The bed in the room I was allocated had the worst mattress I have seen in a long while. It was like a hammock. I asked to move room to a single room where I could move the mattress and sleep on the floor. Come on booking.com this is not acceptable!

I’m sure in its day it was the place to stay and with a touch of magic and time love and hard work it could be something

The location was fantastic for what we required of our stay. The bar area is quite nice and the food in the restaurant was ok, the staff were not the friendliest.
The breakfast was nice and the head waitress Maggie is an absolute Gem of the hotel, her witty cheeky personality unfortunately hasn’t rubbed off on other members of staff.
The water pressure is crazy takes seconds to run a bath .

Cons:

It is a little dated and I’m not sure the head of house keeping checks the rooms before guests arrival as there were several little things that should of been dealt with,
Curtains lacked hooks to stop them falling of the end of the pole and also not enough hooks on pole. Only one window opened, we asked for a double bed and got given two single beds pushed together and we kept rolling into the gap.
The extractor fan didn’t work, the shower head was faulty and sprayed out and soaked the bathroom floor realised I could re angle it, but the top of the shower was thick with dust.
The carpets are thread bare and it definitely doesn’t have good sound proofing.

Lovely stay
Pros:

The location was excellent, it was clean, comfortable. Breakfast was good - the best porridge I have had in years.

Cons:

Not a lot... if I was being picky then a better selection of tea bags in the room I.e. fruit teas

After staying here numerous times I think we may start looking for somewhere else to stay unfortunately

Our room was great , food lovely and easy check in and out housekeeping was great too

Cons:

Lack of staff and on our last evening the bar was closed at 8.30pm. Yes there were 3 other people in the bar at the time and as we departed to our room my husband heard the staff closing the bar - what if we had changed our mind!!!

POOR PLUMBING IN THE ROOM, ALARM GOING OFF 43 TIMES AT 6 AM ON SUNDAY MORNING, NO FOOD AVAILABLE ON OUR ARRIVAL DAY DUE TO A FAULT IN THE KITCHEN. NO PHONE IN THE ROOM, NO COMMS REGARDING FIRE ALARM SOUNDING.
