Older property, friendly staff !
Pros:

Took around 25 minutes by road / car to get to the hotel , my first impression was of an older property situated in the commercial/ business district of the city .As you enter the main lobby the open plan bar is in front of you with front desk to the left and hotel store/ shop to the right . Friendly and efficient check in , I registered my bonvoy status , but no points for this quick trip as I did not spend any money at the hotel . Room itself was typical Marriott , room was clean apart from minor issue in bath room area with used soap bar from previous guest still in dish , long hair on shower wall and almost finished toilet roll not replaced by new one !
No bedside clock , bed was comfortable and clean , fridge still had bottle of unopened apple juice from previous guest. Housekeeping did check if my room required service/ cleaning for my second night . Shower was very nice but no rubber mat as bath didn’t seem to be non slip ( I prefer to shower than sit in the bath ) Room sound proofing was pretty good and hotel staff were friendly and helpful. There is a local supermarket 5 or 6 minutes walk from the hotel that sells hot and cold food amongst other things . The Arch and museum are a short walk along with the baseball stadium other attractions are further away . I hope the hotel eventually gets some updating and refurbishing soon .

Convenient Convention Hotel with a Few Trade-Offs
Pros:

The Marriott St. Louis is a solid, average hotel that works especially well if you’re attending something at the convention center. The location is definitely the biggest advantage — super convenient and easy to get back and forth without much hassle. The hotel itself is showing a bit of age in places, but it does appear the rooms have been updated relatively recently, which helps the stay feel more comfortable overall.

The restaurant was good and the breakfast offerings were perfectly fine, though service was consistently on the slower side during multiple visits. The lobby area can also become extremely crowded during large conventions, especially in the evenings, so finding a quieter nearby bar may be a better option if you’re looking to relax. Overall, it’s a decent stay that gets the job done well for convention travel, even if it’s not especially memorable.

Charged extra fees$$
Pros:

VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. We were charged a smoking fee while we DID NOT smoke in our room and it shows ON CAMERA that we smoked outside on the street. Emily, the manger at the time, discriminated on us stating she could smell our room from around the corner and down the hall , while PASSING 10 OTHER ROOMS she states. How can she pin point it to be OUR ROOM?!? Makes no sense. She stated because she found bits of tobacco in our trash can that “that was enough evidence”. Absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional on their end. Was a lovely hotel and we had planned to stay for more business trips, but not now. DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE DISCRIMINATED ON. This is also being taken further on our end due to the disrespect. $350 added to our stay.

The sheets had MOLD! After complaining I got clean sheets. The next night moldy sheets again! Never coming back!
Pros:

I rate this a zero because if moldy sheets! A $100 credit, keep it! The next night, it happened again! I shall never return. I had no idea that a two night stop could be a horror show.

Nice but expensive add ons
Pros:

Nicely located and kept up and clean!

Cons:

Very expensive to eat and drink at the bar! It was crazy prices! And it wasn’t anything special! It would be different if it was a 5 star restaurant but it’s 5 star prices!

Not the Marriott experience I expected
Pros:

I stayed at the Marriott St. Louis Grand for a conference and was honestly very surprised by the level of hospitality for a Marriott property.

From the moment I checked in, the experience was disappointing. The front desk agent was sitting in a chair during check-in, seemed like she did not want to be there, barely spoke loud enough to hear, never welcomed me to the hotel, and failed to add my rewards number despite me asking multiple times. Each time I asked, I was made to feel like I was bothering her.

The property itself also felt very outdated. The rooms were underwhelming, the beds felt extremely small and uncomfortable, and overall the hotel did not reflect the standard I typically expect from Marriott.

The worst experience happened the following morning at the Starbucks inside the hotel. After being told they were out of the tea I originally wanted, I asked the cashier for an alternative recommendation, which she provided. When I received the drink, it was made incorrectly. I politely explained the issue and asked for it to be remade, but the cashier immediately became argumentative and insisted I never ordered it that way. I restated the conversation we had at the register, and eventually had to firmly ask for the drink to be remade.

While another employee stepped in to remake the drink, the cashier continued speaking negatively about me in an aggressive and threatening manner, including comments like “I’m not the one,” “these f’ing customers,” and “if she want it she found it.” The behavior and tone were completely inappropriate and honestly made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe.

I travel often for work and rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was unacceptable from start to finish. Between the poor customer service, outdated accommodations, and hostile interaction at Starbucks, I will absolutely not be returning to this hotel.

Great location but somethings could be done correctly with staff and the room could have been fixed.
Pros:

The Valet guys were awesome. They were all very poliet and understanding. Really good at their jobs. The Bar was by far the nicest place in the whole hotel.

Cons:

The room had a stain on the floor under a table and the faucet in the bathroom was broke no cold water was avaliable. Other than that is was a very nice room. The hotel lobby person that checked me in looked down on my party like we were at the wrong hotel when she never gave me a chance to show my confirmation number then changed her attitude after she finely search for my reservations that I made online a week ago. I did take her attitude as a kindly type of person.

Avoid this hotel
Pros:

So outdated and dirty. The carpets in hallways are stained. Smelled musty. There were hangers and wine glasses outside my door in hallway when arrived. The shower gel dispenser didn’t work and no soap. I informed the hotel said they would fix. When returned to shower it had not been fixed and still no soap. Multiple other conference attendees said their soap did not work either. The worst Marriott I’ve ever stayed in. I would avoid this property. Super rundown. This place needs a complete overhaul and upgrade.

A Marriott that does not honor reservations.
Pros:

They do not honor reservations. You might reserve double beds (because you have kids), but when you arrive, they just say ‘sorry we don’t have any double beds left.’ Further, Gold status means nothing to them . Personally, I will never stay here again.

Perfect property but if it’s busy downtown, plan to be booked somewhere else.
Pros:

Executive King suite was spacious and perfect

Cons:

They overbooked the hotel for the weekend. I booked my stay 5 months in advance and was staying for the weekend. I got bumped to the hotel 2 blocks away. The Marriott Grand was hosting my daughter’s dance competition and it made it VERY inconvenient to transport 2 little girls and their dance things 2 blocks in the city of St. Louis. I live in the county and was just staying her for convenience. Well, it wasn’t very convenient after all. Plus they didn’t notify me a head of time, which would have been great. I unloaded all of our belongings plus dance props, moved my car a block away to their parking garage, walked all the way back, only to be told to go get my vehicle and pack everything up again to be moved to the other hotel.

There is a 50/50 chance you get AC.
Pros:

This hotel should not be 4 stars. The AC does not work (and there are many other reviews talking about this and the replies form the hotel all say they will fix it. Just stop lieing to us). We told the staff to not come back to the room after they could not find the issue with the AC and they showed up at 11:45 and would not stop knocking on our door. To make matters even worse, the staff tried to move us into a smaller room (no other rooms where available since everyone was here for the World Robotics Championship), and the front desk manager said that the "new' room had working AC and she had checked it herself. Another person with me decided to go check first and it was a good thing we did because that room also had no AC. Another thing, the staff asked if they could bring our luggage to our room but were told the wrong room number by the valet so it was taken to another room before finally coming to us. We were forced to stay here because of the Vex Robotics Tournament and the hotel said they could accommodate everyone but (hint hint) they can't. Please do not stay here, you will come to regret your decision unless you like to stay in a sauna. We had to switch hotels and wish I could give 0 stars. Also I thought Marriott was supposed to be "upscale" and "modern" but this makes any embassy suites I have stayed at look like a four seasons. The only AC you will get is in the lobby.
