Breakfast was good with a choice of options. The room was actually a lovey room but we arrived on the day the record high for a June day was broken and our room was showing 31.5 degrees and the heat was oppressive. We asked for a cooler room but unfortunately none were available on our first day but we did get a replacement room with a balcony on our second day.
The room was too hot so we could not sleep. The window would only open a few inches so there was very little fresh air. Fortunately there was the World Cup on TV which I watched till after 3 in the morning but got very little sleep due to the heat which stayed above 30 degrees all night. I realise the exceptional weather was not the hotel's fault and there were 3 fans that helped a little but a proper air condition fan would have made it much more comfortable.
Location
It was tired
Very good
Very friendly, wonderful situation
Nothing
Nice period hotel in a good location close to Ironbridge with plenty of free parking. Good breakfast, nice staff BUT WAY TOO HOT IN OUR (ATTIC?) ROOM! Exceptionally warm day I'll admit, but if the window won't open far due to a child lock and the room's well over 30 degrees all night it ruins the experience...and I'd say the room shouldn't actually have been hired out, especially without offering a discount when we explained the morning after. (Got the impression that the member of staff wasn't entirely surprised).
Otherwise clean and friendly, no noise to speak of etc etc...it was just the unbearable heat that spoiled it, so if you're looking at staying in the summer you might be disappointed. The problem could have been easily rectified with a small airconditioner so let's hope they invest in one.
The location in Ironbridge close to the river Severn
Very good location fronting on to the River and riverside walk.
Parking is quite restricted in the area so great to have guaranteed parking in the hotel grounds.
The location of this hotel is perfect for visiting Ironbridge. The atmosphere is very friendly and the room very clean and comfortable. We stayed in room 1 with a lobby way to the bathroom that was completely private. The room was one flight of stairs up. The staff were very pleasant. The restaurant had a good selection of dishes that were served well and delicious.
The breakfast was self service but the cooked breakfast was good quality and plentiful and tasty. There was a wedding on the Saturday night but it did not impede our stay at all and and the room was exceptionally quiet.
The surrounding gardens and walk along the river was a delight.
All staff were friendly and helpful.
Room was good and breakfast and dinner also very good.
All the staff were very helpful and very nice.
Nothing to add
Evening meal just excellent- but all over super couple of days- Staff polit and very helpful
10 / 10 all round
Easy to find as well and lots parking- gardens delightful
Staff very pleasant
Traditional country house hotel
Very comfortable bed, nice location.
Whilst I understand that staff are sometimes under pressure and especially when there is a wedding and a private dining function on other guests need to be treated equally. I felt the service we received was poor, the room was not really up to standard for the cost in regards to the tv not working, marks on towels and the toilet on arrival. I paid £200 for the night and at check out was told we owed £14 for drinks which I explained was incorrect as everything was paid by debit card at the time of purchase as I prefer not to charge to the room. I feel the receptionist was very judgemental, maybe because I was wearing a baseball cap and had a poor attitude. Why would someone who’s pays £200 a night for a room try and cheat somewhere out of £14 for a couple of drinks just doesn’t make sense, they had debit card details on arrival for anything charged to the room, so please feel to charge me and I will pay for your dishonest guests drinks. I’m more than happy to be the better person but perhaps you should ask the staff to do more stringent checks on what is being charged to what room and by whom.
Great hotel in an amazing location in beautiful Ironbridge. The breakfast was very good too.
The room was very hot with quite a thick duvet, but the weather was above normal temperatures.
Staff, food and location all excellent
It was a hot few days, their is no AC and it made nights too hot as a fan is provided, however there are lots of noisy fans on the site making sleeping difficult with the window open if noise distrurbs you.
