Offensively smelly. Dreading our next booked stay on Monday.
Pros:

Friendly staff who accommodate your requests. Location and close proximity to upstate hospital. Price point.

Cons:

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at Syracuse grand since April for a family members medical appointments. The first two times we stayed there, no issues. This time it was a mess. Both rooms smelled absolutely terrible. My parents handicap accessible room smelled like strong ammonia masking dog urine. We had their room changed, but at the sacrifice of having a handicap accessible shower. My room, which I was not really paying attention to because I was caring for my parents until bedtime, smelled like mold/mildew. I noticed it briefly when I came into the room to drop off my overnight bag but didn’t really hit me until I re entered the room at 11pm. By that point I was exhausted and already knew that limited rooms were available, if any, since there were only 2 options available for my parents when we switched them. I threw the blanket over my face to mask the smell and tried to ignore it. I couldn’t and it made me feel sick by morning. The bathroom smelled like weed in the morning and when I went to lay out the floor towel I found a cue tip covered in black on each side, likely used to clean a pipe and the culprit of the smell. I informed the front desk at check out, in a hurry to make it to appointments. The breakfast also was a downfall. Yogurt and juice machines broken and said “check fridge for juice and yogurt”. There was no juice and when I asked about the lady was nice enough to bring some out, but informed me that it wouldn’t be cold because whoever worked the day before didn’t refrigerate any for this morning.

Very very budget
Pros:

Affordable, breakfast was decent, First room the AC didn’t work, but they were able to find us another room

Cons:

There were a lot of smells and stains- our AC emitted a sour smell, but we couldn’t turn it off in the middle of a heat wave. Halls had a different smell, unclear where it was coming from. There were splotches from past spills on the tile near the front, despite seeing mopping happen. People regularly propped open a side door by sliding the broken push device to the side. Examples of bathroom and room stains in pictures.

The fact that it appears to be a long term living quarters for a lot of people from other countries. The smell was not good, the breakfast area was so overwhelming with the amount of people (unsupervised kids), had to take (a lot) of pics of the room and bring them to the attention of the staff, so we didn't get charged for all the previous damage. Just sad that a property with the potential has been so abused.

Beware
Pros:

They charge me $250 for smoking when I haven’t smoked in over six years since my fiancé died. Smoke detector went off at 4:30 in the morning while I was sound asleep and then went off again when nobody was in the room. They charged me $150 for excessive cleaning. When there were maybe three cans on the counter. And they tried charging five other charges which were declined. Do not stay at this hotel they will rip you off. When I went to the front desk, the people in front of me had the same problem
