Location is very good, just a few minutes from the city centre but very quiet area. Parking only €10 per night in the car park across the road. Air con in the bedroom was brilliant, views from room were lovely. Rooms big and comfortable. Communication via email before the stay was almost immediate, very convenient.
Male receptionist who checked us in and out seemed very lost. Wasn't sure how to do check out. He hadn't a clue what was going on. Ordered two fried eggs at breakfast, they came out after approximately 30 minutes when we were finished eating.
Property was extremely clean The front of house stuff that checked us in on the night was such a lovely man and extremely helpful and also very welcoming.
The only thing I would criticise would be the breakfast I would score it 6 out of 10.
Room was fine and clean, nothing too fancy, definitely didn't feel 4 star. The staff was okay but didn't acknowledge my sister graduating or saw any need to help us serve coffee in the morning. The food was pretty good
It felt like a 3 star hotel at best with the quality of the room and the amenities, plus the staff was so-so.
Disappointing Check-In Experience - Clayton Hotel Limerick
I recently stayed at the Clayton Hotel Limerick on Thursday 20th August, visiting for the Amble concert. Unfortunately, our experience began on a very sour note due to the manner of the male receptionist on duty.
Our room was booked under my sister's name, as she was working and planned to join us later. When we arrived to check in, we were told in no uncertain terms that without my sister physically present with her ID, we could not check in — despite the fact that I had valid ID of my own. No flexibility was offered whatsoever, and the attitude of the receptionist was, frankly, rude and standoffish. This is not the welcome you expect from a front-of-house representative when paying 359 euro for one room with no breakfast included.
We were left with no choice but to leave our bags at the desk. As my sister was coming straight from work to the hotel and had no ID with her we had to arrange for someone to deliver ID to my sister so she could eventually check us all in . This caused significant stress and inconvenience on what should have been an enjoyable day out.
To add to the frustration, when I rang the hotel afterwards, a member of the reservations team told me that we could in fact have checked in as long as either my husband or I had valid ID and that the hotel is quite flexible on this. This directly contradicted everything we had been told at the desk which made the whole situation even more infuriating.
I have stayed in many hotels across Ireland and abroad, and I have never encountered this kind of rigid, unwelcoming attitude at check-in and most certainly not within Ireland.
The receptionist in question is simply not suited to a front-of-house role. His manner was cold, unhelpful and left us feeling unwelcome from the very start of our stay. I would urge hotel management to address this matter. First impressions matter enormously in hospitality, and on this occasion, the Clayton fell well short of the standard guests deserve.

Great location. TV didn't work but reception was prompt organising someone to come to the room to sort. Staff friendly
Nothing
Food overpriced
Location was brilliant as I was attending a concert
The breakfast wasn't great the sausages didn't seem well cooked the black and white pudding wasn't cooked properly I had to spilt it out I'm not one to complain
It was a little expensive for the limited time we spent there. Breakfast good, bed comfortable and our room was beautiful.
Price of drinks in bar, very expensive
