This place was amazing. All the luxury of Marriott without the stuffiness. Beautiful beach. Great service. All the extras.
We brought our family to this resort, including two babies, and it was the perfect place for a family vacation. One of the things we loved most was the spacious two-bedroom condo, complete with a full kitchen and washer and dryer. Traveling with little ones can make dining out challenging, so we appreciated being able to shop at Costco and barbecue dinner each night.
The lagoons were ideal for babies and young children because the water is so calm and gentle. We spent most of our time enjoying the splash pad, water slides, and lazy river, which were a huge hit with the whole family.
We also loved the resort activities, especially the sunrise yoga and water aerobics classes. The gym was well-equipped, although it tended to be busy throughout the day.
What truly sets this resort apart are the stunning grounds. The landscaping and scenery are absolutely breathtaking and create a relaxing, tropical atmosphere. This is one of my favorite resorts, and we look forward to returning again in the future.
We always enjoy this location - exceptional hotel, very friendly and qualified staff and a wonderful environment.
Some exceptional staff that have assisted us are Angel, Nikki Melvin, and Mona.
Thank you for going above and beyond
After staying at multiple resorts during our Oahu vacation, Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club was easily our favorite and the property we would most look forward to returning to.
We stayed in a two-bedroom villa, which was spacious, spotless, and perfect for our family. Our ground-floor location near the pool couldn't have been better and made it incredibly convenient to enjoy the resort.
The entire property was beautifully maintained. The pools were excellent, but the lagoons and beach area were the true highlight. The setting was peaceful, relaxing, and felt worlds away from the crowds found in other parts of the island.
One thing I particularly appreciated was the resort's approach to pool chair availability. After leaving our towels unattended for about 35 minutes, staff removed them. While some guests may not like that policy, I actually applauded it. After experiencing resorts where chairs are claimed for hours and sit empty all day, it was refreshing to see management actively preventing chair hogging. I was able to retrieve my belongings easily and find another chair without any issue.
The only minor inconvenience during our stay occurred at the onsite store. My 20-year-old son carried our shopping basket while I selected drinks and snacks, including alcohol. At checkout, I was informed that because he had carried the basket, I could not purchase the alcohol and would need to return through a different register. It seemed unnecessarily strict and was a bit inconvenient. The employee assisting us was also not particularly friendly.
Fortunately, that was a very small part of an otherwise outstanding experience. The woman who checked us in was wonderful, the restaurant staff were warm and welcoming, and the overall service throughout the resort was excellent.
Having also stayed at other well-known Oahu resorts during this trip, Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club stood out for its spacious accommodations, beautiful grounds, cleanliness, relaxed atmosphere, and exceptional beach experience. It delivered the perfect Hawaiian vacation and was, without question, our favorite stay on the island.
We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to families, couples, and anyone looking for a more relaxing resort experience on Oahu.
From being offered a bottle of water in line for check in, very pleasant check in at the Japanese concierge desk (helping to keep the front desk line moving), and friendly service at Longboards and towel huts. The staff this visit really elevated our experience.
In particular though, Chasen and Maria from the activities staff were great with our kids and with my talkative/inquisitive in-laws as well :)
Chasen made sunset bingo really fun, engaging, and entertaining.
Beautiful lagoon swimming, beach, and walking paths. Heads up that it was still a bit brisk/cool in lagoon end of May.
Relatedly, my only suggestion for improvement would be to heat the pools more. Was cold in February trip years prior and was hoping it would be better in late May with warmer sun and air temps to help, but still we could only stay in a bit at a time before needing the hot tubs.
Marriott Ko Olina is a fantastic place-we’ve been coming here with our family for years. The only problem is that it’s become a free, public playground for locals.
While those of us who spend thousands of $’s a year to secure and preserve our use of this beautiful resort, management and employees turn a blind eye and allow friends and family open access. Nobody ever checks validity of wrist bracelets-have one of your buddies at the front desk get you one and you’re in. Never in 20+ years has anyone asked for our name and room #. I’d welcome it-as would many others. Weekends are the worst-no point, as an owner staying around the resort on Saturdays & Sundays. On those days you’ll see the locals roll in with their ice chests and party supplies. I’ve complained to Marriott-they do nothing. Apparently management and employees want to preserve their relationships with friends and neighbors, so they continue to dominate.
Beautiful setting! Very clean too. You wouldn’t even have to leave the property.
They charged my credit card after the room was paid when booked and tried to collect again at checkout.
This Marriott property is in a great location and tucked away from all the hustle of Honolulu. Southwest on the island, it’s in a developed area with numerous beaches and walking paths.
The Marriott offers a lot of amenities and we really enjoyed our visit.
As adventurous, independent travellers, we never stay at places like this. EVER. Dont think I've ever stayed at a Marriott, I'd usually avoid them at all costs. But through VRBO found a last minute deal for $207 TOTAL. except parking(at $50 per night, by far the most I've ever paid for parking). Paid bit same for total dump in Waikiki-Oahu lodging absurdly overpriced second only to Maui
Check in very friendly and efficient, at about 3, before 4pm check in. Got assigned an 11th floor ocean view room that was great, no complaints at all about the room. We loved the gas grills and used them for EVERY meal. Never spent a dime on Ko Olina property; drove 13 minutes to Safeway in Kapolei instead. Lagoons super murky, nothing to see. A different World than Electric Beach just 2 miles North which is Oahu's best snorkeling and dive site. Never went to the Welcome Center so spared any time share spiel. Check out was just leaving key cards in room with towel cards, easy. Was not really crowded, saw many rooms obviously vacant.
We booked a studio through VRBO. It was basically a small hotel room with a kitchenette - fridge, microwave, sink, hot water pot, coffee maker, dishes, utensils. It was fine for us, but I would not put more than 2 people in it, even though there was a fold out loveseat. The bathroom was spacious and the room was very clean and had a nice view with a tiny terrace. There are free washers and dryers on a few floors, which was handy to dry swimsuits. The place itself was a nice break from busy Waikiki, the lagoon beach is lovely and the pools are nice, especially one that they have a "quiet" adult pool option. Also hot tubs. Towels are supplied. Yes, everything is expensive it is Hawaii. We ate at the Longboards causal restaurant which was nice but so expensive. Also the little shop with sandwiches was crazy expensive so we opted to get a few supplies for the room at the local Target. The parking lot was fine but the spots tiny, we were lucky we did not have a huge SUV to park. We enjoyed walking the path to the other resorts - there's no security which is a bit concerning, but felt very safe. Also walked to nearby Starbuck's and shops. Enjoyed a sunset cruise excursion that left out of the public lagoon which is also walking distance. Ko'Olina is not a far drive from any attractions and there's a Target, grocery, restaurants about 5-10 min drive. There are activities, some free and some an extra charge, which we did not do. Also bbq grills are outside to use. We were texted to visit the "aloha" desk - haha timeshare presentation - but we ignored it and were never pressured to sit through a presentation. Just stay away from the lobby desks. All in all, we enjoyed our relaxing stay.
The Good: The grounds are immaculate, the rooms are well-appointed, and the staff is efficient at managing large crowds.
The Bad: We stayed here for our 40th anniversary and to break up a long flight from Thailand. Unfortunately, the "resort" experience felt more like a high-pressure timeshare trap. When we asked for help with their app at the welcome desk, we were met with misleading sales pitches instead of actual tech support.
The Ugly: Due to the time lost dealing with their app, we couldn't get a dinner reservation and had to eat at the pool grill. I was served a dry, burnt BBQ sandwich that resulted in two days of illness, costing us a significant portion of our trip.
Summary: If you want a peaceful resort stay, look elsewhere. This is a vacation club that prioritizes sales over guest well-being. We lost three days of our vacation to illness and frustration and couldn't wait to leave.
The beach was wonderful and safe. I appreciated a shower room since our room wasn't ready yet.
It was very enjoyable eating dinner next to the ocean and listening to the musician at Longboards. The different pools were beautiful but not heated and it was cold the first of March.
We didn't have an ocean view so the room was dark and dated. For the price, there should have been complimentary water.
This was the only resort ot of 5 that we stayed at that didn't offer anything.
dated, poor room
views, don’t expect anything outstanding.

Probably the worst 5 day experience in recent memory. Highly overpriced and the rooms are falsely represented. Studio was smaller then on a cruise ship. Very dated and in need of a severe overhaul. Not even close to a 4 or 5 star property.
Went to the time share presentation and it was sophomoric at best. Poorly presented and when we declined we were chastised by Laura for not giving her a courtesy call. "It wasted her time". Resort fees are more than the rental fees. This makes no sense.
Too bad such a paradise has been transformed into a "Me To" property.
Ko Olina as a setting is lovely - the lagoon, the sunsets, the leeward weather. That part is hard to mess up. Unfortunately the Marriott Beach Club seems determined to test that theory.
Check-in set the tone. A long, disorganized line with a single agent who processed us with the warmth and urgency of someone at the DMV. No acknowledgment of our Bonvoy status, no welcome, just paperwork. We were assigned a low-floor unit facing the kiddie pool - which, if you've ever tried to relax on a balcony while children shriek from 8am to past sundown, you'll understand the problem. The room was booked as "ocean view," and technically you can catch a sliver of ocean if you lean over the railing and crane your neck past the pool area. Calling this an ocean view is generous to the point of dishonesty. The resort was visibly half-empty during our stay, which made the assignment feel especially cynical, as if non-owner guests get dumped into whatever's left after the good inventory is held back. I asked if we could be moved to a higher floor or quieter side given the obvious availability, and was told room assignments were final. No flexibility, no effort.
Late checkout was another disappointment. I requested just one additional hour on our last day - not an outrageous ask given how few guests were around. Denied without hesitation or explanation. They cited the property being a "vacation ownership" resort as though that absolves them of basic hospitality. Compare this to any regular Marriott where even a modest tier status gets you a simple courtesy like this.
The service throughout was pedestrian at best. Staff were not unfriendly exactly, but mechanical - going through motions rather than creating any kind of guest experience. There's a palpable sense that transient hotel guests (as opposed to timeshare owners) are an afterthought. Nobody seemed invested in whether we were having a good time. Requests were met with shrugs or policy citations rather than any attempt to accommodate.
They squeeze you at every turn. $100 for two covered beach chairs. Overpriced cabana rentals. Mandatory parking fees. The on-site restaurants are mediocre and marked up. The on-site market charges resort-captive-audience prices for basics. At over $1,000 a night for a two-bedroom villa, you'd think some of these things might be included - or at least not feel like a shakedown. The whole experience has a nickel-and-dime quality that is almost comical at this price point.
The rooms themselves are dated - functional, sure, with a decent kitchen layout, but the carpet, furnishings, and general aesthetic feel like 2003. We stayed at the Aulani a few years ago, and the contrast is hard to ignore. Aulani feels like a resort - the grounds, the details, the sense of arrival. The Marriott feels like a well-maintained apartment complex with a nice pool. It simply can't compete with its neighbor on look and feel, yet charges as if it does.
The pools are fine. The lagoon is genuinely beautiful. If you're an MVC owner using points, I'm sure the value equation is different. But as a paying hotel guest, this felt like a property that takes your premium-rate money and then treats you as a second-class citizen. I wouldn't return.
This resort is absolutely fantastic for families. There are plenty of pools on the resort and activities for the kids. The lagoon is located in close walking distance to the property. The lagoon is great for kids as there are no waves, so it is fairly safe for them. There are umbrellas and cabanas that you can rent on the beach front and the staff were very helpful with this. The grounds are well maintained and immaculate.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom 2 bath ocean front suite and the view is worth it. Having the in room washer and dryer was great with 2 kids. It was more than enough space for 6 people. Kitchen was adequately stocked. Definitely hit the Kapolei Costco for essentials if you plan on cooking and making the most of your resort stay. No noticeable noise from the hallway or adjoining units.
If you are able to take advantage of a timeshare offer to stay at this property, it is the best way to do it on the cheap. Retail rates are wild. We will definitely be returning to this property for future family trips.
This is a beautiful resort with a great but small beach. Good location. Great service. Beautiful pools. Highly recommend.
We have been regulars here since it opened. The location, facilities and favorable west side weather make this hard to beat. So easy to get here and then just stay and enjoy. The property is beautifully maintained. Lots to do here along with a great setting for doing nothing. The lagoon beaches are unbeatable for family relaxation. I wish I could feel more love from
the resort for us as guests. Here are the speed bumps:
1) check in and check out is very transactional and cheerless. at predictably busy times the line is punishing after you’ve flown across continents and oceans to arrive for your centerpiece vacation
2) extremely high resort prices for a basic cup of coffee or a mai tai — every single detail has been over monetized and it’s exhausting to feel reminded you’re just a revenue source over and over it reminds me of disney and not in a good way
3) the incessant push to get guests into a sales presentation is the opposite of welcome the resort is set up to force you to go to the “information desk” to figure things out but the info desks are really sales desks. twice I literally just went to ask about an activities schedule or to ask directions and the rep would not give me any help until starting down the name/room number/are you scheduled for an update sales funnel. it was exhausting yes there are actual concierges but they have limited hours and are only behind one desk in one building hidden away from real traffic flow
I am happy for the success of the vacation club but feel the personal warmth and welcome has been lost in the machine.
We stayed here for four nights at the end of January/beginning of February and were pleasantly surprised! We’re not MVC members so we were bombarded with the usual appeals to attend a presentation. We declined and still enjoyed our stay! The best features are the Longboard’s restaurant (excellent food and large portions …got at least 4 different food items on different days and they were all good), the lagoon (deep enough and large enough to actually swim), and the beds (very comfortable). General negatives are the dated look of the room furniture and average experience with the beach set up…you pay $45/day for an umbrella and chairs and don’t get additional towels—you just pick up your own towels at another hut using your card. It’s not terrible but definitely subpar compared to other resorts.
Mostly our experience with staff was very positive, especially the baristas at the Marketplace and Longboard’s servers.
