Petite Auberge is within walking distance of all the downtown attractions, it’s an excellent value with a good breakfast included. Our upgraded room was quite large and included a fireplace. we’ve stayed there before and will stay there again in the future.

One of the better boutique hotels in SF
Pros:

Great staff and convenient location. The hotel is charming, well kept, and very European feeling. The rooms with the fireplace and bathtub are the best.

I really enjoyed my stay.
Pros:

The breakfast and the wine and cheese were great. Loved the fireplace in my room. Very charming hotel.

Cons:

A fridge in the room would have been a bonus.

Great homely stay near the centre of San Francisco.
Pros:

The room was great. Really cute and homely. The hotel was in a lovely area close to things to see and they also had free tea and coffee and an alcoholic happy hour each day which was free and very unexpected. If I visited San Francisco’s I would definitely stay here again. The breakfast was also simple, but great.

cozy small hotel for a good price
Pros:

Very cute and cozy room! also a really good price. the atmosphere is very cozy and fun for a weekend away with a partner.

Cons:

the rooms were very small, but that is to be expected given the price. the door is also tricky to open so beware. not much to complain about.

Amazing overall and the location was great
Pros:

Room was great, shower was great, breakfast was great and the staff were great!

Cons:

The bed was extremely soft — so much so that it created a noticeable slope, leaving our heads lower than our feet. A firmer mattress would make for a much more comfortable stay.

Rustic
Pros:

Petite Suite spacious, nice & cozy except for persistant musty smell. And not enough blankets, and no real sleeping pillows except for large bolster pillows. Good coffee. Deck boards need repair.

I did not feel comfortable at all.
Pros:

The staff was very friendly and had a great vibe.

Cons:

The hotel smells old and is in a significant state of disrepair. All the fabrics on the chairs and armchairs are stained, and the mattresses are worn out — whenever one person moves, the whole bed shakes and wakes up the other person.

The breakfast has no cheese, cold cuts, or scrambled eggs. The price-quality ratio is very poor. It is not what is shown in the photos. There is no one at the reception desk; you have to go find someone at another hotel 20 meters away.

Most enjoyable stay
Pros:

Room was well appointed and comfortable. Continental breakfast was great with ample selection. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lounge areas at Petite Auberge and the White Swan next door were comfy with all-day tea and coffee, bottled water and mineral water.
Location was excellent with easy access using Muni day pass ( for cable car, bus and train) to downtown, Fisherman’s Wharf and further afield to Golden Gate Bridge and elsewhere.

Cons:

Definitely worth staying here
Pros:

I was in the Petite Suite and thought it was a terrific room. Lots of space, little deck outside, and even a gas fireplace. There were some steps to navigate to get to the room and then where breakfast was served, but it all added to the charm and coziness of the place compared to the big box concrete chain hotels.
