Health & Safety Violations | Stay Date: June 25, 2026
Comfort Suites Airport Boise | 2906 S. Vista Ave
I am a Choice Privileges Platinum member. On June 25, 2026, my husband, my autistic son, and I checked into this property. We vacated at 9:30 PM due to conditions that violated basic health and sanitation standards. We did not sleep, shower, or otherwise use the room beyond initial entry.
Conditions observed:
1. Room & Furnishings: Wall damage, water stains on hallway flooring, discolored stains on furniture, and a significant amount of human hair on the carpet and flooring.
2. Sleeping Accommodations: Two standard beds and one sofa bed. The sofa bed was uneven and lumpy. No functional television was available.
3. Linens & Bedding: The first set of sheets contained sand, crumbs, and black residue. All sheets had black hair on them. There were blood stains and urine stains on the mattress, mattress cover, and comforter.
4. Pest Infestation: Live insects were present on the wall, ceiling, furnishings, and freshly changed sheets. Insects were also observed outside on the air conditioner unit.
5. Health & Safety Impact: My son is autistic and has a medically allergy to insect bites. He became visibly distressed by the infestation. We vacated immediately to prevent a medical emergency.
Staff Response:
* June 25 PM: Management denied a refund for the first night, stating we were "in the room too long" and claiming insects "only enter if a window is opened." We did not open any windows.
* June 26 AM: We returned to speak with management; however, the manager was not present. The front desk staff member on duty provided extremely poor customer service.
I have no issue with this staff member using a wheelchair and fully support accessibility and individuals with disabilities. My concern is solely with his unprofessional conduct.
At the beginning of the conversation, we presented photos of the room conditions. The staff member was confrontational and dismissive. He disputed that the insects constituted a problem and repeatedly diverted the conversation to the type of insect instead of addressing the unsanitary conditions. He stated multiple times that the property "cannot control bugs." When I advised that I intended to file a formal complaint due to the conditions and my son's disability, he responded that I was "threatening him." At the conclusion of the conversation, he stated he did not appreciate us "coming in and attacking him." When requested to contact a manager, he stated he would pass the information along "to shut us up" but that nothing would be done.
He declined to provide his name and denied a refund. I disclosed my Platinum status, which was disregarded. The interaction was unprofessional and demonstrated no concern for guest safety or a medical issue involving a disabled child.
Post-Stay Issue: The reservation was removed from my Choice Privileges account, yet the charge for one night remains. No points or stay credit were applied. I retain the original confirmation, credit card statement, and photographic evidence.
This property did not meet minimum standards for cleanliness, safety, or basic customer service. Photos attached. A formal case has been filed with Choice Hotels Corporate.
We've stayed here several times. Mostly a very pleasant experience. Clean quiet and good breakfast. We always seem to be punished for booking with Priceline by being put on the top floor away from the elevator. Small slow elevator not commensurate with size of hotel. Today I discovered night stand light missing a bulb. Room phone inoperable. Had to walk down to desk to inform them. Two hours later still not fixed. Tv not user friendly and guide for direct TV no info. Small TV obviously several years behind the times. No close dining options.
Visited Boise to visit family. Very nice hotel with great staff. Chet (night shift clerk) was very helpful. Good beds, room, and breakfast.
Positives-close to airport, clean bed and bath linens. Plenty of towels. One of the two front desk people were friendly.
Negatives- We arrived in Boise early due to a flight change. We went to lunch and got to the hotel to see if we could check in 55 minutes early. Clerk said check in is at 3 but we could pay $35 fee to check in early. Instead, we went to the grocery store and then had to sit in the lobby for 25 minutes, at exactly 3pm a different clerk looked up and said we could now check in. This has not been our experience at any hotel, ever, if we’ve arrived an hour or less of check in time.
Rooms are old. Peeling ceiling, stained carpet, cracked glass in mirrored closet doors, lots of scratches/fading in the wood doors. Flimsy shower curtain too short for the tub so floor gets soaked. One small hook on the back of the bathroom door for towels…no other towel bar or racks. AC very loud. Direct TV, but not smart TV so couldn’t stream from our accounts.
Pillows are awful, filling is lumpy and almost non existent. There’s a pamphlet on the bedside table highlighting a comfortable nights rest with your choice of soft or firm pillows. After our first night my husband asked the same clerk that told us about the check in fee for firm pillows. Clerked looked at him like he had two heads, laughed and said “they’re all the same”. Hot breakfast items were not great. Muffins subpar.
We cancelled an Airbnb to stay at this hotel because breakfast was included and to save $50, that was a mistake.
Not a place to take your family! I wish that I had read some of the other reviews here before booking. Rude staff, unaccommodating manager, and unpleasant odors were the "hightlights" of our experience here. We ended up leaving for another hotel to complete our stay in Boise. Save yourself the trouble and just book a different hotel.
Terrible experience at Comfort Suites Airport Boise (2906 S Vista Ave). I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel.
I stayed with my daughter, who has a medical condition and a trained service dog. The dog was clearly visible, and no issues were raised at first. The next night, staff member Arrian S. came to our room claiming there was “no record” of the dog and began questioning my daughter about it. After calling manager Omar Luna (who wasn’t even present), they decided the dog didn’t “qualify” and forced my daughter to leave.
This is completely unacceptable and a clear lack of understanding of ADA protections. Staff do not have the authority to demand documentation or decide whether a service dog qualifies. The dog was under control at all times.
Because she cannot be without her service dog, my daughter was forced out of the hotel late at night to find somewhere else to stay.
Both Arrian and Omar were rude and unprofessional. When we asked for their names to file a complaint, we were told that was “harassment.” Arrian even waited in the hallway to walk my daughter out.
On top of that, the hotel itself is old, not clean, smells strange, and had visible maintenance issues like cracks in the toilet. We paid for a service and didn’t even receive basic standards.
Heed the multiple bad reviews and avoid this hotel!
Everything!
Nothing
Location
The Bed was not comfortable
The room was nice and most of the staff were helpful and friendly. My next flight doesn’t leave till late in the evening so I asked to extend the checkout time and they charge a dollar per minute extra you stay past checkout up to 30 extra minutes you’re allowed to stay 😡 Not a huge problem but when many other hotels I’ve stayed with have extended me well into the evening for FREE!! Disappointing hearing. I probably won’t stay here again when in the area next if I plan to stay for a longer duration
Checked in, went to room. The mirror was busted, tub was cracked, light fixtures missing bulbs. I asked to be moved to a different room. Was denied and the clerk said most all the mirrors were busted. I checked out! They refused to refund the week stay I prepaid. Rather spend my money where it’s appreciated. They’re still holding the $$$ deposit. Drive less than a mile to Comfort Suites on Elder Street . Perfect rooms awesome staff! Stay at Elder Street Comfort Suites!!!!
My 19-year-old son was traveling from Boston to Shanghai (where he attends college). His flight from Boston to Seattle was diverted to Boise, Idaho, and he spent about 6–7 hours stranded at the airport - three of them sitting on the runway. The crew timed out and the flight was rescheduled for the next morning. He quickly booked a room at Comfort Suites Airport in Boise through Booking.com so he’d have a place to sleep, as many passengers were stranded.
When he arrived just 30 minutes later, the hotel refused to check him in, saying guests must be 21 years or older to stay. He asked for a refund, but they refused, saying it was a non-cancelable booking and that the age restriction was listed on their website.
He had no issue finding another nearby hotel that accepted 19 year olds, which makes Comfort Suites’ stance even more unreasonable. The night manager, Chet, was kind and tried to help, but when we followed up with the day manager, Omar, he was extremely rude to my husband and even hung up the phone. We escalated the issue to Comfort Suites corporate, but they declined to assist.
This entire experience left us disappointed with both the hotel and the brand. We travel extensively and have never encountered such poor customer service. I just wanted to warn anyone considering staying at this property. They are NOT customer-friendly and seem uninterested in resolving issues fairly.
Location was good, staff was very good and breakfast was good.
Pool area and workout room not so good. Sauna seems to be open but not working. So why is it open??? Hot tub not very warm.
Breakfast was ok except sausages were cold and they were always out of biscuits and i ask if they were going to get more out and was told that that was extra and they only had one serving and were not going to put anymore out so i guess if you want biscuits and gravy you better there first thing!!!! I paid for full breakfast not just what ever was left over...
It was quiet and comfortable.. the staff was very helpful
There were no jets in the hot tub.. that was a bummer.. other than that, everything was fine
It’s older and worn but good enough
It’s was worms and a like more care could be had in the room the exhaust fan didn’t work.
