A Series of Unfortunate Events
Pros:

Lobby is beautiful, rooms are just okay. Only leaving a review because I had multiple things happen that left a bad taste in my mouth. 1. There was a horrible sewer type smell coming from the shower drain. It was so horrible I started gagging. I asked to move rooms, they said no but that they'd send someone up to fix it. The man who came up to fix it was very kind and fixed it as best as he could. 2. I then called and asked for new towels since the ones in the bathroom were infected with the smell. They said someone would send them right up, however, after an hour of waiting, I had to call down to ask again. 3. I ordered room service the first night I was here and there was hair in my food. I will not be staying here again.

Relaxing and comfortable
Pros:

Arriving to the hotel the check-in process was quick and friendly.
The room was comfortable, clean and well conditioned.
The hotel is next to the conference center so there isn’t much in the way of restaurants nearby. There is the hotel and a couple of other choices within walking distance.
I stayed for 3 nights including the weekend and would definitely return.

Too Warm
Pros:

I just stayed two nights while working in the area. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was updated. The room was clean. It was very quiet. I don’t hear any neighbors or traffic. The bed was comfortable. The issue I had was waking up very warm because the air was unable to cool the room. There’s a lot of positives, but that’s a deal breaker for me. I won’t be staying here again.

Pros:

I keep giving this Sheraton another chance because the location is convenient, but every stay ends up being disappointing.

This time I was overcharged and then talked into paying extra for an upgraded room that supposedly included access to the club lounge. The “club lounge” was nothing more than a room with a few couches. There were no snacks or beverages available despite that being part of the sales pitch. The complimentary breakfast was also underwhelming, with the typical powdered eggs and very limited options.

The fitness center was another major letdown. Much of the equipment was out of order, and the cable machine was broken in a way that looked genuinely unsafe. A piece of equipment in that condition could seriously injure someone and should be repaired or removed immediately.

For the price, I expected much better. The convenient location is the only reason I’ve continued to return, but after multiple disappointing experiences, it’s becoming difficult to justify staying here again.

Good hotel in Overland Park
Pros:

The Sheraton provides a clean, comfortable stay in Overland Park. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and self-parking was easily accessible in the garage next to the hotel.

As a Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Elite member, I had booked a king suite, which ended up being on a low floor with a limited view. On the positive side, I really appreciate the renovation from a few years ago — it nicely updated the rooms and added a great walk-in shower.

Great Hotel in a Great Location
Pros:

Beutiful, well maintained hotel. I've said it before, I am a sucker for a good lobby, and this one was great. Loved the atmosphere at the lobby bar. Well equipped fitness center open 24 hours.

Cons:

The parking lot elevator has a wet dog smell to it. Not a big deal.
