nothing
For the high price they charge, this felt like a room in a cheap hotel rather than a proper one, and it looked nothing like the nice pictures online. The mattress was old, and the shower had terrible water pressure. The pool was dirty, the poolside showers had no water, and the place was full of mosquitoes. Many guests complained, but the hotel owners simply did not care. Stay away!
Niks, was super.
My Sister and I spent a week in June! Upon arrival, requested tv to be fixed, entering thru the patio door with old school key was challenging one day. Noisy in the back of the hotel @ night but was clean and the pool area had lots of character. Breakfast was tasty but lacked variety. Beach club access was easy & convenient. Beautiful part of Isla Mujeres!
Good location
We had 3 rooms, on the first night one of the rooms was not useable due to the sheer number of insects on the beds. Probably as that room was on the first floor with the thatched roof. Shower and toilet didn’t work in one of the other rooms. It was repaired, but another inconvenience. All rooms had curtains that were like white sheets on the windows and they didn’t cover them fully. This was a privacy issue as on the ground floor people walk past the rooms but also the rooms are flooded with light from the crack of dawn. Some of our group had airline sleep masks, but not all, so not great sleeps all round. Breakfast is basic and served at the beach club across the road. It’s not particularly good and with quite poor service as every day had to repeatedly ask for items that were supposed to be included.
I really enjoyed my stay at Na Balam. The location is perfect—just steps from the beach while still feeling peaceful and secluded. Surrounded by lush tropical trees and gardens, it was a welcome escape from the loud music and crowds along the beachfront. The pool was absolutely beautiful and became one of my favorite places to relax.
I also loved having access to the beach loungers at their sister property, Casa Jaguar. The beach there is in a perfect location with soft white sand, calm turquoise water, and excellent swimming. It was such a wonderful perk. The complimentary breakfast each morning was another nice touch and a great way to start the day.
One of the highlights of my stay was taking a yoga class, which was excellent. The hotel also has a lovely spa offering massage services, making it easy to unwind without leaving the property.
There were a few minor downsides. The water pressure in both the shower and toilet was quite low, although I understand that's likely part of island life and not necessarily something the hotel can control. I also had a mischievous little gecko who seemed to think my bed was his favorite bathroom, which became a daily surprise! Finally, the bed was much firmer than I prefer.
Location was excellent. The beds were comfortable to facility was nice.
The pool could use a little sunshine the only problem we really didn’t like was the stairs were extremely steep And we were at the very top with a lofted room, and there was obviously creatures somewhere in the room because we woke up every morning with poop on our bed
But it still was a great value. We’re pretty sure it was probably a gecko or a lizard nothing harmful and yes, I would stay again and the breakfast was excellent and it came with cabana beds again excellent.
That the creatures were pooping on our bed
I loved that it was across the beach club. The breakfast was good. The room was cleaned daily. However, dust and bugs would fall from the straw on the ceiling! I told the front desk and the lady brushed it off saying that was normal. Also, the ceiling makes it hard to sleep in. The birds begin singing at 4:30 AM. The workers begin arriving at 5. You can hear conversations from people walking by. It’s great location but don’t book to relax!
Ceiling: bugs and dust falling in my bed.
