We loved it here! We wanted a stop over somewhere close to the Cotswolds and this was great - we had the buffet for both dinner and breakfast and just embraced the gorgeous surroundings! As we only stayed for 1 night we didn’t get to enjoy the activities/spa - we wish we had more time.
Snooker table, golf, snooker table and jacuzzi and food was great
Swimming pool not deep enough, room not cleaned during check in thus did not check in till after 5pm, gowns missing from room
Lovely place.
Great property and location. Majority of staff were friendly and welcoming. Nice options for food and great vibe all around.
Reception during the day were NOT friendly, helpful or accommodating. Every time you would walk past they would actually try not to make eye contact to help. One lady when talking to me did not look up from her screen once spoke to me in an accusatory tone and then dismissed me when I tried to ask follow up question. The room needed a slight uplift and there was mold around the window which was not nice. Reception should do better! No one even present at check out.
For those reasons alone I would not return to this location even though it was a lovely hotel and facilities.
Location and decor
Some of the staff came across as rude
Beautiful
Nothing
3 course dinner was very good, as was the breakfast.
Swimming pool and spa facilities were excellent, including outdoor jacuzzis.
All areas of the hotel, including the grounds were presented to a high standard. Our bedroom was spacious, cleaned to a high standard and tastefully decorated.
Staff were excellent and very helpful and friendly.
As we were expecting from rooms booked on Booking.com, our room overlooked the bins. The bins were food waste bins!!
We were woken up at 5.30am by a dustcart reversing under our window and could not get back to sleep, as the staff entrance must have been below our room and staff were talking and laughing as they came into work early.
Our table in the restaurant was located in a walkway area between the 2 main restaurant areas, so the staff were constantly walking passed our table.
I did mention when booking that our stay was to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday and had hoped that we would have been allocated a room with a better view than the bins.
The bedroom was very comfortable and a large size. the bed was very comfy, room was Clean
When we came back to the hotel after a wedding at midnight, we walk into our room (had already pick up the key from reception at 12 am but couldn't checked in), the room had already been used, towels on the floor, bed not tidy...
we were tired and security moved us into our second room as we had 2 room booked but our daughter didn't come.
So in fine, we had 2 rooms booked and payed already but only one could be used. We need to be reimburse of one.
The room was lovely, it was spacious and clean. The food was fantastic, breakfast had so many options from the buffet as well as freshly cooked from the kitchen and the dinner couldn't be faulted. Brassiere 32 is better than Travelling Duke - its fine dining vs pub classics however we enjoyed meals at both restaurants.
There is so much to do and see at the hotel and we feel like we haven't seen it all - looks like we will need to book again!
Witnessed some staff bullying in the Travelling Duke - they have agency staff due to vacancies and unfortunately it caused a sour atmosphere. Our waitress was at one point in tears due to the treatment of the other members of staff - Natalia was great, we didn't see any issues with her work/service.
Beautiful grounds, beautiful building, good facilities
Confusing where to park, confusing signage throughout the building
Bed was comfy. Bat staff attentive spa nice
Can't check in until after 3pm.(key won't work even if room is ready) early check out 10am!
Breakfast was no more than ok. It looks like a beautiful building but if you are in the south wing it is a 10 minute walk to the spa and not in the beautiful building.
The Cody is in no way representative of the hotel. In my case I wouldn't have paid half.
Great location
Tasty food
Nice to have evening entertainment and bars open late
The small double bed was not very comfortable and the room was quite small
Very clean exceptional value for money
Very confusing regards evening meals.
