Breakfast was good
Ok
Clean
The staff were friendly and check-in was painless. The room was tidy and clean. Even the carpet was/appeared new/clean.
It's always easy to criticise, The room unfortunately while yes it was accessible, that is all it was. This is not a failing of the hotel I will add, my experience of hotels all have much the same issues.
The room we were in had 3 beds, which Is what we asked for, unfortunately for our wheelchair user we had to physically lift him up on the end of the bed, since we couldn't get him alongside. For anyone with a mobile hoist, the hoist will not fit under the bed as they are divan beds.
The bathroom was a wet room. However using the shower means the bathroom gets flooded. There is a drain but it's level with the floor.
There was a slight maintenance problem, but since we were only there for 1 night, I reported it on the way out since it didn't affect our stay.
Our big issue was when we wanted to use the restaurant. Because there was a wedding party there, (and a birthday) we couldn't order food without at least an hour's delay as the chef was busy prepping, however the manager did at least come to apologize, on the plus side there was a Stonehouse bar/bistro just up the road.
Clean rooms, polite staff
Nothing
Personal touches.
Friendly staff.
Good breakfast.
Using a conference room for our business meeting whist hosting other guests, the staff & service was professional, in-person & courteous throughout. The catering provided was first class, thanks to the management for checking in with us during the event, highly recommended venue for your next event.
The actual building and setting have so much potential to be stunningly beautiful however it is very dated and run down. The reception and restaurant staff were nice and polite, this was the morning we left.
Very dated, the stairs were covered with dog hair, which I have two dogs I didn’t take them with me on the trip but even so dog friendly premises should still be clean. The bedroom window didn’t open so if there was a fire outside my door there was no way of escape. On check in it was obvious there was tension between the staff, Clive and Geraldine, although polite to us they were rude and quite snappy with each other. Not a nice atmosphere as a customer! The pool had missing tiles from the steps which would have been quite easy to cut your feet on.
Absolutely loved this overnight spa break. A friend's 60th birthday, 4 ladies in 2 twin rooms. The treatments (mini facial and back massage) were second to none! The evening meal was very nice too.
The hotel gifted our friend a small bottle of prosecco, a birthday card and a lovely note for her birthday. A lovely touch.
A game of croquet on the lawn was a bonus, although we didn't know how to play!
Only 'complaint' would be that the rooms were very hot, although we did visit in a heat wave. A request at reception produced a fan to cool the rooms.
All in all we had a great stay and can't wait to do it again.
Breakfast was utter flop
We recently stayed at the Mollington Banastre Hotel & Spa, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The location is ideal, especially if you're planning a trip to Chester Zoo, and the hotel’s grounds make it feel like a true escape.
We booked a dog‑friendly room, and it exceeded expectations. Spacious, clean, and incredibly comfortable. The open grounds were perfect for taking the dog out, which made the stay even more relaxing.
The heated pool, gym and spa facilities were a real highlight. Everything felt inviting, and perfect for unwinding.
Food-wise, the hotel really shines. The fish and chips were excellent, and the afternoon tea was a real treat. I was also impressed by the range of gluten‑free options, which were clearly thought through. Service throughout was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming.
I’d highly recommend the Mollington Banastre Hotel & Spa for anyone looking for comfort, great food, and a dog‑friendly stay near Chester.
That it was accessible and close to Cheshire oaks and the staff were lovely.
It was dirty, the room was exceptionally hot even though we were provided with fans because our window was sealed shut with perspex we had no access to fresh air. The ‘SPA’ was far from relaxing, pool area was filthy with flies and hair everywhere in the changing rooms.
Location was perfect as we only traveled to Chester town centre and it wasn’t far at all.
This hotel managed to cater a very large group exceptionally well, even if booked very late.
We spent last night at this hotel. It was very good value for money and included a lovely breakfast. The spa and and pool were free to use and the staff were excellent, especially Lindsey on reception.
We have just returned from a lovely weekend stay at Mollington Spa Hotel and had such a great experience. We stayed as a family of four and used the hotel as a base to explore Chester, which worked perfectly. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted so warmly and made to feel welcome straight away.
Our room was clean and comfortable, with a very comfy bed and a bathroom that included both a bath and shower, which was ideal for the family. We ate in the restaurant every evening and, as quite a fussy eater myself, I honestly could not fault the food. There was plenty of choice for everyone. We also travelled with friends who have a gluten intolerance and the staff were extremely accommodating and helpful with his dietary needs.
Breakfast each morning had everything we could have wanted, including tea, coffee, cereals and a great selection of hot food. We also enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea during our stay. The cakes are made on site and were absolutely delicious.
The leisure facilities were fantastic. The gym was fully equipped and we loved using the sauna, jacuzzi and heated swimming pool. It was especially lovely that there was a smaller section in the pool for little ones too, and there were squash courts available as part of the facilities.
The hotel grounds were beautiful and well kept, adding to the relaxing atmosphere. We had an amazing stay and cannot wait to return again with the family.
Great location for spending the following day in Chester. Lovely grounds and swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna were a great asset. We didn't use the gym but it looked well equipped. Room was spacious and spotlessly clean. Comfortable beds and plenty of towels, pillows etc. Staff were great; chatty, helpful and friendly. Always had the time of day for you which is rarely the case, I've found in some hotels. I feelnthe staff are the best asset. It was quiet and we had a great night's sleep. Enjoyed breakfast the following morning. Cereal and fruit to start, followed by sausage, bacon, egg, beans and mushrooms. Very tasty. Also freshly baked croissants, which were lovely. Great value for money. I'd stay again, should I be in the area.
For me, personally, no issue with anything.
Hotel is dated, but I really don't mind the traditional vibe as long as it's clean and comfortable- which it was.
Not as much on offer at breakfast as in some hotels I've stayed in (range of pastries and fruit, yoghurt, cheeses, granola, smoothies etc) but they've been double, even triple the price. I felt the offering was ample considering the price paid and we were more than fueled up for the day ahead.
The garden, so tranquil and calm.
That I couldn’t stay longer.
