The grounds were so pretty
Great location in Mackinac Island
The rooms were pretty small. Especially no. 400 the roof slopes so not good if you are tall.
Location was great, staff were very knowledgable.
Easy access to downtown. The hot tub outside was a nice addition and even though we didn’t use it the games and fire pits were nice. They also gave us some Rybas fudge for our anniversary along with a nice note!
Even though it was a beautiful place being on the second floor we could hear the people above us walking around, dropping things and people talking in the hallway.. maybe put some rugs down on the hardwood floors, I don’t know.
It was a beautiful place and had a perfect location. Staff were very courteous and friendly. This is our favorite place to stay on Mackinac Island. We also love that you can see the beautiful views of the water front.
Not a thing
Location! Perfect! Room was clean and comfortable.
We were on the top floor and the room felt a little small because of the angled ceiling. Hard to get in and out of bed without hitting my head.
Loved the historic building and its history
4th floor strange going down to go up at Rd floor, but that’s the character.
I was here as a solo with a tour group. My room was lovely (somewhat small) with a comfortable king size bed. Sink and vanity outside of the bathroom. The heat/AC unit was a bit different but I figured it out. Nice, big screen tv. The indoor pool and outdoor hot-tub were nice. There is a beautiful outdoor area behind the hotel with a grill restaurant. The hotel restaurant is very nice, with great service. I would only suggest a grab bar in the shower.
Location and overall feel of the entry and front lawn were very nice
Our room 110 was very noisy in the morning as the staff entrance and deliveries were happening right out our room. The bed was not plush as you would expect for the price we paid. The sink in the room is a bit out of date, but that goes with the older property
Close to town and the bike hire on front lawn
Room was a bit small for two
The property was conveniently located to downtown. The staff was courteous. The 1852 grill room onsite is amazing!
I felt the price of the rooms were not worthy for what you received. The fan in our bathroom was very noisy like it needed oil. The shower water was definitely ‘hard’ water. The bed’s extremely uncomfortable.
My husband and I had never been to Michigan and being Texans all our lives, we only knew it would be nice cool temperatures. Let me say, everyone we encountered, from the Mackinac Shuttle to Shipley's Ferry and all around Mackinac Island, were the friendliest people I could meet.
We stayed at the Island House Hotel, with its beautiful view of the lake, rockers on the front porch and 5 minutes from everything downtown. We arrived around 9:00 p.m. and were greeted with a warm welcome. Most of the time we had questions or needed something, Jacie, at the front desk, was there to help us. She took great pride in her front desk position because she always had a smile and wanted to do whatever she could to enhance the Island House Hotel experience.
On the Island House Hotel website, it encourages you to sign up for the 906 Mackinac Island Rewards Club. We did and it saved us some money.
The Shipley's Ferry depot is a 5 minute walk to Island House so since we had carry on luggage, we chose to walk to the hotel instead of getting a taxi (Horse and carriage, you know)
We rented bikes from Island House Bikes just in front of the hotel and got directions from the Tourist Center on the best route to take around the island. It is a 8.2 mile leisure ride with places to stop along the way. There are not any steep hills and for us, it was mostly bicycle traffic as opposed to horse and carriage. Enjoy your stay!
It's a perfect location and relaxing atmosphere just far enough from town
Nothing to not like. It is expensive compared to other similar properties I have stayed on mainland but that is what you get on the island
We got three rooms. There were five adults and four kids. The family of six was in one of the family suites. That worked out great with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large living area. The location is excellent. The porches and chairs and fire pits outside are a great place to relax and watch the harbor. We were there during a lilac festival. We spent three nights four days on the island. Everything in the hotel was clean, well decorated, and the staff was very friendly.
