Lovely hosts but rooms are tired looking and need a revamp and mattresses seen better days.
Hotel lovely and in a fab location and with a revamp would have got top marks.
Rooms need updating. Mirrors in wrong places.
Good location
Tired and shabby. Worn carpets, broken cold tap, broken flush button on toilet cistern, no shelf for toiletries in bathroom, no headboard, bed head against window, tiny tv, lumpy mattress, very hot room in attic, no ac, tiny noisy fan.
Toilet and needs replacing, toilet had a permanent stain. The room was quite hot. The pipes in the bathroom was very hot they exposed.
Nice area shame about the feral kids stealing from coop across the road
Expensive for a room where the shower just trickled like a dripping tap ,bed very uncomfortable.
The food was excellent- first class evening meal.
Continental breakfast limited bug good value gor money.
Bathroom.and room could both do with makeover - very dated.
Room also very cramped.
great location, nice bar area, staff very friendly
room was small, basic but the tv was laughable, huge empty wall opposite bed and a tiny kitchen tv on corner of wall which the remote control was same size. Breakfast we paid £25 for 2 and no continental , 2 choices of cereal and 3 juice. Toast was ordered and 1 slice brought out. English breakfast was mean for the price at 1 item and not even good quality sausage. Save your money and go to the cafe down the road as poor atmosphere in the dining hall. The table next to us was just full of the owners family who weren’t even eating so just felt a bit awkward. Over heard other guests complaining of paying £7.50 for continental which you’d expect a help yourself stray of pastries etc and same, cereal and juice and 1 toast ordered. Come on guys, you’re missing a trick here - be generous and you’ll get the customers.
Piddling shower
Good location

Really good value
- as expected but just SO hot! Had to pull down the blackout blind in the day as it was unbearable.
Thank god for the small fan
I made booking for several friends but did not stay myself... However, everyone who stayed said it was a good base for the night and that they would stay again in a similar situation
Only thing they mentioned was room size on the 'cozy' side and noise from trains but nothing overly critical.
Its location
We were in a room that is on a list for refurb and the en-suite was up a flight of stairs.
The room was comfortable and clean. Indeed it smelt as if it had recent;y been refurbished! Although the restaurant was quiet, the meal was well cooked and presented. Breakfast is pre-ordered, and cooked freshly rather then a typical hotel buffet breakfast. This makes the experience so much more enjoyable. also, if you do not order everything available on the breakfast menu, the Chef will include extra portions of what has been ordered to make up the value.
The Hotel is an old Coaching Inn. Facilities for those less mobile are, at best limited, and for the disabled almost non-existent. This is not a criticism of the Hotel, but in an old Coaching Inn the scope for accommodating alterations to help is limited.
Pretty little village nice pub staff friendly would definitely stay again
Nothing
Right in the centre of the small town.
Free parking on site
Not so much "didn't like" but more of the realisation that the hotel is tired. It needs a refurb but I don't doubt there isn't the budget to do it.
Breakfast functional.
That said, it served our needs for the night.
"You pays your money, you takes your choice.......!".
Made very welcome by everyone especially the hosts lovely couple.
Young lad carried my suitcase down for me when I left which was lovely
Nothing to really dislike my room was right at the top which was a shame as my knees aren't great but it was all that was left nobody's fault
Fan in the room
Tea & Coffee facilities
