The Campbell House is so cozy. The food and drinks were amazing, one of my favorite places for dinner and brunch when I'm in Lexington.
There was no mini fridge in the room.
Comfortable rooms and beds. Carpet is dated. Staff is very friendly and amenable. Dining is very good pricing is as expected for a hotel. The convention facilities are excellent and the food service and staff are excellent.
Parking is ample. I can recommend this property.
Lovely property, needs updating but doesn’t take away from the experience as a whole.
Needs more counter space in bathroom

Front desk said they could not give me a receipt or tell me what the total cost for my room because it was booked through bookings. A week later I have still not received a receipt.
The Campbell House is truly a Lexington Kentucky landmark with a tremendous amount of character. Over the years it has gone through much transformation for the good. The entire hotel decor features a very warm equine theme. The RackHouse Restaurant and Bar feature a more bourbon trail theme that everyone enjoys after a day on the bourbon trail.
The hotel features many types of rooms. Do your research before booking so you get the room preferences you desire.
The customer service at the Campbell House is superb. Jasmine and CeCe at the front desk went out of their way to accommodate my room type and location request. I cannot thank them enough. Jasmine checked me out and split my bill between two types of payment without question. She’s a front desk pro!
The onsite bar is the best. Claire, Kelsey and Delaney are the best! Alex even went to the basement to get a vodka I requested. Over the top service. I had a burger and side salad. I left very full. The servings are always very generous.
Housekeeping did a complete cleaning after the first night at my request. The housekeeper was worth tipping! Bravo.
I have stayed at this hotel since the 1980’s. I have always found if there is something not to your liking just tell the front desk and they will do all they can to accommodate your requests!
Keys didn’t work, poorly maintained and ice machines didn’t work at any floor!
This old hotel needs a renovation. Steps to outdoor door to get to room falling apart and dangerous. No glass in room for water… just two plastic bottled water for $3 each. Took three trips to front desk for them to get our room key working in their faulty door sensors. Room was clean but hallway carpet definitely gross. For $300 I definitely expected more!
Stayed here on business for a few days. The photos and presentation online were a much different story. The hallways have bubbling wallpaper from mold and smelled like mold, must and weed smoke. The room itself was repaired with spray paint and discolored house paint, with deep scratches in the furniture throughout. Moved from one musty, moldy old room to another, their response to these concerns repeatedly when given the opportunity to fix the issues was “I apologize”
Is this a terrible place to stay? Absolutely not. The room itself was clean and the hotel was responsive to specific requests we made. However, a lot of the previous reviews here did ring true with our stay.
The hotel is very dated. The hallways are dark and the carpets old and seemingly always dirty/not-vacuumed and the ceiling are those square tiles you found in office buildings in the 80s. When we checked in, our room was out of conditioner and the toilet seat was totally loose to the point that you couldn't sit on it without it sliding. Both of these items were rectified when we called, but seems like this shouldn't pass a cleaner's quality check. Although clean, even the room had really dated foam ceiling tiles (some of which were broken) and a rust stain in the tub as well as a shower curtain that never seemed to be able to properly close. Generally speaking, for a "Curio" property, seems like it should be in better shape.
I also found the fact that they charge $15/day for parking kind of a scam. This is not a super busy downtown area and the hotel has a HUGE parking lot so it's not like they need to conserve spaces. Seems like a ploy to raise costs without raising room rates, kind of like the "resort fee" scam.
On the positive side, the gym was really nice and the location convenient to all of our activities. The lobby area and restaurant were nice and seemed to be well utilized.
Not too far from the events we were attending. Had a nice bar atmosphere
Needed a facelift. Poor curb appeal. Dead flowers and bushes when you walked in. Our room smelled musty and room set up was awkward.
The hotel is supposed to be a boutique hotel however, too many things are out of date. The shower drain was clogged even after they came up to fix it. Two of the 3 lightbulbs in the bathroom were out burned out. The ceiling is peeling. The bathroom door needed to be repaired so it could open fully. There was trash in the circular dry for over two days.😞. Unfortunately the hotel is not being kept up. I would not stay here again.
Location
The bathroom was small and tub drain would not work.
The hotel exterior is beautiful
The rooms were little old and outdated.
Very disappointed with my stay. I was genuinely excited to visit after seeing the photos online, but the experience did not live up to expectations—especially for the price. With the Hilton name attached, I expected a much higher standard, but overall, the accommodations felt subpar.
The room was a major letdown. It felt stuffy and had a strong musty odor that made it uncomfortable to relax. The windows were painted shut, so there was no way to get fresh air. Basic amenities were also lacking—no complimentary water and no refrigerator, which was surprising at this price point.
The use of dark paint in the rooms felt like an attempt to mask the age of the property rather than invest in a proper renovation.
On a positive note, we really enjoyed the food at the Rackhouse Restaurant—it was the highlight of our stay.
Overall, I would recommend the restaurant, but NOT the hotel accommodations.
Staff was wonderful, location was good and it was clean.
It was almost like it was only partially renovated: ceiling was not finished being painted, holes in ceiling, cracked tile, tub had stains and drain was patched, missing calk around floor, ice machine broken and dirty and we were on side that backed up to back parking lot and it was loud with workers.
Very pretty. Staff was very nice
The food we choose in the restaurant wasn’t good and very over priced. Our room smelled of mildew
