This was a lovely place. I booked last minute so got a very good deal on the room but everything was excellent. The gastro pub was elegant in taste and excellent quality pub food
La camere sono comode e piacevoli
Lovely quiet place to stay with a wonderful restaurant to enjoy breakfast & dinner!
The staff were great we were made to feel very welcome and Luke particularly couldn't do enough to help. Dinner was excellent as was breakfast
The building was an absolutely beautiful period property in a quiet village full of lovely cottages and old church with lovely walking from the doorstep of the pub.
There was nothing to dislike about the property. It had absolutely everything we could wish for from a country pub.
Spacious room and bathroom, excellent breakfast, plenty of parking, and a convenient roadside location — perfect for an overnight stay on the way.
Delightful staff and delicious dinner and breakfast to go with a lovely location.
A couple of damaged bathroom fittings, which the manager assured us would be repaired on the day of our departure.
Breakfast was fine: a good selection of foods on offer, and decent coffee.
The only down-side to our visit was the price of wine, which was too much. If you’re going to announce a ‘happy hour’ it should cover more than just beer and the house wine.
The fan in our room (Woodstock) was filthy, and needs a good clean.
Also (small point) why not supply a small cake of soap for the bathroom sink, so that the shower gel bottle can sit in the shower?
Everything! Had a great feel to it. Rooms were clean, modern and comfortable. Food super tasty. Staff were very friendly. And the sun came out for us so we could enjoy the beer garden. Bonus
Nothing
friendly staff, nice and spacious room, good food
Absolutely gorgeous building and scenery. You can tell every part of the decor was carefully thought out. Loved the cozy tavern vibes throughout the common and dining areas, and tasteful decor in the bedroom. The room was comfortable, quiet, and sparkling clean. Parking was easy and plentiful. Staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The food and drinks were tasty and the included breakfast was delicious. The location was perfect for our planned day trip through the Cotswolds, and there was even an easily-accessible walking path by a lake and the Devil’s Quoits that you could walk to from the property. An incredible value for a pristine, comfortable, and authentic English countryside experience.
Just a small thing that is different to my American palate, which I have found across my other rentals in the UK and not just at the Harcourt Arms. The king size bed was two smaller beds pushed together, so there was a slightly uncomfortable joint in the middle of the bed. That is the only thing that affected my comfort during my stay, but it does not affect my rating for everything being a fantastic value and experience. And I did get great sleep!
We had a horrible experience at Harcourt Arms. We had a "pay at the property" two bookings with free cancellation, one from 18 May to 20 May and another from 20 May to 21 May on Booking.com. Due to a change in plans, we were going to arrive on 19 May instead of 18 May. We were planning to cancel the bookings and re-book elsewhere but instead asked the property if they could modify the booking and they agreed. We received an email confirmation that our arrival date has been changed to 19 May. However, the property brought forward the start date of the second booking (making it from 19 May to 21 May) and never asked us to cancel the first booking (from 18 May to 20 May). To our surprise, the property classified our first booking as a "no show" and charged our card despite us clearly informing them ahead of time about our change in plans and them acknowledging this. On arrival, when we discussed this issue with the manager, Dragos, he kept changing his end of the story and lied about various things saying that it was our fault that we did not cancel the first booking (despite clearly telling the property about our two bookings and change in plans!). For example, he kept saying that our second booking was a direct booking even though every email we got regarding the second booking was through Booking.com. Also, he first said that Booking.com and not the hotel has charged us but then later changed this statement after we showed him our credit card statement. After much argument he said he will reduce £100 from the invoice since it was a mistake from their end. However, we ended up paying an extra £150 for no fault of ours. The entire handling of the situation felt completely dishonest and extremely unprofessional. Mistakes can happen, but honor their words and instead blaming the guests and overcharging them is unacceptablr. The room was average at best and nowhere close to the "five star" claim on some platforms.
Easy to find. very friendly. great food and comfy bed
nothing
We stayed in the Woodstock bedroom which was a good size and quiet. It was also a plus factor (for me) that you can open the windows without restriction for decent ventilation & cooling in the nighttime unlike the vast majority of hotels nowadays.
The breakfasts and 1st night evening meals that our party had were all good.
Good location for our party to explore the Cotswold and also attend an event at Blenheim on the 2nd evening.
If we find ourselves needing to visit the area again then we would definitely stay at the Hardcourt Arms again.
Slight disappointed that there was no cereal options at breakfast except for a ready made pot of granola and yoghurt that my wife enjoyed.
It was a bit of a mystery that the happy hour beer was not available for the 4-7pm period only to become available once the happy hour was over effectively meaning that happy hour didn't really exist! Perhaps, as a small observation, it would have been sensible for an alternative beer to have been made available in the circumstances.
Having been provided with a 15% discount on meal and drinks (we asked for the cost of the 1st night meal we had added to the room bill) they were not able to apply this discount when we came to pay the final bill on checking out as their system didn't allow it!
