Hotel was stunning, facilities were fantastic and staff were so accommodating. Couldn't fault!
Superb luxury property to visit Florence.
We had a really lovely stay at Ville Sul'Arno. The staff at the reception were super attentive - we asked for a room change as we were given a room that was rather dark and away from the main hotel and they accomadated this. I would suggest double checking what room you are booking as the more traditional rooms are much more atmospheric than the newer modern ones. But that is down to individual taste! The hotel is about a 40 minute walk into town, which was absolutely fine by us but slightly less aesthetic as we'd hoped as the whole area is under construction. The hotel do everything they can to combat this but it is worth noting. Taxis etc take longer than usual as there is so much road works happening. Also on a weekend there is a bar opposite the river playing music super loud until about 1am - again no issue for us as we got back later but if you had young children or were positioned on the front of the hotel it could be. The housekeeping is impeccable and the touches around the hotel like the free sweet jar and the extensive breakfast are really wonderful.
The pool was rather busy and on a few occasions we weren't able to get a bed there. Also the staff around the pool were not super attentive and got our order wrong most days.
staff were very attentive and eager to please .
Lovely resort property in a quieter part of florence - not too far from the main center . Loved our stay
Discoteca all'aperto di fronte alla nostra camera, con la musica forte fino a tarda notte e anche con le fineste chiuse si sentiva molto bene.
The hotel is superb. The layout is great and I especially enjoyed the spa area to relax after a day in Florence City. We had a lovely breakfast and food is exquisite. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Florence. Staff too were very friendly.
The staff
The loud noise from the open air disco on the other side of the river was unbearable. We were looking for peace and quiet and every night there was this horrible tecno music just outside our window. The hotel should alert the guests to this issue, and should not charge these prices when you can’t get a proper rest.
The gym is tiny and impossible to work out in.
It was a lovely, well looked after hotel. Very friendly staff and great location for easy access to the city. The shuttle bus was a massive win.
The view out onto the river Arno was beautiful apart from all the graffiti and building sites opposite. Also if you don't get a Arno view room I reckon being right on the main road might be noisy.
Claudia at reception who met us when we arrived. Excellent member of the team and very helpful. She kindly and patiently allowed me to practice my Italian during check in even though she spoke English. That was very much appreciated.
Shuttle service to the town and back was very helpful. Just be aware of the times which are limited. Aziz, the driver, was very helpful and friendly.
The lady who cleaned the room - again, patient and helpful as I asked a few questions in my limited Italian.
I went to reception to ask a question about the pool and was met by a rude and unhelpful member of staff (male with a pencil moustache). I was told by him that the best way to raise any issues was in the feedback after my stay. Not my preferred option, which I mentioned to him, but this is what I was told to do. Would normally let most of this pass, but feel that visitors should be wanted this is not the 5-star hotel that you may think it is:
* Booked here for a few ‘quiet days’ after a busy city-centre hotel and visit. This hotel is not quiet. Next to a very busy main road with construction of a bridge nearby. You could hear the traffic in the room quite clearly, and very noisy when next to the pool/restaurant area.
* Pool has about 22 sun-beds (good) but only 5 umbrellas (bad), so if you’re not lucky to get one, your only option if you want use the pool is to sit in full sun and frazzle if there’s no other natural shade. There were empty bases for more umbrellas but I was told the 5 at the pool where the only ones they had.
* The rooms are quite small (we had a Superior Triple Room) so not much space for opening suitcases.
* Bathrooms - you shower standing in a small and narrow bath - note this if you have any mobility challenges.
