Location was great. Staff was super friendly. The vibe of the hotel was fun. Rooms were clean.
Was sad that the Peloton bike couldn't connect to the internet. Also, would recommend some wet wipe stations in the gym be made available to wipe equipment down when done using.
I am conflicted about my rating for this location.
The staff was great. Ready to help with a range of issues. But what has become of Hilton?
Hilton once was a brand that I trusted for a level of quality. But their corporate managers seem to think that somehow, inconsistent "collection" hotels that are unpredictable and inconsistent are a way to promote their brand? Wrong! As I understand it, the "Outset Collection" is Hilton taking over run-down properties and recoving them and keeping prices low.
They also seem to be aiming to be trendy to attract younger travellers. A thought for Hilton--busines travellers and more mature clients are not the heart of the market, a young backpacker who's short on spending cash will find a youth hostel with a bunk room.
We arrived a few minutes before our 3 pm check-in time. For some reason they could not manage to check anyone in a few minutes early--so there was a line of about six parties ahead of me.
One of their two elevators was out of service. I know there's a shortage of elevator repairpersons, so that might be understandable. But the long line for check-in turned into a trafic jam at the one remaining elevator--and the "up" button to call it was also needing repair. All told it was around 40 minutes later before we got into our room.
The room was not especially well conceived. A good bed, a desk with one chair, a couple of hammocks. A few hangers above the hammocks, a tall skinny closet with nothing in it (supposed to be an ironing board maybe?). Enclosed bath with a non-enclosed shower (note to designers: a half-sheet of glass is not an enclosure, I prefer to keep the floors dry). Pipes that rattled when you flushed. A nice TV with limited channel selection--no NBC, for instance, and I think no PBS. Mini-fridge but no coffeemaker and no microwave--to get coffee I had to go to the attached bakery, which was closed on one morning due to some mechanical issue.
The building incorporates a bar which seems to attract its own clientele. The elevator is adorned with cover art from famous rock albums--and the theme is carried into the mood music in the elevator--now, how mahy of us want punk-rock at 8:30 a.m.?
I think if I'm looking for affordable lodgings in Chicago, next time I'll go back to Motel 6. I no longer trust the Hilton brand.
The first thing I noticed upon entering the lobby is the unpleasant smell. It smelled like smoke and old furniture. My room was in the back of the property so no city view (parking lot and an inside courtyard), but at least I was not bothered by street sounds. It was clean but very old and in need of updating. Acceptable for a one night stay due to a convenient location, but I would not book this for a longer vacation in the city.
The room cards were not working on arrival for several guests. The supervisor was trying to accommodate but the super was having a pissing contest with him and was extremely unprofessional and unhelpful. We tried to get hot water at the bar and the bouncer wouldn’t let my husband in even though he was a guest. The other hot water we were directed to near the gym was not working. We asked for a kettle but never received one. The beds were extremely uncomfortable.
The rooms were comfortable and cute. The themes were fun. Good location. Nice staff
The broken elevator, no coffee machines in room, key machine not working, pillows not great
Fabulous central location great staff and facilities
How close it was to everything and the shower water pressure
It was dusty, woke up coughing and red eyes. They did not clean the rooms unless upon requested. No duvet cover and mattress cover. Just use the piece of sheet
Ótimo custo beneficio, quarto aconchegante, local excelente, próximo de vários restaurantes, mall, farmácias, entre outros. Muito bem recepcionado pelos funcionários.
Good location.
Super loud music playing outside at the front of the hotel. Room had no natural light. Window faced dark alley and parking garage. No coffee maker in the room.
Male Front desk staff not very friendly. Seemed like any guest question was an inconvenience for them. Female front desk staff was responsive to questions.
4th floor street side (City View), OMG! stayed 4 nights and the street sound is "awakening" all night. Sirens, Horns, car radios, motorcycles and even an electric guitarist on the next block with an amplifier, who plays every night until 1 am. How do i know 1 am? Because you can't help but be awake. Probably the worst sleeping experience over 4 nights i've ever had. Keep this in mind. I was street side. I assume deeper into the hotel it is fine. Location - i did enjoy the many restaurant options close by, 6-8 blocks to lake Michigan edge and walking/running path. 5-6 blocks to a whole foods. hotel was fine, nothing special, no lobby other than a check in desk.
Pricing was from booking.com - the price listed per day was not there actually price. Each day varied.
