I won’t go there again
Pros:

The location

Cons:

It’s not to the standard as TAJ. Facility is old. Poor maintenance. No fan extractor in bathroom- you suffocate after 5 minutes of hot shower. Bathroom not clean and tidy. Food at breakfast not that great. I had to book shangrila for dinner as the Taj buffet was not attractive at all. Gym was old. Anyway, I won’t go there again

First of all the air conditioning in the room was very bad we complained about it but they say this is the best you can get
Secondly we ask to send some bottles of water they say sending them but no one bring it

Taj Samudra Hotel Review
​Our stay at the Taj Samudra was fantastic from start to finish. The hotel is in a great spot right by Galle Face Green, making it easy to get around while still offering beautiful ocean views.
​A huge thank you to our housekeeper, Aloka. His attention to detail was incredible, and coming back to such a spotless, well-cared-for room every day made a big difference.
​The team up on the Level 6 Executive Lounge also deserves a special mention. The service there was consistently professional, welcoming, and sharp without ever feeling stuffy. Down at the pool, the pool staff were equally great—always attentive and friendly.
​Overall, it’s a well-run hotel with a brilliant staff who genuinely care about guest service. We'd happily stay here again.

Very disappointed
Pros:

The location of Taj Samudra is excellent, especially being close to Galle Face and the Colombo city centre. The hotel also has a well-known reputation, and the overall location is very convenient for exploring Colombo.

Cons:

Unfortunately, the stay did not feel worth the money I paid, which was around £81. The bathroom was extremely small and cramped, which I did not expect from a five-star hotel. I also noticed dampness and moisture on the walls, and there appeared to be mould or fungal growth around the lighting area, so the room needs better maintenance.

I was also disappointed with the swimming pool. Considering the hotel's excellent location near Galle Face and the ocean, I expected a rooftop pool or at least a pool area with a beautiful sea view. Instead, the pool is located downstairs at ground level, and I could not really enjoy the beach or ocean view from there.

Overall, based on my experience, the facilities and room condition did not meet the five-star standard I expected, particularly for the price. The hotel has a great location, but the rooms, bathrooms and leisure facilities would benefit from renovation and better maintenance.

Faltaban toallas, no por capricho sino que solo había un juego, plancha medio rota y sucia con enchufe europeo que no encaja en los del propio hotel. Lo mismo con el secador con enchufe europeo. Y si no quieres comprar uno nuevo pones un adaptador...detalles que no esperas de un hotel 5 estrellas

Good location and very relaxing place. Wonderful staff members, especially the kind young girl from the hearing impaired community. They are working under the new tourism framework. My great thanks to her for her welcoming attitude and kindness.

Not recommended, there are much better options for this price
Pros:

Staff very friendly and helpful, nice views and best location.

Cons:

Very bad rooms mold everywhere, lights and sockets not working, sink clogged up, and the worst: very moldy/humid bad smell...
The rooms are old and in very bad shape.
Overall nowhere near a 5 star rating, more like 1 or 2.. just the staff and service was 5 star.
These things are unacceotable for a 5 star hotel and the price is not justified, feels like a scam.
