Pros:

Fantastic location, facilities, inclusions and a perfect winter escape for all ages. We loved the common lounge where we could spend time by the fire. The breakfast included was second to none and service was exceptional. We will be back.

The lake view rooms were worth it. The view during winter was 10/10. All staff members were 10/10.
Pros:

Breakfast was a la carte but has an amazing selection. Food was amazing!! Best breakfast we had amongst all our hotel stays.

Cons:

Internet connection in the mountain view and garden rooms could be better. Soak tubs would be better if temperature could be adjusted. 39 degrees was too hot.

Cozy, Warm and a great way to start your NZ trip!
Pros:

Our room met our expectations in every way, featuring excellent, immaculate bathroom facilities. The complimentary products were a highlight—they smelled divine and kept my skin beautifully soft despite the dry, cold conditions. One of our favourite details was the seating area outside the breakfast room; enjoying a morning coffee by the fireplace offered a wonderfully cozy, calming, and intimate start to the day. To top it off, the staff's catering services were exceptional. We booked dinner for our final evening, and the outstanding presentation and quality of the food made for a truly memorable meal.

Cons:

Our room was located at the back of the car park, which required an outdoor walk to the main reception area. If it’s raining, foggy, or wet, this walkway can become quite slippery and a bit of a hazard. Additionally, we were told about the hot pools upon arrival, but because they book out quickly, it would have been ideal to know about them beforehand. It would be a great improvement if the booking team could suggest reserving the hot pools to guests prior to their arrival so they can plan accordingly.

Poor booking experience - major construction outside premium rooms until late 2027
Pros:

BEWARE - CONSTRUCTION OUTSIDE PREMIUM ROOMS UNTIL LATE 2027 & APALLING BOOKING EXPERIENCE.
I've had a very poor booking experience with this hotel so far.
I initially booked via Booking.com, but we had to amend our dates (no fault of the hotel) and then faced a much higher price after moving from June to late July. I've worked in the industry so understand dynamic pricing based on demand/utilisation..

I then contacted the hotel direct and dealt with their Reservations Manager, who was very polite. However, when rebooking I found that they required payment 30 days prior to travel, which wasn't the original terms I had booked under.

When speaking with Reservations Manager he then offered/suggested that we upgrade from the Remarkables King Lake View to the Tahuna Lake View premium rooms, at a small upgrade price. I agreed to both the upgrade and paying in advance and completed the credit card authorisation. I explained both on the phone and via email that I was travelling with my wife and 5-year old son (who had been included in the original booking) and had a couple of significant milestone birthdays occurring during our stay. We had also pre-booked dinner at the Nest restaurant as a resultt

I was then contacted a number of days later by the Reservations Manager after we had previously received a full confirmation, and was advised that they cannot accommodate a child in the room - even though he would share the King bed with us.

This feels discriminatory and also the fact that they do not clearly advertise the significant construction project in front of the hotel's premium rooms that has been occurring since April 2024 according to the one line in the T&Cs on their booking confirmation. I only found out about the construction from another Google Review and was only told after I enquired about it. It would be very simple for the hotel to add a small banner or pop-up on their website to advise in advance that it would likely disrupt the stay and the lake view.

Having worked in the tourism industry for well over a decade I have found the entire experience very poorly handled and largely misleading. They have offered us a downgrade to a lower level Twin Room (not Premium), or to cancel the booking as they are yet to charge our card - even though I had to authorise payment days ago due to their strict policies. After having made the original booking over 4 weeks ago, the prices of other accommodation have increased significantly since then so I will be financially penalised as a result.

I requested the General Manager call me directly which he has failed to do so, and they claimed they do not have my phone even though I provided a number of times during booking and credit card authorisation.

Very disappointed and buyer beware. I will be reporting my experience to Destination Queenstown and on other review sites. As a proud Kiwi and former Queenstown resident I am frankly appalled and ashamed if other international visitors should experience this level of service.
