The proximity to airport

Cons:

The customer service was not great. The staff was not at all accomodating about our needs as guests. An early check-in was requested as I was travelling with a four year old child, which was denied. So we agreed to pay for an extra night. Once in room where we wanted some rest, we were called twice to come down to lobby to pay for extra day as if it couldn't wait. So we checked-in at 4am, all exhausted from an overnight flight, now dealing with phone calls. Our original booking was to start at 12pm same day. But considering the lack of basic hospitality and courtesy, we cancelled. Now check-out was 2pm. At 2pm, we requested an hour late check-out, again denied. So we stayed a total of 8hrs to sleep most of it with two phone calls to break that well needed rest for a payment which could have easily been done at a later time, followed by no courtesy of any sort for any of our requests. Upon bringing this up, the response was very casual with zero empathy. Was not a very ideal start to a great vacation. I wish the staff was more empathetic and courteous.

Relaxing Hotel
Pros:

We stayed at Vivanta Garden Hotel for a few hours while in transit through Colombo. It is a beautiful hotel set in a large, peaceful green garden, just about 10 minutes from the airport.
The hotel is very clean, well organized, and has a relaxing atmosphere. All the staff were warm, welcoming, and friendly, making our short stay very comfortable.

I would especially like to mention Raini, who was exceptionally kind and hospitable. She went above and beyond to help us and made us feel truly welcome. Her excellent service deserves special appreciation.

I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Colombo, especially travelers, looking for a comfortable place to stay close to the airport. It is an excellent choice for both short transit stays and longer visits.

Comfortable stay but slightly old hotel.
Pros:

It's a good hotel. All requests were fulfilled quickly. Our room view was beautiful. Beds comfortable. Cot provided was bed level which was fantastic. Location is close to hotel and a marketplace outside. Breakfast was sufficient and various.

Cons:

The property seemed a little old. There was a smell in the corridors because of the humidity but not in the rooms.

Highly recommend for customized cakes..
Pros:

We ordered a special customized cake for our Management Team from Vivanta. Special thanks to Mr. Logesh for his excellent coordination & support. The cake was delicious & beautifully presented. Great service & great taste!

Close proximity to airport, fantastic breakfast selection, great-start to Sri Lanka trip, the staff were very friendly and allowed us to be in the pool before opening time

Dismal performance
Pros:

Relatively close to the airport if that is important to you. Tried calling the reception and the duty manager multiple times from the room, no answer ever. When I went down I brought it to their attention. No apology just blank faces. Ordered a pork chop and asked for broccoli instead of potatoes or rice. Was told not available but could be substituted by cauliflower. Then got some wilted salad leaves. No dressing, no tomatoes, just wilted leaves. Finally after some debate I got Cauliflower. Then had some unidentifiable something on my plate. The chef then came to identify it and proceeded to put his fingers on my plate to taste. Mortified. How do these places survive? Is bad and mediocre the new norm? Or is their guests profile just so bad that no standard is acceptable? On check out they even charged service charge for bad service. After complaining about everything the duty manager refunded me but only the service charge. Dismal performance by an incompetent staff team.
