The care and detail taken in restoration and fittings. Staff very helpful and friendly.
The looks and real amenities so colonial and yet modern with open fire in lounge and a chance to engage with fellow guests. gusts
Perhaps modernising the kitchen sink

The receptionists were wonderful, cheerful and very helpful.
The room was awesome. I loved the old style.
I did find the heating was too hot, but not a problem as I turned off the radiator and kept the top window open. Just can't please everyone, eh?
I ate at the bar once, and thoroughly enjoyed my meal of shrimp
Friendly staff. Perfectly located. Lovely building. Very warm rooms in then middle of winter
The style, rooms and staff
We stayed in one of the designer rooms. It was beautifully decorated, with wonderful colours, fabrics, carpets, drapes, paintings etc. The room was spacious, welcoming, comfortable, clean, quiet and warm. It had all the amenities we needed. The bed was very comfortable. We sat and spent some time in the evening sitting in the beautiful lobby area in lounge chairs reading the paper. We normally opt for modern style accommodation, but we thoroughly enjoyed this change of decor, style and the history of the building. This hotel has an old world charm but doesn’t sacrifice anything for the lovely ambiance. It is very well situated with off road parking. The staff were lovely. Next time we return to Rotorua we will be staying here again.
Great location, well maintained, friendly staff.
Bathroom could be cleaner.
Really great decor in shared spaces and our room. Lovely staff and the hot pools and sauna are fab! Great location right in the centre of Rotorua - walking distance to lots of eats, lakefront and Polynesian Spa
Charming hotel full of character.
Room was clean and beautifully decorated, breakfast buffet was v nice.
The highlight of the booking was the vibe and the Victorian decor of the hotel. The staff were really friendly and the pools were nice too.
The room I booked was said to have an extra large double bed but we were given two single beds joined together with not enough cover on top, so the partition felt really uncomfortable in the middle.
Location
Experience was great, but in all honesty was overpriced and not that clean
We stayed here the night of our wedding. The staff had put our bags in teh room as we didn't arrive until 1.30am and there was no worries with this. Thank you
The room was beautiful, comfortable bed, good shower ✨
We stayed 2 nights, the first night we used cups and spoons but when we came back after being out the second day the dishes were not washed or taken away and replaced. If there was a tea towel in the room we would have washed ourselves. Also we feel there should be bowls, plates and cutlery in the room. Otherwise happy with everything. Raewyn 🌈
Great experience! Staff super helpful and friendly. Lovely historic hotel, charming and the rooms decor, so different to normal hotels, beautifully done.
Hot pools were great to relax in. Will definitely be back.
