Decent Stay
Pros:

Smooth booking experience:
Booking through Booking.com was seamless and hassle-free.
Excellent hospitality:
Check-in and check-out were efficient, courteous, and well managed.
Thoughtful touches:
We appreciated the cake and room decoration arranged for us, which made our stay feel extra special.
Comfortable room:
Our Sea View Room was spacious, comfortable, and offered beautiful views of the Arabian Sea and the Gateway of India.
In-room dining:
The food was consistently good, arrived promptly, and was one of the highlights of our stay.
La Patisserie:
The pastries here were excellent and easily among the best culinary experiences during our visit.
Service recovery:
We were disappointed to receive a late-night message, just a day before check-in, informing us that our Afternoon Tea reservation at Sea Lounge had been cancelled. However, we genuinely appreciated the efforts made by the hotel team to rectify the situation by arranging an Afternoon Tea reservation for us on the day of our check-out. They also graciously extended our check-out by two hours. These thoughtful gestures are what we have always associated with the Taj brand and are the reason we continue to choose Taj whenever we travel.

Cons:

Breakfast Buffet

The breakfast buffet offered an extensive selection, but the quality simply did not match the variety. Many dishes were served cold, the bakery selection was below the standard we expected from a Taj property, and even the Indian breakfast offerings lacked flavour.

Having stayed at several Taj properties over the years, including Goa, Hyderabad, and other cities, we can honestly say this was the most disappointing breakfast experience we have had at any Taj hotel. Given our consistently positive experiences elsewhere, we had come to expect a much higher culinary standard from the Taj brand.

Afternoon Tea at Sea Lounge

Unfortunately, this turned out to be the biggest disappointment of our stay.

While the spread featured a wide variety of savouries and desserts, the overall quality simply did not justify its reputation. Most of the dishes lacked flavour, and the pastry and bakery selection was particularly underwhelming. Even the signature Indian snacks, which we had expected to be a highlight, were surprisingly disappointing.

The service also left much to be desired. While enjoying Afternoon Tea, the staff were not particularly attentive, and we repeatedly had to seek their attention for even the most basic requests. For one of the hotel's signature dining venues, the level of service did not reflect the standards we have come to associate with the Taj.

We had also looked forward to the famous Sea Lounge views, but they didn't quite meet our expectations. While the ambience is elegant, the sea view is enjoyed through relatively small windows rather than offering a wide, uninterrupted panoramic outlook. Given how highly the venue is spoken about, we found the view less impressive than we had anticipated.
