Be aware that this hotel provides ear plugs for a reason. It was easily the noisiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in.....the road and traffic noise at night was unbearable without them. It’s pretty ridiculous to need ear plugs just to sleep in what’s supposed to be a 4-star hotel. Next time, I’d stay at the Park Hyatt instead.
Also, take a pass on the strawberry buffet… it was a joke, to say the least.
I knew Mr. Kimpton back in the day and I don't think he would be happy with what IHG has done to his name. Location was quiet but at least 15 min walk to Shinjuku Station and all the action. I asked the hotel for restaurant recommendations and they knew nothing. Told me no sushi restaurant would also serve cooked food which was totally false. We found a great one on our own. Asked if they would mail postcards; they sent us to the convenience store; they sent us back to hotel!! Staff at Rooftop bar was not friendly. We had to beg to be seated (at opening) at bar and was told we needed reservations but, after 1 hour at the bar, no other guests were there. And the pours were REALLY stingy. Knowing how great his original hotels and restaurants were, I was very disappointed. HOWEVER, Adam (from Edinburgh) was a great help to us many times and deserves to be commended for his command of the Japanese language and helpfulness.
Excellent staff, helped us from moment of arrival. Rooms very clean, great views from floor 12. Very nice social hour, drinks and appetizers.
The Jones cafe- good coffee and lunch options. The District restaurant provides both a lounge and full menus, providing a lot of choice.
Nice quieter location, 12 min walk to the hustle and bustle of Shinjuku station. Reception staff arranged taxis quickly.
We stayed here for 6 nights and really enjoyed it. Nice rooms with city view, great location, super helpful and friendly staff, and the convenience of a restaurant inside the hotel was very nice. I would definitely stay here when I go back to Tokyo.
Location, staff, restaurant and food
Nothing
I really liked the feel of the hotel, friendly staff and quite small which I liked.
If there was one thing I’d improve it would be the speed of service in the restaurant. Coffees took too long.
Good: 15 mins walk from Shinjuku station. Decent sized rooms with luxury furnishings, PJs and towels. Took me three days to find the cleverly concealed fridge. Breakfast a la carte. Service good. Daily evening social with very good wine and canapes. They discovered it was my birthday and left a card and presents in the room, as well as congratulating me at the evening get together. One of the reception staff was really helpful in booking our luggage on to our next destination. Lots of English spoken. Dogs are allowed at dinner which was very cute.
Not so good. A bit tired here and there, such as wooden tables in the restaurant looking a bit knocked-around.
Highly recommended.
Breakfast was outstanding. I had to take several private calls in the morning from the US - the staff were wonderful hosts and accommodated my needs.
Honestly was excellent experience.
This was a lovely hotel with Westernized vibes. And if you’re a cyclist back home, this is a major plus as a hotel bike is offered for exploration around the wonderful city. Lobby greeted immediately with flavored water dispensers, wonderful way to be welcomed after a short walk from Shinjuku station pushing our luggage. Booked via Amex enabled a wonderful breakfast benefit that was amazing. Non-buffet style with very delicious dishes and beverages. Only gripe is that service is just a bit slow. The rooms were exceptionally clean and modern, love the stone floor shower detail and the extra deep tub. Kedar and Gagan were wonderful with hotel information and bike rental services. The front desk ladies as well as the Social hour group were tremendous in service. This was a unique hotel as not many hotels offer a bike to be able to explore the city in a more fun and exhilarating manner. Walking can only cover so much distance. 10/10 would stay at the Kimpton again.
Very cool and classy hotel. From the minute arrived the staff were professional, courteous and super helpful. A trendy a very trendy hotel in the heart of the city.
Great location, beautiful hotel
Nothing to mention
A fantastic stay at the Kimpton Shinjuku. The hotel is situated about a 15 minute walk from Shinjuku Station and neighbourhood which made it very easy to get around Tokyo. The check-in, friendliness of the staff and comfortable room with lovely amenities made our stay 5 star. A special mention to Alex the concierge for all of his help with restaurant bookings. Thank you Alex!
Stayed here a few times before and it never disappoints. Very well appointed hotel run by friendly efficient staff located a stones through from the heart of Shinjuku
We had a wonderful time in Tokyo made extra special by the incredible and friendly barista I Wayan at the café, who makes the most amazing complimentary cappuccino every morning to start every day on a happy note. Don't miss your morning coffee here!
Loved the hotel. It was in a great location. The staff was superb. The room was very clean and modern. Would definitely return.
