Very unique property, clean and modern. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable.
The room could have been darker in the morning, and the bed squeaked a little too much!
The room was huge, and the breakfast was great!
Nothing to complain about, it was a great hotel
Very beautiful hotel. Kept up very well. Our room was very spacious. Beds wer wonderful. Parking available. Quieter with local diners and bakeries around. Would stay here again.
LOVE love all the charming details of this repurposed old brick building from the beautiful courtyard to the lovely dining area. Staff is helpful. Would definitely stay here again. Nice restaurants nearby.
Being an old building, there are some quirks- but nothing that impacted our stay.
Great location and easy walking to restaurants and Old Salem.
Style of room. Simple food. Interesting decor.
Paid too much through Hotels.com
The breakfast was perfect. So many options. Delicious food and great coffee. Staff was exceptional. We loved the outside grounds and the historical significance of the hotel. Would definitely stay again. Great location as well.
The historical atmosphere was unique and interesting. Found it to be a good location. Nice courtyard and lounging area (although a bit dark). The “cotton mill bar” area was especially nice! Nice breakfast except for rotten bananas on display!
The room was very large & spacious but sparsely furnished. Room should have had a sitting area to utilize the space. Old bathtub showers need grab bars in my opinion but the shower head was good.
Desk staff at my arrival & departure was not welcoming; just functioning.
I loved how spacious our room was. It was a lovely location. All the staff is so helpful.
Unfortunately, my daughter has to routinely go to Brenner’s Children Hospital for tests and treatment. Thankfully, we found The Historic Brookstown Inn. This is a gem of a place - always clean and accommodating. This hotel has a nice homey feel to it, which is a comfort to my daughter. The little touches set it apart, like complimentary wine and cheese in the evening, milk and cookies at night, and a nice hot breakfast in the morning. It’s also within walking distance of Old Salem, which my daughter enjoys seeing; again, something to take her mind off all the tests and procedures at the hospital. What truly makes this Inn top-notch is its amazing staff. The manager, Aaron, really cares about their clientele and goes above and beyond to ensure they have the best stay. He’s always helped me with early check in and late checkouts to work around hospital visits, and personally makes sure my family has a wonderful room. My daughter loved their mascot cat, Sally, and was so sad when she died. So, she was delighted when Aaron said they were hoping to obtain a new cat. Another standout staff member is Misty. We met her last year at the wine and cheese reception. She was serving again last week during our stay, and was friendly and helpful, as always. Misty is so kind and always shows compassion about our daughter and the illness she’s dealing with. There are a lot of places to stay in Winston Salem, but as long as The Historic Brookstown Inn has a staff like this, who puts customers first, this will always be where we will stay, and will recommend to others.
Traveled with our daughter and the two story room made it more conducive to getting dressed etc in the morning.
TV remote wasn’t working, but it was not that big of a deal. Room was still great.
Our whole soccer team stayed here (14/15 year old girls) and we all loved it! The staff was super nice and accommodating, and the area is filled with walkable places to eat. The girls will be talking about this hotel for a long time. We had so much fun!
This place is beautiful. The rooms are massive. The property itself is adorable.
Always a relaxing visit going back in time to enjoy the Brookstown Inn, Old Salem and the comforting Salem Cemetery. All within easy walking distance. Di Lisio Italian is across the street with a delicious menu and the Camino & Bobby Boy bakeries are nearby. And the Winston-Salem visitor center is located on the Brookstown Inn property. All around a great inn for a lot of things Winston-Salem.
This is our second stay at the Brookstown. We love the peaceful and historic atmosphere. The unique touches of a wine and cheese hour and cookies and milk in the evening make it special. The evening we were there, they ran out of cookies 15 minutes after they were scheduled to be set out. When I said something to the person at the front desk, he seemed put out, and said it would take 40 minutes to make more. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay, and will return when we’re back in Winston Salem.
