including the television, exactly as one would hope.
The air conditioning was not working, that was hot days in town, so even in the evening it was uncomfortable.
The breakfast was a bit simple, so if you prefer fresh fruits it's a season of strawberries in France. Look for breakfast outside the hotel.
