The Starbucks in the lobby
The staff was highly rude and when I asked for the possibility of a late checkout I was immediately told no and that the people coming in tonight were a higher commitment. I asked for a reason and the same response given again like I didnt understand her the first time. Just very cold and unfriendly. My $750 for two nights no longer mattered because more $$$ was walking in through the doors later. The store downstairs closes far too early and I was not able to grab some water for my room. The service at the bar was slow. Overall the staff made the hotel experience horrible. I was shocked that not an extra hour could be allowed and the attitude that followed throughout the whole conversation.
Location
Everyone needed more help getting out of parking deck, very confusing what to do.
The close proximity to Busch Stadium.
The sheets on the king size bed didn’t fit well and they kept slipping off around our heads.
Plus the breakfast bar was way too expensive!
The beds were very comfy, and there was lots of room in the room. I enjoyed the amenities that the hotel offered, like the gym and bar.The bathrooms were huge. And i enjoyed the tv having so many options to watch.
The view we had was just the building. I really wish it had a view of the city. I also wish that there was a continental breakfast. I feel for the price that was paid they should offer a free breakfast especially on the weekends.
Updated and clean. Great location.
No complaints.
Took around 25 minutes by road / car to get to the hotel , my first impression was of an older property situated in the commercial/ business district of the city .As you enter the main lobby the open plan bar is in front of you with front desk to the left and hotel store/ shop to the right . Friendly and efficient check in , I registered my bonvoy status , but no points for this quick trip as I did not spend any money at the hotel . Room itself was typical Marriott , room was clean apart from minor issue in bath room area with used soap bar from previous guest still in dish , long hair on shower wall and almost finished toilet roll not replaced by new one !
No bedside clock , bed was comfortable and clean , fridge still had bottle of unopened apple juice from previous guest. Housekeeping did check if my room required service/ cleaning for my second night . Shower was very nice but no rubber mat as bath didn’t seem to be non slip ( I prefer to shower than sit in the bath ) Room sound proofing was pretty good and hotel staff were friendly and helpful. There is a local supermarket 5 or 6 minutes walk from the hotel that sells hot and cold food amongst other things . The Arch and museum are a short walk along with the baseball stadium other attractions are further away . I hope the hotel eventually gets some updating and refurbishing soon .
The Marriott St. Louis is a solid, average hotel that works especially well if you’re attending something at the convention center. The location is definitely the biggest advantage — super convenient and easy to get back and forth without much hassle. The hotel itself is showing a bit of age in places, but it does appear the rooms have been updated relatively recently, which helps the stay feel more comfortable overall.
The restaurant was good and the breakfast offerings were perfectly fine, though service was consistently on the slower side during multiple visits. The lobby area can also become extremely crowded during large conventions, especially in the evenings, so finding a quieter nearby bar may be a better option if you’re looking to relax. Overall, it’s a decent stay that gets the job done well for convention travel, even if it’s not especially memorable.
VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. We were charged a smoking fee while we DID NOT smoke in our room and it shows ON CAMERA that we smoked outside on the street. Emily, the manger at the time, discriminated on us stating she could smell our room from around the corner and down the hall , while PASSING 10 OTHER ROOMS she states. How can she pin point it to be OUR ROOM?!? Makes no sense. She stated because she found bits of tobacco in our trash can that “that was enough evidence”. Absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional on their end. Was a lovely hotel and we had planned to stay for more business trips, but not now. DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE DISCRIMINATED ON. This is also being taken further on our end due to the disrespect. $350 added to our stay.
I rate this a zero because if moldy sheets! A $100 credit, keep it! The next night, it happened again! I shall never return. I had no idea that a two night stop could be a horror show.
Location
Cleanliness, have videos of mold in bed sheets
Clean and comfortable.
Expected better for the hefty price.
Nicely located and kept up and clean!
Very expensive to eat and drink at the bar! It was crazy prices! And it wasn’t anything special! It would be different if it was a 5 star restaurant but it’s 5 star prices!
I stayed at the Marriott St. Louis Grand for a conference and was honestly very surprised by the level of hospitality for a Marriott property.
From the moment I checked in, the experience was disappointing. The front desk agent was sitting in a chair during check-in, seemed like she did not want to be there, barely spoke loud enough to hear, never welcomed me to the hotel, and failed to add my rewards number despite me asking multiple times. Each time I asked, I was made to feel like I was bothering her.
The property itself also felt very outdated. The rooms were underwhelming, the beds felt extremely small and uncomfortable, and overall the hotel did not reflect the standard I typically expect from Marriott.
The worst experience happened the following morning at the Starbucks inside the hotel. After being told they were out of the tea I originally wanted, I asked the cashier for an alternative recommendation, which she provided. When I received the drink, it was made incorrectly. I politely explained the issue and asked for it to be remade, but the cashier immediately became argumentative and insisted I never ordered it that way. I restated the conversation we had at the register, and eventually had to firmly ask for the drink to be remade.
While another employee stepped in to remake the drink, the cashier continued speaking negatively about me in an aggressive and threatening manner, including comments like “I’m not the one,” “these f’ing customers,” and “if she want it she found it.” The behavior and tone were completely inappropriate and honestly made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe.
I travel often for work and rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was unacceptable from start to finish. Between the poor customer service, outdated accommodations, and hostile interaction at Starbucks, I will absolutely not be returning to this hotel.
