A Truly Special Place – Our 12th Visit and Still Exceptional
Pros:

We have just returned from another wonderful stay at the Grand Hotel Aminta, and after 12 visits since first discovering this special place 24 years ago, we can honestly say it remains our favourite destination. We wouldn’t dream of staying anywhere else.

Our connection with the hotel is a particularly personal one. We were married in Sorrento in 2006 and held our wedding reception at the Aninta, making it a place filled with treasured memories for us. Returning here always feels like coming home.

What makes this hotel so special is the people. Every single member of staff is outstanding – from the waiters and bar staff to the pool attendant, cleaners, front desk team and courtesy bus drivers. Everyone greets you with a smile, asks how you’re doing, and genuinely wants to make your stay perfect. Nothing is ever too much trouble, and they simply can’t do enough for you. The fact that many of the same staff members are still there after all these years speaks volumes. Being welcomed back by familiar faces feels like returning to see old friends rather than checking into a hotel.

The setting is absolutely breathtaking. The views are spectacular, and the beauty of the surrounding area never fails to amaze us. We stayed in the villa Aminta which is set apart from the main hotel. Our room was luxurious with a private balcony overlooking lemon trees and with beautiful sea views. The 2 minute walk to the pool and main hotel through fragrant orange and lemon trees is a magical experience in itself. The walk down into Sorrento takes around 15 minutes and offers stunning views every step of the way, while the regular courtesy bus service makes getting in and out of town effortless.

The hotel is impeccably maintained. Everywhere is spotless, and the attention to cleanliness is second to none. The food is consistently excellent, with a fantastic choice of dishes and outstanding quality throughout our stay. The Aminta Special cocktail remains a firm favourite and is an absolute must-try.

The pool area is another highlight. The heated swimming pool is wonderful, and the separate jacuzzi area, with its incredible views towards Capri, is the perfect place to relax and soak up the scenery.

This visit was particularly meaningful as we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. We were touched to find beautiful flowers waiting for us on arrival – a thoughtful gesture that perfectly reflects the warmth and care shown by this family-owned hotel.

The Aminta continues to set the standard for hospitality. Exceptional staff, stunning surroundings, immaculate facilities, delicious food and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere make every stay unforgettable. After 24 years of wonderful memories, including our wedding reception and now our 20th anniversary celebration, we can say without hesitation that this is a truly special place. We are already looking forward to visit number 13. Highly recommended.

Fantastic in all respects
Pros:

Fantastic in all respects. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Pool area is great with no experience of sunbed hogging. People left their beds and disposed of towels when they had finished. Breakfast was excellent with fantastic choice of sweet and savoury. Dinner was superb and delicious with 4 courses if you wanted them. Starter, pasta , meat and dessert. Try the ones from the trolley! Room bright, spacious, comfortable and very clean. One of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. Shuttle buses (free) solve the problem of being out of town.

Excellent stay at the Grand Hotel Aminta, Sorrento.
Pros:

Just back from a very enjoyable 11 night stay at the Grand Hotel Aminta. We stayed in a "Superior room with Balcony and Sunrise Sea View". The room was spotlessly clean with one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in. It was also well equipped, but minor negatives were that the balcony is quite small, and not particularly private, plus the shower cubicle had no screen or curtain. Turning to the hotel overall, the location is fantastic with a stunning panoramic view from the Island of Capri past Naples and Mount Vesuvius to the Sorrento Peninsula towns - wow ! The quality of the breakfast, lunch and bar snacks was first class with service to match. The dining room and poolside bar area are also very classily decorated. All of the hotel staff are most helpful and polite, including the poolside attendant who delivers towels and helps set up loungers and umbrellas. During our stay, the poolside areas and the (heated) pool itself were never that busy. The shuttle bus to and from Sorrento town centre is very useful and reliable, although we did occasionally walk into town which takes 15-20 minutes down narrow paths and steps (avoiding the main road with it's manic drivers). Overall, we had a fantastic stay at the Grand Hotel Aminta and highly recommend this hotel. Note, however, that the prices of drinks is relatively high compared to bars and restaurants in town. But in our opinion, worth every cent for that view alone.

From disappointment to elation
Pros:

After arriving to a disappointing experience my wife posted on trip advisor, since then all issues were corrected very quickly and we have nothing but admiration for the staff and general manager who met with us privately, we were offered a room change which we declined but it was very much appreciated, the staff in both the reception and the bar and restaurant have been amazing and have gone out of their way make us happy, the food also is fabulous

A disappointing first experience
Pros:

Well first impressions really poor, been so looking forward to this stay our first ever time in Italy and very disappointed up to now, upon arrival greeted and given sufficient info, room booked, a superior with sea view, view fab, but small and dated insufficient hangers which were delivered upon request but were dusty and dirty so had to be given back to be cleaned and returned, safe didn't work and had to be replaced, very little in the way of plug sockets and room could have been cleaner with the toilet brush leaking on the floor, not good, however after complaining these things were corrected but this has after an awful long drawn out experience in Naples airport, left us tired cross and we just wanted to be given a lovely room without any issues, that didn't happen. Hoping after our evening meal tonight and a hopefully a good night's sleep things will seem better tomorrow 🤞

Tolle Aussicht über die Amalfiküste
Pros:

Sehr angenehmer Aufenthalt!

Cons:

D'en partir....

I loved the Hotel Aminta but the shuttle would prevent me from staying here again.
Pros:

The view was phenomenal. The staff were helpful and accommodating. It was clean, and comfortable.

Cons:

The shuttle was too restrictive in how often it took you to town. Skips several hours in the afternoon and we had to wait hours or rearrange our schedules to get on the shuttle. The option was to pay $35 dollars every time we took a cab, which we had to do a couple of times. The breakfast was ok, scrambled eggs, and some fresh fruit, pastries, same things daily. The wait staff for breakfast were very nice. The pool hours were too restrictive, could not swim after 7pm for some reason, but the pool was heated and wonderful.

WE WILL BE BACK!
Pros:

Let me start by saying the staff is AMAZING! So helpful and attentive. Give Raffaella and Lauren a raise! Rossella and Victoria as well! Always greeting you with a smile and asking how your day or evening was. We wanted to do a private cooking class, and immediately set up the best place for us. Transportation is provided to the main square and runs for early morning until 11:00PM. Breakfast is included in your stay. So many varieties of danish, breads, fruits, cereals, eggs with meats and cheeses just to name some of the selections. The pool is divine. Plenty of seating and waiter service for cold drinks. The dinner menu is a nice change from having to actually leave the hotel. Food and service were good. We only had dinner there one evening. Rooms are small, but could have been the type we choose. It was fine for us. I never found the need to spend a lot of money on hotel rooms, when we are barely in our room other than to sleep. The bed was comfortable and housecleaning did a great job each day making sure the room was fresh and clean when we returned. Needless to say ........WE WILL BE BACK!

Excellent friendly and knowledgeable staff and amazing food
Pros:

Excellent hotel, the staff are wonderful and the food in the restaurant is excellent. Breakfast is amazing with lots of choice of hot and cold options served with any hot drinks you like, cappuccino, selection of teas etc. We had à la carte dinner in the restaurant on 2 out of 5 nights, the seabass puttanesca and lemon tart are a must!

Wonderful sanctuary with stunning views
Pros:

Beautiful setting off the beaten track but free shuttle bus takes you right to the centre of Sorrento.
Perfectly clean and all staff are kind, friendly and ensure your needs are met at all times.
Sit out on the terrace for a wonderful view of Mount Vesuvius across the Bay of Naples.
Well stocked fridge in our bedroom which was spacious. Lovely bathroom.
Only recommendation would be to provide tea/coffee making facilities in bedroom.

Solid hotel in Sorrento.
Pros:

The hotel is large and spacious, has a great deck and swimming pool area with a partial view of the Vesuvius. It’s located about 20 minutes away from the historic centre, and they provide a free shuttle every hour. There is limited parking available.

Their restaurant is outstanding, with a large menu, white tablecloth and excellent service.

Whole some individual staff members were very friendly, overall the hotel service itself feels a bit impersonal. No one greets you upon arrival and you have to carry your own suitcases up steep steps.

A solid Hotel with a great Restaurant but on the expensive Side
Pros:

Very nice pool area and great views. The restaurant and service at the restaurant were outstanding.
The place is bright and airy. Friendly responsive staff throughout. Solid shuttle service.

Cons:

Control of A/C. Pool too warm to be refreshing. Relatively pricy considering it’s not in a central location. Parking is available but doesn’t seem to be plentiful.

Gostamos de tudo.

Beautiful Hotel in a wonderful location.
Pros:

We stayed at the lovely Grand Hotel Aminta for one week in May, on a half board basis via Jet2.
Our room was a Superior Sunset view with balcony & as it was the end room (220) benefitted from a view of Capri & Vesuvius; absolutely stunning. The room itself was well equipped with plenty of hanging space & drawers, a safe, mini bar, kettle & comfortable bed. The bathroom contained a jacuzzi, which never seemed to work & which we didn't report & as we used the over bath shower didn't bother us too much. However, the bathroom would certainly benefit from a window blind, as we did feel rather exposed when showering !
The food & service in the restaurant were both of the highest standard & there was always an excellent choice for carnivores, pescatarians & vegetarians. There was also an extensive wine selection, with half bottles available & a perfectly drinkable full bottle of both white & red for €32. One night we celebrated my partners birthday & enjoyed the al a carte menu at a discounted rate & the hotel were kind enough to supply a small cake for the occasion.
The bar service was once again exemplary, with an endless selection of beers, wines, spirits & cocktails, as well as hot drinks. The prices were slightly high, however this is Italy & in a high class hotel.
The reception staff were all very helpful, as was absolutely every other member of staff that we encountered.....far too many to mention individually. However, having said that, I will mention Vittoria who, prior to our arrival, arranged a beautiful bouquet of flowers for my partners birthday & the cake at dinner.
The complimentary hotel shuttle bus ran every hour on the hour into Sorrento & returned every half past the hour. We used this several times & only encountered one problem upon returning on the 3.30pm bus, which was obviously over subsribed & upon letting my partner get on the bus before me, about 4 elderly "ladies" decided to push in front of me also (one day I'll learn that old school manners no longer appear very relevant). We also walked i to Sorrento a couple of times & it's an easy & pleasant half hour walk all downhill.
Not too much else to say really, except that the positives of the Hotel Aminta far outweigh the negatives (a couple of which I've already mentioned) but one that I haven't is the dress code for dinner, which didn't seem to be very well managed. Surely it's not asking too much for men to wear a pair of long trousers & leave their baseball caps in the bedroom ? Is it just me or are standards slipping generally ?
All in all, a fantastic weeks stay in a beautiful hotel, managed by lovely helpful people in a wonderful setting. I don't think you'll regret staying there.
