Less expensive and free breakfast
Service seemed to be a general goal but ultimately was at the convince of the owners.
The location was convenient
The place was somewhat dirty, was bizarrely and randomly furnished with bits and pieces from elsewhere that had been randomly placed into this room. Was two full size beds instead of queen size. No shower curtain and when one was requested, it was torn. Place looked like it had been hurriedly painted by a 5 year old. Breakfast was lousy and understocked. Next door to a defunct and run down restaurant that had become an independent church of some sort, which you had to enter next to to get into the parking lot, giving the the whole place the air of a cult compound. This was the third time I have stayed in Ramada in various places. Each time has not been good. Never again. Price was more than we paid in downtown DC (and $75 more than the room rate posted in the room). Said it was under "new management"--always red flag, and was certainly so in this case.
I enjoyed that the property is conveniently located 20 minutes from Hershey Park and 9 minutes away there’s an enormous shopping area with just about everything you would want to shop for or eat. The room I booked was a double bed suite “127” and it was more spacious than the typical double bed hotel room. Beds were comfortable. Staff was friendly. Washer dryer is free. Pool temperatures were great.
The rooms have black out curtains.
It wasn’t as clean as I would expect.
My hotel shower curtain was pretty dirty with pink mildew on it and when I requested a change they said they could not do it until the next day.
Additionally, a few of my towels were pretty stained… I realized they are clean but they were stained enough that they shouldn’t have been in circulation.
Our fabric sofa had red dull stains, don’t know if it was paint or blood or whatever so we threw a sheet over it.
There were never any pool towels at the pool area, which meant you had to take an extra trip to the front desk and wait if there was somebody already being serviced to get pool towels.
Breakfast hot food is the same every morning which by day 3 you’re done with sausage and eggs. Also there is only 1 waffle machine station which makes it quite a wait when you want one since this is the location that has families with children… And we all know all the children want waffles. They would do better serving the waffles in premade trays or at least having a second waffle machine. They don’t have bagels and cream cheese, only white sliced bread, no hard boiled eggs, only powered patties, only 1 yogurt flavor, and only 1 pastry which is blue berry muffins. My first morning there was no fruit when we went. Second morning only a few apples and bananas. It’s very basic. Which is fine if you’re not planning on eating there anyway or a light eater, but if you are and staying more that a couple of nights and wanting to be nice and full before heading to Hershey - it gets very limiting. Holiday inn has way more selection for breakfast and I think next time I would prefer to stay there.
They have these signs on the walls over the food saying “wasting food is like stealing from the poor”. I get they want to reduce wasting… But unless they’re actually donating everything that’s left over at the end of each morning to homeless people… The only thing they are truly asking you to do is save them some corporate bucks.
Location
Television and rooms appear bigger and more spacious in online images.
The breakfast offered enough options for our family. My daughter enjoyed the pool and hot tub.
I didn’t like the mattress but that’s just because I’m used to a memory foam mattress.
It has a pool and hot tub.
We stayed on a Tuesday night and it appeared that several family members lived onsite and the pool was crowded with their children. The children were screaming and splashing everyone who was not related to them and didn’t seem to be supervised at all. The water pressure in the shower was nonexistent.
Location and Value is great
Lighting in the room is a bit dark. Would be a little better with better illumination in the room.
Location
Bathroom not clean and breakfast not good
This is one of the filthiest hotel rooms I have ever stayed in. I was charged over $200. When I brought it to the front desk attendant's attention, I was told because I didn't say anything within 30 minutes there was nothing that could be done. I was not informed of this on check in. I specifically booked a room with the tub thinking it would be relaxing after driving 10 hrs, but I could not even use it. Many things are broken in the room and have horrible repair jobs. The room smells like nail polish. Highly recommend staying elsewhere! They don't care.
ETA: based on their responses to other reviewers and my own individual response I received from them, I'd like to add that I was alone with my 2 children. We checked in late at 730 pm after a long drive and they begged to go to the pool. I obliged to allow them to blow off steam and to tire them out for bed. We stayed for about an hour at the pool. We then quickly changed and went to get food. It wasn't until we returned, ate, and really settled into the room that the smoke and mirrors vanished. I noticed the extent of the uncleanliness and shoddy repairs, which is when I presented this to the front desk. According to them, this was at 1030 pm. I was immediately shut down and refused to even be spoken to because "it took too long" to report. We weren't even in the room prior to that for more than a few minutes to quickly change, and this can be corroborated with surveillance footage at the hotel. I dont see how this changes the facts and why I should be forced to stay in a room in these conditions. Disgusting and horrible way to conduct business.
The room was very spacious. I loved the fireplace. The tub was very relaxing. I loved the guest laundry, that was a bonus as we needed it and didn't have to find a laundry mat. The pool looked very big. The staff were so friendly and very helpful. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect.
We found nothing wrong with this place.
Location was great staff were nice and the room.had plenty of space.
It was busy that weekend so the breakfast was crowded they shut the doors a little early so I ended up skipping breakfast the one day.
Location
Too near the pool, chlorine smell was terrible
I liked how close it was to Hershey Park.
It wasn’t a bad place but not quite as clean as I wanted. For some reason my bathroom door was locked however the staff did react quickly to solve the problem. I went out of my room in the morning and was locked out and had to go get the card reactivated. Staff was good about it.
Room felt wet, floors etc and I assume the bathroom had been cleaned prior to the door being locked. I felt like I could see some mold on the ceiling. I could tell they had tried to paint over it but I’m sure it had to do with the extra humidity in the room. It needed to be addressed some more.
