I would not recommend this resort.
When we first arrived, everything seemed to be going fairly smoothly. The staff member who checked us in explained the resort and invited us to attend a complimentary breakfast that turned out to be a timeshare presentation. We agreed to attend, but due to unforeseen personal circumstances, we were unable to make it.
Instead of simply accepting that, the staff member repeatedly called our room. We chose not to answer because we were on vacation and didn’t want to be pressured about a timeshare presentation.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t the end of it. When my son and boyfriend went to the front desk, she confronted them and told them that we made her look bad because we didn’t attend. Life happens, and sometimes plans change. It was completely beyond our control.
Later, my daughter and her boyfriend went to the front desk before heading out for groceries. The same staff member approached them and asked if we were okay and why we hadn’t attended the presentation—even though she had already spoken with my boyfriend. There was no reason to involve the rest of our family.
Then, to top it all off, she came to our room. At that point, it felt like harassment. Missing a timeshare presentation should not result in repeated phone calls, multiple confrontations with different members of our group, and an uninvited visit to our room. If anything, that behavior reflects poorly on the resort’s guest service.
My advice: don’t sign up for the “free” breakfast. If something comes up and you can’t attend, be prepared for repeated pressure.
As for the resort itself, we arrived early and ate at the on-site restaurant while waiting for our room. The food was overpriced and disappointing, so I wouldn’t recommend eating there either.
One thing to keep in mind is that the entire island is still recovering from the devastating hurricane several years ago, and you can still see its impact in many places. I understand that isn’t the resort’s fault, but it does affect the overall appearance of the area and the availability of some amenities and services.
The early check-in was appreciated, but the room itself was not very clean. We actually left it cleaner than we found it.
Other issues we experienced included:
● The washer and dryer barely worked.
● Wi-Fi was only available for an additional fee.
● Shampoo was not provided, so bring your own.
● The pool is in need of maintenance, with loose and missing tiles throughout.
● The resort overall could use significant updating and better housekeeping.
One of the most concerning experiences happened on our first day when a maintenance worker entered our room without knocking or announcing himself. He simply walked in. That is completely unacceptable and made us feel uncomfortable.
I’m grateful that this vacation was provided through Wyndham because I would have been extremely disappointed if I had paid full price to stay here. Even the taxes and resort fees felt excessive considering the overall experience.
Overall, this resort needs improvements to its facilities, housekeeping, and especially its customer service. Guests should be able to enjoy their vacation without feeling pressured or harassed over a missed timeshare presentation.
We recently stayed at Ocean Reef Yacht Club & Resort and, looking strictly at the property, we had a great time. The room was comfortable, the food was delicious, and the island tour was a wonderful experience.
However, I feel a strong responsibility to warn other guests about the timeshare presentation offered on-site. We ended up being ripped off for over $12,000, and it has turned our experience into a nightmare.
My advice is simple: Do not attend the timeshare presentation.
The sales team will lie to you to get you to sign a contract. They use the mandatory 3-day rescission period as a calculated "bait and switch" tactic. They know full well that you cannot conduct proper due diligence on the product benefits within that short window. By the time you can actually explore how the "free" weeks, RCI point conversions, and the 365 website actually work, the 3-day cancellation window has long passed.
If you are pressured to attend a presentation, keep this in mind: if they cannot show you exactly how the product works—and if they cannot prove the value of the weeks and the functionality of the website before you sign—do not buy. We learned the hard way that promises made verbally during the pitch do not align with reality.
Please save yourself the stress and the financial loss; just enjoy the resort and decline the timeshare pitch entirely.
I've been going to Ocean Reef for 22 years!! Its always felt like home to me and my returning friends! They've weathered alot of bad hurricanes and have been fixing alot beautifully!
It had a gym and car service to go to the beach
You have to pay for Internet and the pool need a little bit of work
The friendly staff and tranquility
The parking was a bit tedious
Equipe simpática e prestativa.
I cooked my own food
Everything was great
Room was dirty. They charge $100 if you don’t clean the kitchen before leaving, but no dishwasher and dish washing liquid not in bottle, it was in a scrub brush. Took a tour, went to the Rum distillery. We asked the bartender where to find local food. The bartender was going to tell us, but the tour driver heard, got angry telling angry and caused a scene. Rented bikes, but they had to repair them before we could ride. No reliable transportation.
Location
Had a cockroach in the room
Secure and the available amenities were excellent. The kitchen was well stocked with the equipment I needed for the cooking I did.
It took quite a while for the water to get hot. You just have to plan ahead.
I arrived at this hotel hoping to get some rest after time at the shipyard, but unfortunately my stay was very disappointing. The room was affected by a loud installation or mechanical system on the first floor, which I believe may have been ventilation. When I later wanted to take a shower, I found that the bathroom had not been properly cleaned. There were many hairs from previous guests, and there was no shower gel or shampoo provided, only bar soap. After looking more closely, I also noticed hairs around the sleeping area. The next day, I wanted to go to the pool, but the doors did not open properly. A second door appeared to be broken and had a note saying not to use it. I also noticed that the handles on a white door were very dirty and dark from use. At the pool, the chairs had soft mattresses that seemed to be left outside overnight. Because of the rain, they were wet, so even placing a towel on them did not help much. After the second night, I decided to leave the hotel early. I found a bug on the floor and something what looked like mold on the curtains, and dust inside the hair dryer. At that point, I had had enough. I preferred to sleep with some noise on a cruise ship, which, despite being around 15 years old and having far more passengers, was in much better condition than this hotel. Overall, this was not the restful or clean stay I expected, and I would not choose to stay here again.
Also as note : You need to pay for the wifi, it is free in the hotels where ive been to in Freeport. You get also limitation on the device cout. The Internet is limited to 20mbit and there are times where the lattency is huge.
