Hotel was in a good location for the city centre and the staff were friendly. Breakfast service was nice.
Did have to move room once as the air conditioning unit was making some loud noises during the night.
The room was nicely presented but incredibly small.
York is a lovely city and makes for a great short city break but I would not recommend this hotel. Based on my experience even for a budget stay id say this place is overpriced. Had the room more suitably sized for two average sized persons and the staff been a little more attentive my review may be different. Not the worst place on earth but not great impression.
The toilets roll holder was also hanging off the hinges and the TV was scratched. The room was poorly ventilated and was very warm. The air conditioner wasn't great and the window barely opened and even when we tried to shut it the window did not lock. We paid for a double room as a couple and could barely walk around it. If you have to walk side ways to maneuver around eachother in a hotel room then its less of a hotel room more of a storage cupboard. We didnt really get much of a service - staff never asked how are days were or about our experience staying at the hotel. We often weren't greated when entering or exiting the hotel. Often reception was empty. When I dropped of our room key at the reception and said thanks the staff memeber didnt even look at me. As for the food, I never attended the dinning room as no menu was clearly displayed so I dont know what food was avaliable or the prices. I wasnt able to find this information online either. The location is very good its a short walk from the train station and close to the city centre. There are some lovely places for food across the road I recommend La Terrazzina. The staff were very nice, reasonable pricing and good food.
The security of the hotel isn't great. Often the door that is supposed to only be opened via a key to lead up the stairs to the room was left a jaw. As this door is right by reception staff should be keeping an eye on this but i noticed this on serval occasions. As I mentioned staff never really greated guests so anyone could just walk in and around the hotel floors seen as this secure door wasn't really secure.
Friendly staff, comfortable room, great location.
Clean. Breakfast was excellent. Location also very good.
Two twin beds are not as nice as one full or queen size.
Ease of access for my mum who has mobility difficulties. Lovely staff and close to centre of York. Good facilities such as the shower and the size of the room.
The breakfast let the hotel down. Poor choice. Scrambled eggs only (probably from powder). No freshly cooked options such as porridge (which came in an ‘add water to’ pot ☹️
Watery yoghurt and unappealing and limited fresh fruit. Staff did their best and kept everything topped up but I wish we hadn’t paid for breakfast in advance as it was not worth the money.
One other bug bear - no fridge in room.
Apart from that, the hotel was good value for money.
The room was a good size and very clean. Breakfast was amazing. They provide a very large selection of items, hot and cold. The coffee machine has numerous selections. The hotel is situated within walking distance of the train station, about 10 minutes. I walked all over York and found the location very convenient.
They don't offer any food other than breakfast. There are however numerous places near the hotel to get something.
Location, cleanliness and air condition unit works well.
Nothing
Location, clean and lovely staff
Could not stay longer.
Location is great and staff have always been really friendly every time I have stayed.
The only thing was a few body hairs in the shower. We rinsed these away.
Bon emplacement, pas loin du centre ville
Parking de l’hôtel payant pour les clients et peut pratique
All lovely and clean and with a certain amount of style.
Nothing really.
