Fantastic hotel and very comfortable stay
Pros:

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Niu Manchester whilst visiting the Palace Theatre. The hotel is conveniently located close to the city centre of Manchester. Parking is ample and £5 for IHG members. Check-in was very quick with pleasant staff. The room itself was clean, well decorated and the toiletries provided have a very pleasant scent. The hotel has a great atmosphere, the lounge downstairs is decorated nicely with a pool table available, a bar with great lagers on draft and 24/7 staff. There is a refreshment area in the hotel lobby complimentary for all guests including coffee machines, tea facilities, waters with different flavours and a fruit selection. This is available 24/7 for guests.
This hotel was great value for money also and you get a lot of amenities for a very reasonable price. The room is kitted out with a Smart TV that you can cast your phone to as well as a bluetooth speaker in the room.
Highly recommend this hotel.

GB Cycling has been using the Holiday Inn – the niu Loom for training camps and competitions over the last few years, and it continues to be an excellent choice for our teams.

The hotel consistently provides a warm welcome, professional service, and a high standard of accommodation. The staff are always friendly, accommodating, and understanding of the unique requirements that come with hosting athletes and support staff. Whether it's coordinating group arrivals, assisting with equipment storage, or being flexible around training and competition schedules, the team goes above and beyond to help.

Horrendous treatment
Pros:

I stayed at the niu Loom Hotel Manchester recently and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience related to parking guidance and customer service.

I arrived with three family members, in three separate vehicles, and we all checked in together. Before parking, I asked the reception staff several times whether any payment or registration was required. I was only asked whether I was an IHG member. I provided my membership number and was told that I did not need to pay. No one informed me that only certain membership tiers receive free parking or that a £5 fee applied. If this had been explained, I would have paid immediately.

Despite all three vehicles following the same check‑in process and receiving the same information, only one vehicle received a ParkingEye penalty. This inconsistency suggests that the parking process was not clearly communicated or consistently applied.

When I later tried to resolve the issue, the communication from management did not align with the guidance I received at check‑in. Emails were difficult to get acknowledged, and the explanations provided did not match what was said by staff on the day.

My experience highlights the importance of clear and accurate information for guests, especially regarding parking. I would encourage future guests to double‑check parking requirements directly and ensure they receive clear confirmation at the desk.
As the hotel management can cook up lies to suits their narratives.
