It served its purpose for a 2 night stopover.
Pros:

Room was cool on a very hot day. It was on the ground floor. The bed was comfortable.

Lovely views from the terrace.

Cons:

Room 33. Bathroom door hanging off and difficult to open and close! Hanging space available but no drawers.

Curtain hems ragged and hanging down. Plug in sink didn't work so sink did not begin to fill. Room situated in a grotty area of hotel with a depressing view of a mucky passage and a brick wall! Winter duvet far too hot for any summer let alone a heatwave!
Unimaginative and poor provision for people who have Coeliac and Vegetarian requirements. However, our waiter did his best to be helpful.

Pros:

Beautiful location, however not actually in Macclesfield.
The reception and bar are beautifully decorated.

Cons:

Although I booked a Superior twin room as advertised on Booking.com, when we arrived I was advised quite rudely I hadn't, but she would find us a suitable room.
I asked if it was the same standard and was assured it was.
The twin room was disappointing, poor light as it was at the back of the property next to an overgrown slope. Black mould around the windows, paint work on the windowsill and bathroom scruffy and grubby.
The black chair in the room was thick with dust.

However, the worst part was the bin for 'poo bags' next the front door was full to overflowing. This was avoidable as it was only a few metres from the front reception, where staff seemed to congregate for a chat.

In checking out, I questioned again if our room was a Superior twin room as I was disappointed, only to be advised by a different member of staff, that there are no twin Superior rooms in the hotel and he would pass a message onto the reservation team.

Disappointingly, almost 2 weeks later, I still haven't received a communication or apology from them.

Overall great stay and beautiful wedding
Pros:

Staff were fab!

Cons:

Rooms were absolutely fine but slightly odd with a chaise lounge in the middle of the room but I'm guessing that was only because the bed configuration was a twin and when a double it's placed at end of the bed. Small note the twin beds need valance sheets on them, not greta looking at the bare divans with some stains on 😬

Disappointing in view of cost
Pros:

Nice location - lovely building and plenty of car parking. Breakfast was ok.

Cons:

Needs renovating - very pricey bar with the bar incredibly slow, not enough staff, the room set up for a wedding resulted in not enough tables.

Good view, good breakfast but very dated. Overall an average experience.
Cons:

Communal areas like corridors not very clean, carpets were partly pulled out and then not fitted back properly causing a trip hazard and overall look very very dated.

Bed and breakfast rate fair, but don’t eat or drink there it to expensive for poor quality.
Pros:

The property was ok and the standard rooms are looking very tired, but the room was expected at the value we paid. The breakfast was adequate but nothing special. We ordered vegan sausages for breakfast and got potato and chopped vegetables in the shape of a sausage, something they use to serve 20 years ago, so very similar to the decor.

Cons:

We had an evening dinner in the hotel which was a vegan burger and fries they charged us over £17.00 each and it was very dry and the fries was mainly the small crispy bits, which was very expensive and not very good quality. We ordered drinks at the bar they were also very expensive eg. Large glass of white wine 250ml @ £12.50 for nothing very special, which most probably cost them £8.00 a bottle at the cash and carry.
