A well presented, interesting, clean and very comfortable hotel with friendly, helpful staff. And the food is very good too.
The only thing that struck me, we were in room 14 up a back staircase, was that, if that staircase had a fire, we'd be toast! The only fire exit from the rooms on this corridor is back down that stair case. There is a fire extinguisher on the landing outside the room....did I know how to use it??

The hotel is very impressive from the outside but also very beautiful inside.
The staff were helpful and the restaurant food was excellent.
I felt the room was on the small side for the price paid and as we were on the second floor it may not be suitable for an ageing guest. We are fit and caused no problem for us but I think this needs to be made very clear to people booking.
Location, room, staff and breakfast were all really good. I couldn’t fault it. I also like that it is dog friendly.

Some of the furniture and decoration were poor reproductions.

Room 3 is poorly furnished. One, hard, upright chair for two of us. A bathroom with a toilet flush that would awaken the dead.
A poor breakfast menu with little variety.
A dining room that resembled a barn too brightly lit with blank, unremitting walls (other than a paper mural on one wall that cheapened the decor).
Piss elegance with a fur coat but no knickers.
Great location,a short walk to all the pubs, restaurants and shops.The shower was fabulous. Pleasant bar area.
The breakfast wasn't the best full Scottish I've had,mushrooms were luke warm and the bacon was fatty,plus only 1 sausage.
Well appointed facility with pleasent staff who could not remedy the faults of management.
The online guest registration contained this statement: "Our restaurant is open every evening from 6.30 for fine dining and on Sunday we offer a traditional Sunday roast." When we arrived we were told they do not serve food on a Sunday evening. The kitchen is closed and we were told to go elsewhere. This outcome cannot be read into the e-mail we recieved. If I wanted fish and chips on Sunday night I would not have booked the Moffat House. Management has failed us and their staff.
