Location good. The restaurant service was good
The shower tray and wall tiles were mouldy. The gardens need attention
The lovely gardens were very special. The building was gorgeous and interesting history.
We stayed with our log in the gatehouse Lodge which was great for direct access to the gardens.
Food was great.
The gardener whom we spoke to a couple of times as he was working near the gatehouse, was very friendly and knowledgeable.
There were touches missing that I would expect for this standard of hotel.
Most of the staff were great, but there were some where standards slipped; probably a training issue.
The loud American guests - they were a particularly arrogant lot, probably paying a fortune to play holf at St Andrews (I do know and like many Americans!). Very off-putting.
I understood when we booked that there was a spa, but saw no info or menu of services.
It was advertised as a dog friendly hotel, but no touches to welcome pets, or info, ie where to dispose of bagged up dog waste, although dog charged at £25 pn.
We dined in the bar with our dog. We were made very welcome by Joseph on first night, with table laid up etc, but even though we had booked the same table for second night at the bar, the food came before even the table was set up for dining, and service was not a restaurant experience, but charged the same.
We were in one of the turret rooms and they are amazing —clean, large, and comfortable. The 10 acre garden is beautiful and our room had an amazing view.
Rufflets is a beautiful facility that struggles with execution and a bit of an off-putting attitude. Help with luggage is offered but then not provided, specific tables are reserved and then not available, …. Even something as simple as providing a statement of charges at checkout is difficult (I’m sorry we can’t print one for you right now — after repeated asking, we’ll email it to you — never received, no response to email or call asking for a statement).
As a few others have mentioned, the breakfast is okay but not great. Our evening meal was okay — the venison was over done and dry, the lamb was served cold. The apps were great.
Great location. Lovely facilty, especially the gardens. Great rooms. Very good breakfast and dinner.
Struttura e giardino
Assenza dell'ascensore
Loved everything about this hotel. It was nice being a bit away from the noise of St Andrew’s. Staff and food were excellent and we stayed in Room #11 which was one of the turret rooms and it was AMAZING.
Gruselig… Dazu dauert alles viel zu lange beim Frühstück.
The room was spacious, well appointed and comfortable. The staff were excellent, friendly, helpful and willing to go that extra mile. My dog also loved being spoiled and the centre of attention.
Nothing, everything was as good as expected or exceeded expectations.
Stunning garden. Lovely staff
Prefer a proper double bed to two singles joined together
Location
Room and service poor
Views of the garden from the eating area
The ''Double Bed'' was very small for two people (guess its whats you are used too)
Beautiful, well kept, clean, friendly staff, great location, plenty of parking, quiet.
Nothing
The staff are friendly, the ambience pleasant, the style luxurious and the food very good.
Price-wise this is at the top end of the market - our bill for dinner, B & B and drinks came to nearly £700. The place is worth the money in my view, but at the same time should continue to do all it can to provide good value for guests.
