Excellent stay in a historic hotel
Pros:

A lovely heritage property, reasonably close to city centre cafes and restaurants. Very comfortable rooms, with heat pump, so nicely warm on a winter evening. The hotel restaurant was good, and the lounge area was great for a pre dinner drink in front of the open fireplaces. A great stay, we would certainly stay again!

Cons:

No issues

Incredible value, excellent hotel
Pros:

Incredibly great value. This is a very nice old hotel, quite posh really. Good bar and restaurant, beautiful rooms, staff were super helpful in every respect. Hospitality at its finest. And the location is spot on. It also has a geothermally-heated pool!

This was the cheapest, and best, room we bought during our roadtrip in NZ.

However, the parking can be a pain. Only a few spots on site and if you don't get there early enough to get one of those, parking is meter parking on the street, which is very busy during the day. Free before 9am so if you leave after 9am you'll have to be a New Zealander who can register for the parking payment app for on-street parking, or maybe cop a fine.

Away from ‘modernity’
Pros:

It was a good experience. We had a baby with us, that slept very comfortably, all night… like an angel!! They were very accommodating to all our needs. A great experience, for who wants to get away for a ‘modernity’. Many thanks.

A wonderful stay, right in the heart of Rotorua
Pros:

We were very pleased with our extended stay at the Prince's Gate Hotel. The staff were wonderful and very accomodating. Since it wasn't very busy and we were staying for over a week, they offered to upgrade our room to one that had a kitchenette which really elevated our stay. We spent every morning and evening enjoying the thermal spa which had been recently rennovated and was perfect after a long day of hiking. The location was very convenient to everything in Rotorua and we were able to walk to most places that we wanted to visit, as well to the grocery store. We even decided to extend our stay an extra two nights and they made it very easy. Highly recommend this hotel if you are planning to stay in Rotorua.

Unique and cosy hotel that feels a bit like living in a film set.
Pros:

The rooms and everything is very colourful and really unique. It felt a bit like sleeping in a film set. The staff was very friendly and the hot pools great to relax in the evening.

Cons:

There is the option to choose no room service or "green" room service, in order to save resources etc. Although I picked the green service, because I really do not think new towels etc. are needed after one night, this was ignored and everything was fully serviced anyways. Although I assume this has good intentions I feel like my wish is not respected.
