Exceptional hospitality and beautiful surroundings
Pros:

Location is perfect, just steps from the Duomo and surrounded by some of Milan's most beautiful streets and shops, including a personal favourite, Peck.

The staff were exceptional and made me feel genuinely cared for. Milan was the final stop on a three-week journey that had its share of challenges before I arrived, and staying at Matilde felt like a reward. Mir, who assisted in guest services, in particular, was outstanding - thoughtful, attentive, and consistently kind.

Matilde is a charming old-world boutique hotel that captures the elegance of a different era. It offers the kind of personalized service that has become increasingly rare in modern travel. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed, pampered, and completely at ease. As an experienced business traveller, I especially appreciated the rare combination of central location, comfort, and genuinely attentive service.

I would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a refined and memorable experience in the heart of Milan.

Great central location.

Cons:

Very little. To get a 10, I think the breakfast offer could include the à la carte choices the restaurant offers to the public immediately below the hotel breakfast area. It seemed a bit odd that there was just the buffet option.
