I highly recommend this hotel. My family and I went to Greece for 8 days starting in Athens. We stayed at the King George for two nights. The location was convenient, the service was excellent and the food was great too! The only downside was that I thought there was a pool. There isn’t one. It is a 15 minute walk to Old Town, a 20 minute walk to the Acropolis and a 15-20 minute walk to great restaurants. You can also have drinks on the 8th floor at the hotel bar next door, which has an amazing view. The Parliament building is a two-minute walk and we were able to see the changing of the guard — which was cool. Everyone from the folks the reception desk to the porters to the waitstaff and maids were attentive and responsive. The restaurant is Michelin rated. They made a small mistake by taking some shot glasses that were gifted to us — thinking it was the hotel’s and they made up for it in spades. Best service you’ll get.
Gostei de tudo, Só faltou piscina!
Não acreditei que numa cidade onde o sol brilha 360 dias no ano, um hotel 5 estrelas não tivesse piscina !
Location and exceptional breakfast and staff
There was no swimming pool and we could hear people talking in the next room while we tried to rest in the afternoon. Walls and floors are not soundproof
את המיקום ואת הצוות החביב
Great location and helpful staff. Lovely breakfast buffet .
Wood floors in rooms were full of scuffs, one of the shower heads required a visit from a plumber. Bathroom had very little counter space
L emplacement
Le personnel très désagréable qui enlève les lampes de table et ferme les rideaux alors que je finissais une cigarette sur la terrasse
Et la table vraiment très décevant
Fantastic hotel, I am a Bonvoy platinum, received a complimentary upgrade to Acropolis view, amenity was a beautiful bottle of liqueur and cookies, breakfast was also provided. Staff were great, very friendly and accommodating. They provided a lovely amenity for my kid on arrival. The lobby bar is quite nice, with an excellent cocktail program. Breakfast wasn’t over the top like some properties but nonetheless it was fresh with local delicacies and an al a carte menu. The views from the 7th floor restaurant were great. Late checkout was accommodated. Fantastic location in a safe neighbourhood, lots of great shopping and restaurants within walking distance. The hotel and room were very clean, noise was not an issue as the windows were thick wound proof glass.
Beautiful plush room and suite (we stayed here twice). Syntagma Square is the best location - you can walk to all the main attractions including the Acropolis and Plaka. 5-8 min walk to great eating places. The hotel is right next to the Parliament Building -you can watch the changing of the guards whilst having breakfast. Excellent breakfast spread in the Tudor Hall restaurant - with unobstructed view of the Acropolis. Staff are incredibly warm and friendly. Special thanks to Dimitrios who attended the front-desk on 24 June 2026 (PM). We arrived exhausted at 12 mid-night, and he was quick, helpful and efficient in checking us in and making sure we were comfortable.
What a lovely and historical establishment, along with its next-door sister the Grand Bretagne. The documentary available on the TV is fun to watch. Only hitch: We’re not a fan of even one-star Michelin “nouvelle cuisine.” But that’s subjective of course. Very well situated, quiet, lovely rooms and areas in both hotels. High tea next door was filling. Breakfasts were sumptuous at the KG.
Beds were comfortable
Rooms tiny and old looking
No pool and spa was out of service.
This was disappointing because you pay a lot of money.
Excellent , if somewhat old fashioned, hotel in a superb position with wonderful views from 7th floor restaurant
Nothing
We recently returned from a brief stay at The King George (family with 2 rooms) - this was our second stay. I feel badly critiquing because the staff does try hard - but we were somewhat disappointed. The hotel was crowded and the lobby area always felt disorganized. There were check in and check out lines and the staff often seemed disorganized and frazzled. The lobby is grand and nicely appointed - there is always water for the guests. The lobby bar area is very nice too. The breakfast is fantastic - one of the best in Athens with a view of the Acropolis. This did not disappoint! And there is a good gym for anyone wanting / needing this service. The rooms seem old and really needing a face lift (I felt this way when last there 10 years ago) - they are clean and cared for but need to be more contemporary. Our daughter had a single room which was way too small and it's interior window faced the breakfast area! Also our rooms were not available until after 4 pm, which is also unacceptable. The staff was apologetic and offered food credits - which is not helpful when you are there for a brief stay. When we came back through Athens we stayed elsewhere and were happier.
The staff were warm and friendly, the restaurants served delicious food, and our tasting menu experience at Tudor Hall was exceptional. The view of the Acropolis and Parliament at breakfast and dinner can’t be matched. We watched the changing of the guards multiple times from the comfort of the breakfast balcony. Each time we interacted with the staff at this hotel, they provided recommendations to elevate our visit. The housekeeping was diligent and the air conditioning was powerful which helped after the warm climate.
The best breakfast !!!
