Pros:

Breakfast was decent. Location was good

Cons:

They passed the hot tub off as a kiddie pool. I booked there for the pool and “hot tub” and it wasn’t even heated. Never again. Very disappointed

It was very disappointing.
Pros:

Didn't try the breakfast. We were put off by the ceiling leak into a trash can at the entrance to the food area.
The coffee tasted burnt.

Cons:

The whole place was very outdated. The room was dingy. The wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling off in several places and stained.

Very dirty and smelly...would not stay again
Cons:

The room was filthy and smelled very bad. The bathroom was the worst. The toilet was dirty with pubic hair and some smear on the seat. There was hair on the floor and the shower. The room was very dusty with white powder on the carpet like a scented cleaner that was supposed to be vacuumed but wasn't. There were cobwebs everywhere. The linens had been changed but the room was clearly not cleaned from the previous stay. Our children left to go stay with a friend as they didn't feel comfortable staying there. We asked for a new room but were told they were sold out. I had to use the public restroom downstairs to go to the bathroom as I couldn't bring myself to use the dirty toilet. We were 2 1/2 hours from home and it was very late so we had no choice but to stay; however, I woke up throughout the night and was disgusted by the smell. I would not stay here again.

Terrible customer service for booking reservations and property missing from room
Pros:

My wife's recent experience with Best Western was extremely disappointing. We expected much better from a hotel chain with Best Western's reputation.

She recently booked a reservation for approximately one week (August 12 through August 18) at the Best Western in Clifton Park, New York. The purpose of her stay was to be close to her elderly mother, who was being discharged from the hospital and required care at home.

While making the reservation by phone, my wife accidentally provided the wrong dates and ended up booking a stay for the following week instead of the week she actually needed. She realized the mistake immediately after ending the call and called back right away to correct it. Importantly, she was not asking to cancel her reservation. She simply wanted to keep the reservation and move the dates back by one week.

Unfortunately, the representative she spoke with told her that changing the dates was not possible. According to him, the only option was to cancel the reservation and create a new one. However, because of Best Western's no-refund cancellation policy, she was essentially being told that she would lose roughly $1,200 due to a simple booking error that she had attempted to correct immediately.

Adding to the frustration, none of the reservation calls appeared to be handled by hotel staff at the Clifton Park location. Every representative she spoke with seemed to be part of an outsourced call center, and communication was often difficult due to language barriers and a lack of familiarity with her situation.

At that point, she ended the call because it was clear she wasn't getting any help. Fortunately, after calling back and spending nearly two additional hours on the phone, she finally reached a representative who was able to resolve the issue by providing a voucher and helping her rebook the stay correctly. While she appreciated that person's assistance, it should not have taken multiple calls and several hours to fix a simple date mistake made moments after the original booking.

The entire process left us questioning Best Western's reservation policies. It is very difficult to understand why a reservation date cannot simply be modified, especially when the customer contacts the company immediately after booking. Requiring a cancellation while simultaneously enforcing a strict no-refund policy creates a situation that feels unfair and unnecessarily punitive for customers who make honest mistakes.

After finally resolving the reservation issue, we discovered that she needed to arrive one day earlier than planned. Once again, what should have been a simple change turned into another frustrating ordeal. Rather than adding a single day to her existing reservation, she spent nearly two more hours on the phone with multiple representatives before she was finally able to arrange an additional night's stay. The first representative either could not assist or chose not to, and she only received help after calling back and reaching someone else.

In addition to the reservation problems, she experienced issues with the television in her room on multiple occasions. The problems were significant enough that a maintenance technician had to visit her room several times during her stay.

On her final day at the hotel, she discovered that a bag containing some of her clothes was missing. She cannot say what happened to it, and she did not witness anyone taking it. However, the maintenance technician was the only employee who was ever in her room without her being present, as she did not use housekeeping services during her stay. The disappearance of her belongings was never satisfactorily explained, and it left her with serious concerns.

In the end, she spent more than $1,500 with Best Western and came away with an experience defined by poor customer service, frustrating reservation policies, and missing personal property. Given these issues, she will not be staying at the Best Western in Clifton Park again. We expect to make additional trips to the area while caring for her mother, but we will be choosing a different hotel in the future.

Overall, this was one of the most frustrating hotel experiences my wife has ever had, and it fell far short of the level of service we expected from a national hotel chain.

Disappointing
Pros:

The location was great.

Cons:

Used bedding lined the hallways the entire stay. For the three ights we stayed there, our room was never made up nor the linens & towels changed. Our room had a whirlpool bathtub but no stopper, so my partner could'nt take a bath nor could we utilize the whirlpool. Exhaust fan in bathroom didn't function well.

Not good
Pros:

Easily accessible off of 87.

Cons:

Got to the motel at 4pm and our room was not ready. Waited 30 minutes for the room. Couldn’t get room on the first floor. The tv didn’t work and was told they couldn’t look at it until the following day. At breakfast there were no eggs- no fruit- no bagels-no danish. The room was not cleaned for the second night of our stay.

I have been coming to this BW for almost 20 years- 2 or 3 times during July and August. I expect a lot better. I was charged full price

Best Western ABOMINATION
Pros:

This hotel was the biggest dump I’ve ever stayed in. Upon checking into our room, I discovered hair all over the bed. It was obvious the sheets hadn't been changed before our arrival. There was food, garbage, and filth all over the floor and nightstand. It was a total abomination. We called the front desk, and they didn't have another room for us, so they insisted on sending someone up to clean the room immediately. The cleaning person showed up with no socks or shoes on, half way changed the bed sheets, then walked out and disappeared. At this point we were totally skeeved out and decided to find another hotel. We went downstairs to check out, expecting a full refund since we had checked in less than an hour before this happened. The manager refused to speak with us, and the front desk staff told us we should have mentioned something about the room as soon as we arrived (which is exactly what we did). Then they tried to blame us for the filth in the room and refused to give us a refund. This was a disgrace—shame on the staff and shame on the hotel. People need to do better..
